Hello Everyone,
So, why do we yell sleep if Hypnosis isn’t sleep? Someone sent me this question a few days ago and I thought it would make a good post.
To be honest the word sleep is one of the biggest reason people tend to think hypnosis is sleep. The fact of the matter is Hypnosis isn’t sleep at all. When you enter Hypnosis you are actually more “awake” then you are now. You actually become more alert and aware, but because you’re in a very relaxed state it appears from a outside point of view that you are asleep.

Hello Everyone,
Sorry about the lack of blog post lately, but things have been pretty busy. I’m taking care of some loose ends so in the next few weeks you should see some more post. I received a great e-mail from my good friend Rich Wilson who is also a really great certified Hypnotist. The e-mail contained a link to a great article dealing with how hypnosis can be used for tooth removal and other things involved with seeing the Dentist.
Hypnotists have known for a long time that hypnosis can be used to deal with pain. Hypnosis allows the body to produce it’s own Anesthesia. Hypnosis can offer help in many different areas such as controlling the amount of saliva, blood flow, pain control and general relaxation which helps to ease the visit to the dentist. Articles like the one I’m planning to link to here are great because they get the word out about the different benefits of hypnosis. I highly recommend that people still consult with their Dentist on this matter.

When I first got started in hypnosis I went around to everyone I knew asking to hypnotize them. Most of the people said no, but a few of them agreed to “try” hypnosis. These people knew nothing about hypnosis, but being a confidence newcomer I didn’t feel I had to educate them on hypnosis. I figured all I had to do was copy some youtube video’s I’ve seen.
I knew I could hypnotize someone and emerge them from hypnosis if I just followed the videos I had watched. Looking back on this situation I think I may have been to confidence in myself, which can blow up in your face sometimes. I walked up to the guy, told him to press on my hand, close his eyes and the moment he started to apply pressure to my hand I yelled “sleep” in a deep voice. As I yelled sleep I knew I was going to be successful. I glanced up to see what a person in hypnosis looks like in real life and got a surprise. His eyes were wide open; he looked at me and said did it work? My hurt ego took a moment and answered “no, it didn’t work and I’m
not sure why”.

Hello Everyone
While I was out the other day I ran into an old friend who to my surprise is now a doctor. I haven’t seen this friend in a long time so we decided to get together for lunch in a few days and play catch up.
We finally met up for lunch the other day and I began to tell him how I’m slowly moving out of Real Estate and have since become a Certified Hypnotist over the course of the last few years. This caught him off guard a little and was curious on how I made the transition from the Real Estate world to the Hypnosis world. I told him my story and he was pretty surprised that I made such an interesting life change. Overall I thought he took it quite well. After a moment or two of silent he asked me a question. He asked me when I was moving from Columbus? I told him I wasn’t planning to move at all and was curious as to why he assumed I was moving.

As a hypnotist one of the main questions I always ask people is have you been hypnotized before? The majority of people usually answer this question with a simple “no”. Once in a while I will meet someone who says they have been hypnotized, but that’s pretty rare here in Columbus.
When I hear someone say they haven’t been hypnotized before I think to myself this is great! I have a chance to educate someone on hypnosis and maybe, just maybe change the way someone views this wonderful profession. To me it’s the law of compounding. One person tells one person and another person tells two people and so on.
The fact is that most of the people on this planet have been hypnotized or been in hypnosis. Now you may be reading this saying I think I would know if I’ve been hypnotized before. I have never been to a hypnotist. My answer back to all of you saying that is if you have never been hypnotized before, then how do you know what hypnosis is?

Things have come long way since the first person was ever hypnotized. We have learned so much more about hypnosis, patterns and the way our words affect suggestion and the way they affect the client.
This is the year 2008 and many of us are still using words that are causing hypnotist to shoot themselves in the foot. As we all know the media has really given hypnosis a bad rep over the years. While their are some good reports out there, certain movies and books have convinced people that what we do is magic or something from the occult. The average person tends to think we have “super powers” or some type of control over people. So it’s important that we stop using certain words that give people the wrong idea about what we do. I also promise that if you start to change your vocab you will notice a strong difference in the way your sessions go.

Hello Everyone
I have been getting a lot of e-mails asking is it possible to hypnotize people in a loud location. So I thought I would write a little article about how to work with clients in these situations.
First off, it is possible to perform hypnosis in a loud location and it’s done all the time. While the client and I might prefer a quiet location this isn’t always possible. The fact of the matter is that unless you have a sound proof booth their will always be some type of noise around. For instance, noises such as cars passing by, the A/C or heater coming on, People making noise outside, dogs barking and so much more.
