Nightclubs, and noisy venues can be hard to gain the attention of anyone, when drunk men are bouncing around and causing a lot of hassle for pretty girls. How can we possibly gain the attention of a girl if we expect to hypnotize them or begin to seduce them?

The key to pick up and hypnosis alike, is about building responses which start off small within a person, and then develop them to a point where you can state “You can really feel that can’t you” in Head Hacking courses for a number of years we have referred to this as progressing a linear response and turning it binary.

Read the previous article if you want to know how to start compliance with unresponsive audiences in the competitive scenarios where more than a few hundred people are fighting for attention. The rest part two will continue to describe how to increase this compliance to a goal once you’ve gained interest, fascination, attention, a look, a stare, a smile, or something from a subject.

Let them watch you – Once you notice someone in the audience is paying you interest

With hypnotic subjects, I will have them stand around me for a little bit before I hypnotize them, I tend to watch when I speak who is listening to me, who is paying attention to me when I walk around a venue, then I assume they will be responsive to me, I believe that
their attention isn’t being competed for, or that my competitors for their attention are not as unique, or as useful to the watcher as I am for them, and therefore I have their interest.

In seduction it is said that if you are unique, for example dressed in an extravagant fashion then you have social proof when people in the venue watch you. And you have this massivesocial effect. When I went out and created this effect I would also receive much higher
results as a hypnotist, which lead me to develop this theoretic that I have been explaining this far.

Who said you can't hypnotize bunnies?

It’s really important that your audience ends up investing more energy and time into you than you appear to be investing into them. Sure you need to make them feel somewhat special and not put them down, or make them feel uncool but you need to be clear that you
are to be respected.

It’s important when you are progressing with a girl that you never tell them that you like them, that you never indicate that your wanting attraction with them. This cannot be communicated in either your body language or your words. In the Pickup community this is referred to as ‘indirect theory’.

As a general overview, indirect approaches are subtle, and very “under the radar” versus a direct approach. It gives the PUA flexibility to maneuver the pickup to befriending the girls if they seem not interested in a romantic relationship, or using the targets as social proof and pivots. It also allows for role reversals where the target can qualify herself to the PUA post-attraction as she does not know the PUA’s real intentions. (source:pualingo) while your indirect in your approach in the sense that you never directly convey interest,
while you continue progressing the eye contact, the touching as much as you can get away with without alerting her that she has to make a decision about whether she’s attracted to you.

Because the moment she has to make a decision she will bring up all of her frames and expectations about what kind of man she wants, about how she feels, about work and career and friends that you will likely fail on. She doesn’t know you she has no commitment towards you the moment you force her to make a decision as to whether she likes you, whether the decision was forced by subtext or explicitly stated, you’ve lost the girl.

When you follow Vince's advice this is the response you can get

The reason why building commitment while at the same time being indirect works in persuasion, is referred to as ‘foot in the door technique’. “It’s a compliance tactic that involves getting a person to agree to a large request by first setting them up by having that person agree to a modest request.[1][2][3] The foot-in-the-door technique succeeds due to a basic human reality that social scientists call “successive approximations”. Basically, the more a subject goes along with small requests or commitments, the more likely that subject is to continue in a desired direction of attitude or behavioral change and feel obligated to go along with larger requests” (Source: Wikipedia)

Give them a quick moment to watch you, the impression should always be in their mind that they are watching you way more than your watching them. Give them a moment to see you smile into the distance (never pout into the distance) then look at them a pout a little. (both these looks have evidence sourced from http://stats.OKcupid.com).

Girls are constantly making a decision about you, they want you until they don’t want you.Allow them to find all the reasons about you that they like you and they will only be able to see through that frame. But the moment you say or do something wrong then they will see you through the frame that your ugly, etc. According to the NLP encyclopaedia (nlpuniversitypress.com) the term ‘frame’ is used to refer to a general focus or direction that provides an overall guidance for thoughts and actions during an interaction. Frames
greatly influence the way specific experiences and events are interpreted and responded to.

In hypnosis the pretalk; that is the conversation you have before you hypnotize someone often causes how the experience is interpreted by the subject. It’s the same in seduction if you lead people to believe that you are respected, and attractive, then they’ll probably just go with those beliefs.

