As I mentioned in an earlier blog post this week. The International Association for Teenage Hypnotists has gone live. Today was the launch of this new organization designed to help educate and certify the future of hypnosis. The organization is the brainchild of Nathan Thomas and Leo Gopal who are both Teenage Hypnotists and both good friends of mine. Who would have thought that so many teenagers across the world would be interested in the art of hypnosis? Yet, thousands upon thousands of youtube videos and blogs later it is true. Hypnotism is for more than just some strange hobby for teens who feel out of place.

This organization is special because many hypnosis trainers require people to be at least 18 years or older before they take training. This has made it where teenage hypnotists have had to learn from watching youtube videos or reading articles from blogs like mine and many others. While you can learn a good deal of stuff from youtube, articles, books and blogs. There is nothing quite like receiving live training with hands on practice. I am a strong believer in receiving hands on training as you learn things you never could from a video. Another problem for teenage hypnotists is the cost of training material. I ran across one course I wanted a few years ago when I was a teenage hypnotist and it took me almost 4 months to save up.

I’m not saying there is nothing wrong with that, but for some teenagers money is limited. Yet, there are ways to overcome this which I may talk about in another post soon. Still, The IATH provides a headquarters for teenage hypnotists where they can come and learn hypnosis in a credible and professional manner through audio, video and written format. All information provided by professional hypnotists who have been in this business for a while and have experience. For those who wish to take this to the next level the International Association for Teenage Hypnotists has teamed up with The International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy to provide certification. I am in the process of taking this course as well and I can testify for it as being a very well versed course.

Besides all of the above this organization will also have a forum and many other functions to help assist the teenage hypnotist. The goal of the organization is more than just being a location for hypnosis organization. Its to actual provide, teach and educate the next generation so they may be prepared to become professionals who act, teach and practice in a credible manner. I believe this organization will become the forefront of learning for the young hypnotist. Eventually as they move pass the ages considered to be a teenager they will have the skills and be old enough to engage in other training.

I am a huge supporter of this organization as it wasn’t too long ago that I was a teenage hypnotists trying to find people to teach me or trying to find resources to learn wherever I could. In the beginning I taught myself, but when I reached 18 and made some money I started to go to every training I could that was credible. I have to also admit to everyone that I am also involved in the organization as a community mentor as well as others such as Taylor Sherman and many others who are giving up part of there time and resources to help guide the future generation. Personally in the past I was always worried about some of the teenage hypnotists coming up. The few I talked too were rude and just wanted to hypnotize people to control people. This is not my idea of a professional in anyway. So the creation of an organization that goal is to make sure that teenagers have access to the proper knowledge, resources and training is so important.

I truly hope teenagers and older hypnotists see the advantage of a organization like this and how it can benefit hypnotism as it shows the world we are serious about education and not just some group of wannabe’s who show off our fancy certification.