Find a shared moment

So a lot of the time an interaction happens, that is when you begin talking, or interacting with a stranger; someone you previously had no connection to, the reason for your ‘coming together’ was that something ‘situational’ occurred. It might be that you notice something
situational about the person you spot, “I think that outfit is great”, “your so happy”, something you state about yourself “I’m in such a good mood”, or something about the environment “Its great in here isn’t it?” it could be that the song in the background is progressing towards a peak.

When doing Street Hypnosis it's so important to stay relaxed and be confident

One of the things it can be is that you two seem to share various things in common, for example you might be dancing in the same manner, or matching each other’s vibe energy, for example moving in the same rhythm, smiling in the same manner. Commonality has been shown by scientists and economist theorists to be one of the main cause for partnerships, as it lowers costs experienced as an individual as you work together producing synergies as a team. Its just a moment where you suddenly acknowledge that your both not
separate identities, you both are together under some kind of shared context and you point this out.

In Head Hacking courses we typically make the recommendation for new ‘street hypnotists’ to use the CIQ model, which is compliment, introduction, question. When meeting someone, essentially here I’m putting the same idea forwards, but I feel I’m adding a bit of
depth into the way I see the approach from a pick up perspective. If you want to get really good as a hypnotist the most important skill you can learn is the actual approach of meeting strangers and giving them a positive perception of your character as a cool person.

Touch

An important aspect of pick up is escalation of touch, eye contact, proximity, isolation without making it seem false, forced, put on, formal, arranged, pre planned etc. it should feel spontaneous, accidental, automatic, passionate, electric, sparkle, natural, lustful. So to
do this we have various recommendations when meeting girls, Lightly touch her abdomen as if by accident. Hold her back as you pull her forwards so she talks into your hear so you can hear what she’s saying loudly. And Hold her back, accidentally touch her bum as you
lean into her ear, look her in the eye as you move across her face, sometimes be very close as if your lips could touch but only for a moment as you move across to do something else.

One of the biggest mistakes that pick up artists make, is that they check that a girl is interested on every step of escalation. For example they might touch a girls arm and wait for the girl to touch his arm before he progresses to touch her back. Or he might give her direct
eye contact, and wait until she looks at him and smiles or gives eye contact before he continues to touch her abdomen, a lot of times you won’t get such explicit signals from girls. Therefore it’s a much better tactic to continue escalating, but at a pace that seems to
naturally suit the flow of events, rather than any neediness you experience.

Let your imagination run wild with this picture

In Hypnosis, hypnotists often ruin their results by checking that the subject is ‘really hypnotized’ and if they experience any evidence that isn’t with their model of what they expect the subject to be doing then they assume the subject isn’t hypnotized. The classic example is where a subject laughs during hypnosis and the hypnotist suddenly thinks ‘your not hypnotized’ and decides to wake them up, other more complex examples might be when a hypnotist sticks a subjects feet to the floor then requests that the subject steps forwards (so the hypnotist can prove to himself that they are hypnotized) but the subject does step forwards (as a response to the suggestion) which then makes the hypnotist believe the subject was not hypnotized.

I always tell street hypnosis students, the clearer you can illustrate exactly what the subject should be doing; task related instructions then the better a hypnotist you’ll be. As pick up is a very goal-orientated sport, you should be delivering the clear message to your compliant subject that ‘you fancy me’ this should be conveyed in everything you do but never explicitly stated, the equivalent scenario in hypnosis would be saying “if you can wake up from this trance then you’re not hypnotized” say this and the subject will just open their eyes and say ‘I can’t be hypnotized’.

These mistakes are the majority of reasons that a hypnotist will loose a compliant subject after the subject has agreed to engage with the imaginative process. Explicit instructions for actions, without confusing the agreed events to occur by checking or asking for conflicting signals is important in preventing labeling compliant people as ‘resistant’.

Your So Close Don’t Kill It

Never go meta.in your conversations; is something I constantly tell students, what is meta? Meta is when you talk about the process of something, or comment on the macro-elements about something rather than refer to the process of experiencing it. With guys learning pick up, they tend to mention attraction to girls, or expect agreement from them to actually say ‘yeah I like you’.

You should never imply anything is other than ‘of the moment’ if something’s funny it’s because it’s funny, Its like when someone tells a joke and someone goes “that’s funny” that response sounds sarcastic because they are so detached from the actual experience of the
joke that they almost analyze it in the third person. By you doing this to people around you it teaches them how to detach and speak in the third person about experiences you try to create in their head.

You can say too much, the girls preconceptions, misconceptions about what she wants, who she wants to be, her past experiences might be brought up by the things you say. Sometimes its best just to focus on what she wants and going with the moment.

In martial arts, you use the other persons energy to make your moves have more strength, it’s the same in conversation, go with the flow, be like water.

Why get consent, when it’s clearly already on

Talking about sex, talking about attraction, when your going to meet up, go round each others houses, turns it into a business contract rather than an amazing something that just happened! It takes the energy out of it, it makes it cold, formal.

You don’t need to have her explicit consent about sex or attraction or her even liking you if you know you’re the bomb, why would you care anyway?! Read her signals use that as the tell tale signs that its on.

Kissing is a ideomotor yearning, how can you tell someone wants to kiss you, because when you move closer to them they move closer to you, a kiss should never be thought about or preplanned its just your coping each other so much that you just come together in a
moment.

Conclusion

Game is simple, you want it, she doesn’t want it until it happens. If you don’t want the result ‘to get with girls’ then either don’t play or find a way to make yourself want it (i.e. change your psychology using the steps mentioned above; it will help you get over ex, judging
people, worrying about your career etc.) . Once you’ve decided you want to play, then your job is to work them up until they experience the phenomena and then go binary and say “now your experiencing that right?” but until then, it’s about the building of linear
responses, you never can explicitly state it.

From linear “Tighten up that arm, make a fist, no consciously make that arm really tight, I’m telling you to make that arm tight”, to binary “and Now realize it’s tightened all by itself, like it’s just stuck out there” is similar to ‘touching touching, eye contact, talking into ear, brushing of faces” to “kissing” binary to “you’re really pretty” binary.

This article was intended to show various parallels between street hypnosis and pick up. Many of the techniques described here could be seen to be advanced. I would always argue that the majority of success with hypnosis comes down to set up, yet this is something that is never talked about in hypnosis training courses and books. What we’ve outlined should be considered a model for subject selection, with particular focus on the niche of picking up hot chicks in busy environments.

The Man Himself.....Vince Lynch

This is a guest post from my good friend Vince Lynch. Vince is a man of many talents. He’s a master hypnotist,  trainer and an expert PUA (Pick Up Artist). Although in some circles he’s just known as an international man of mystery.

I was able to influence him (buy him a few drinks) to take a few minutes out of hypnotizing random strangers on the street with the Headhacking Crew (which Vince is a part of) and talk to us a little bit about his unique blending of Hypnosis, PUA, Influence & Persuasion.

In this post Vince breaks down his views on what Street Hypnosis can learn from the PUA community. Now I know for many of you this may seem like a very “out” there subject. I know some of you are interested in this subject from talks behind the scenes and I know some of you may not like the subject of PUA at all.

Either way, as Hypnotists we can all stand to learn a thing or two from Vince if we just keep an open mind. Whats On My Brain has always been about Hypnosis, in all it’s forms and pushing the boundaries of tradition. So pay attention because Vince has provided some really interesting insights and parallels between these two field. The pickup community, is a population of 20,000 plus men from estimates of those who participate in forums membership etc.

Seduction as a community really took off with progressions in telecommunications as the internet was developed and newsgroups sprang out. Ross Jeffries got hold of the newsgroup, seduction.alt which suddenly caused a rush of demand for trainings in how to get girls using the newly popularized NLP method developed by the guru.

Until 2005, Ross Jeffries had pretty much a tight grip on the community, other trainers existed sure, for example David De angelo. I didn’t become aware of pick up as a movement until 2006-7, although I was aware of Ross Jeffries when I first became a Hypnotist in 2002-3.

The main problem with pick up, is simple, girls in nightclubs don’t know who to pick to elope with. They have too many guys competing for their attention. So the solution from certain members of the PUA community is to isolate the target, which is to say to take them somewhere quiet and speak to them, historically using hypnotic language. Other members of the community argue that nightclubs aren’t worth it, and its better to meet people with more time, tourists, café’ goers, etc. who are more willing to pay attention to your ideas.

Vince Doing Street Hypnosis With Some Lovely Girls

This argument can help us understand why hypnotists tend to struggle to hypnotize a 100% of people. Because the results depend on the situation in which the target is selected. In street hypnosis, you request that someone’s time is allocated to you, to engage in a process using their imaginative capabilities, you also frame that it will be outside of their control. Providing someone follows these steps, then they will be hypnotized (I rarely use inductions, conversational has always been my thing). Although they might have a range of reasons for why their attention isn’t fully placed on these ideas, and misconceptions about what they think they should be trying to do with their mind, during the process. A hypnotist’s job is to teach them how.

So, great! Then how about we spend all day in café’s picking up girls! Newsflash; café’s have the occasional older woman, most of which aren’t single, and its not a particularly sexually hot atmosphere (unless you have some kind of weird fetish for coffee that is).

Whereas nightclubs, yes you guessed it, are full of tons of scantily clad hot young fit women, who are crammed into a dark room to grind against random strangers. Sexual harassment at its best! I’m surprised it doesn’t spark plenty of ‘if you don’t win, we don’t charge court cases’ but anyway. How in this noisy crammed competitive environment where gaining someone’s attention is so tricky can we be expected to hypnotize the most in demand girls.

People say; “Vince….Wouldn’t it be great if, someone could just point out a girl in the crowd and say ‘make her cluck like a chicken’ and you could” Under certain circumstances, people’s attention is competed for by so many other sources. They don’t know you and have friends, boys trying it on with them, etc.

For this reason, I’d like to talk about how to hypnotize hot girls in busy nightclubs. As I believe we can learn many lessons from it.

Who said Hypnotists Don't Get Girls?

People who know me think I hypnotize everyone I meet, this simply isn’t true, I work very hard to pick my subjects. If someone pointed out a subject and said hypnotize that person there… I would go through a specific procedure to defy the odds of you can only hypnotize 1 in 5 people rule. . I would always argue that the majority of success with hypnosis comes down to set up, the way you manage and select subjects yet this is something that is never talked about in hypnosis training courses and books.

Already from this article you can probably think of times you failed to hypnotize someone, and now realize in hindsight that you never properly set up an agreed relationship where they can pay attention to the ideas you present.

Inner game – is a topic that is heavily discussed in PUA, it dictates the attitudes that a seducer should have when he goes out into the field, its believed that attitude and state are the important in how the seducer acts, and how he is perceived by potential mates.

There’s various lessons we can learn from seduction and bring into our practice as hypnotists. One of which is the talk in pick up about Zen. What is Zen; it’s a mind-set and attitude usually associated with Buddhism, this attitude is referenced by many PUA instructors as what they believe is the central reason they get a lot of girls, the reason they often don’t write about it in textbooks is because it’s hard to explain what exactly the techniques, and attitudes associated with Zen are.

To quote the power of now Zen is when you “Just watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction” until you become aware of your own still, observing presence, “the silent watcher.”

I see Zen as a state of relaxation; you can be energetic in your experience of the moment. To quote another Zen philosopher, Andre Gide states “Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys” or Blaise Pascal states “I have discovered that all of man’s unhappiness derives from only one source, not being able to sit quietly in a room”

Hollywood Isn't Ready For Vince Lynch

For me, my hypnosis I didn’t feel satisfied as a hypnotist till 2-3 years after hypnotizing thousands of people, mainly because I didn’t relax about it. I didn’t just trust my own judgements, I went out and I tried to push hypnosis onto people, I set unrealistic targets and expectations on myself.

In seduction Zen is frequently cited as a kind of relaxation; I recommend being energetic in your experience of the moment. Raw energy comes from the freedom of experiencing gestaltian thought cycles. If you cannot relax because you have concerns about your career, life, etc. I really suggest that you take up meditation, naps, yoga, breathing exercises, practice ‘not thinking’ and take up drinking and doing what you feel whenever you feel like it.

Never push onto the world, let them pull into you. I never hypnotize someone who isn’t ready for it, and therefore my results can be very high as I’m only selecting targets who I expect to succeed with because they are willing to pay attention to me, rather than going out and intentionally pushing hypnosis onto people like a dealer would push drugs, I wait for people to become captivated by me, fascinated by my presence and then have them engage in a process for a time being.

If you’re thinking about all of your limitations, all of the preconceptions, all of your judgements on your own life, about which girls are attractive, which ones aren’t, then you aren’t going to get girls to be non-discriminative towards you. You can have standards of what girl your aiming for, but don’t let your wishes and hopes about tomorrow hold you back today. You’ve got from now till forever to get that girl, let’s have some fun.

Get a lot of sleep. Be aware of what time you’re going to be most active and move your sleep patterns around to match it, catch sleep when and where you can. How can you expect to sleep with someone, if you don’t sleep? Surely that’s a contradiction of terms, you need to find the time within yourself to enjoy the moment with yourself and enjoy moments with others. If she doesn’t have the zen like relaxation and enjoyment of the moment, then she isn’t going to experience REM and be able to feel attraction before the close.

The reason I refer to REM is because of studies into it, one way REM is actually identified to be occurring in a research laboratory is guys will experience spontaneous erections while they are going through the REM sleep cycle, girls experience lubrication. This is why you notice morning glory at various points in the morning, because you’ve woke up during an REM cycle as opposed to a Deep sleep. Therefore one of the aims of a seducer should be to ‘stay with’ a target rather than necessarily to ‘attract them’ because the moment you stay with a target they should experience the necessarily emotions that turn the lust into attraction.

Learn to love your own sleep, your resting time, and you can get to find those who also are willing to enjoy time to rest, and relax, and teach those that don’t know how to relax, how to copy you and become more in tune with their deeper hormonal instincts.

Target selection.

“Wouldn’t it be great if a girl could just be pointed out, and she would instantly fancy you” Is something that I hear myself say, and others say all the time. The truth is, by saying that it makes it sound as if it’s really tricky to do that, as if the secret method to do that hasn’t been uncovered yet.

Newsflash; if a girl isn’t going out with someone, there’s no reason other than her preconceptions about what she wants from a guy, or about how much time she has that could get in the way. If she feels all the bodily feelings, and situational factors that makes her believe that she should get with you, then she has no reason not to. Providing you frame the experience so she only sees all the reasons why it’s going to happen, why it’s on, and doesn’t bring up the frames as to why it’s not going to happen, then she’ll get with you.

I wonder how many girls actually took this bet?

However the truth is, in noisy venues with close to a thousand people or more in a tight dark space (which still clearly due to the vast numbers and context are still the best place to pick up girls) girls don’t have the time to pick from all of the 40 guys who have tried it on with them this evening. So they just cold blank refuse them all. Except for a handful of girls who are on it that particular evening, so until further down in this explanation we are going to explicitly discuss how to target those girls your likely to succeed quickly on.

When I first became a hypnotist I wouldn’t have any process for deciding who I went to hypnotize, therefore I would choose subjects who were clearly not wanting to spend their time listening to me, and were just being forced into engaging in this hypnosis procedure with me, then I would beat myself up mentally when I failed to hypnotize that person. This mind-set does not exist in this pua-hypnosis approach that I’m outlining.

A reason why women and men are often completely unresponsive to sexual attempts is that they don’t have those ideas, that mind-set ready. It often takes an unresponsive girl from 30 minutes, to 5 hours to heat up to sexual ideas.

One reason that certain girls and guys automatically have sexual ideas present is there for various hormonal, cardio-vascular, and nervous system reasons. Which as specified can be overcome through relaxation, focus on the moment, and by staying together. However girls in nightclubs who can be spotted to be immediately on are the ones with High Testosterone levels at that moment in time.

Testosterone levels in women in men fluctuate over the week, (testosterone levels are highly linked to sexual libido, as well as blood dilation; promoted by a healthy diet of fish, vegetables, fruit and lack of meaty, fatty foods, vegetarians have been shown to experience stronger orgasms etc. although slightly chubby girls have stronger sexual libidos as a rule compared with skinnier girls) the simple fact is, they are not ready for you to progress onto sexual ideas without you placing the ideas into their heads through an often lengthy, hypnotic-compliance building procedure that we will later describe.

Who said a little bit of self promotion is bad? Not Vince...

When people aren’t in this sexualized state, they will naturally discriminate against any sexual attempt, as the guy/girl isn’t interested in engaging in that process with you as they are preoccupied with another goal in their mind. Just as sometimes men discriminate about what is their type, whether they really want the girl and bring all their preconceptions about what they want sometimes, and then overtimes they have no discrimination’s, they are just Horney, full of life, and want to stick it in something. Girls are the same, sometimes they care about types, other times they just want to have something put inside of them and feel used.

That’s not to say that you can’t close girls who aren’t in the ‘in the moment’ state and then make her feel attracted, of course you could but you will have to do all of the kino escalation, comfort building steps before a close will feel genuine and sincere, because it comes from the spontaneity of the moment.

There are only a handful of girls in a given club who are actually genuinely dancing, genuinely feeling the moment, who are up on life. Unless you’ve got an opportunity to take the girls who are ‘cold’ the ones who have only come out because their friends are out, the ones who still have oneititus from their last boyfriend, or from the guy that they half know, or they simply don’t feel genuine because of work, career, worries, money. Sure given the opportunity for them to place their attention on you, and you talk to them you can change this, but in a highly competitive environment you simply can’t bank on that until you isolate them.

Know what you’re up against, read the venue, that way you can’t blame yourself when you don’t pick up any girls. Look around and spot the ‘hot energies’ and the ‘cold energies’ both in guys and girls, be aware that a hot energy might quickly meet a guy, or have just been with a guy and for that reason she might decline you because she is locked into his monopoly. (A girl isn’t really ever declining, she’s just doing something else)

To bring this back to hypnotism, I will often once I gain someone’s attention I might take them outside to an isolated area to perform the hypnosis, this way I can be sure that they have committed to the process in the sense that they have left their friends and gone for a walk with me. And I can check visually if they appear to be listening to what I am saying.

In seduction a lot of the game is considered ‘won’ the moment that you do this exact move, the moment you have took the girl to an isolated area and begun escalating it usually quickly leads to a kiss close or more providing you bounce to a location where further intimacy is possible.

This is the end of part 1 of this 2 part article series; here we have discussed what to do up to the point that you have a subject isolated, in the sense that they have explicitly agreed to spend a moment paying attention to what you have to say. Part 2 will describe how to take this initial portion of interest gained, and progress it into further compliance and responsiveness.

Isn’t it odd how time just passes by? It’s been a little over 2 years since Sean Michael Andrews came onto the scene with his first 2 disc DVD project titled Instant and Rapid Inductions.

This was one of the first projects released within a decade that actually took the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions and broke them down into a step by step process in a classroom setting.

If you’ve been a reader of my Hypnosis blog for sometime you know I actually reviewed Sean’s first DVD when it was released. I’ve seen a lot of different trainings and as far as content went it was one of the best I’ve seen on the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions. I still, to this day recommend it as a great resource for anyone interested in learning hypnosis.

Now as much as I liked the content you also know I put everything on the table. While the content of Sean’s first DVD was great the production quality wasn’t that good. The sound wasn’t very clear and went out at times as well as lackluster video editing. Still, for Sean Michael Andrews first time out the game I thought it was a pretty decent undertaking and in many ways that released helped to take Sean from being the Street Hypnotist everyone on Youtube was talking about to being an international known hypnotist and trainer.

Sean Michael Andrews Is Back For Round 2 With His Newest Release

After 2 and half years and 6 DVD projects later Sean Michael Andrews is back with a brand new project called Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition.

Yup, Sean has taken it back to the beginning, back to the DVD that helped launched his career and decided to upgrade his popular Instant and Rapid Induction Training DVD. Now, let me be upfront and hopefully clear something up for all of you reading. When I say an update I really mean more like….Sean Michael Andrew started over from scratch and rebuilding this project from the foundation up. In reality…..this is a completely new training program, not just an upgrade.

I wanted to clear that up because as I’m sure you know when people usually create a second edition or a 2.0 program they usually keep the main program, but just add a few extra clips or scenes or maybe just add a special bonus or two. This is how most product creators handle product upgrades no matter what the industry or profession. Lucky for us this isn’t the case with Sean’s Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition project.

Exactly What Is Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition?

This program contains completely new material which comes from a variety of settings such as classroom, office and street. So you not only get to see Sean perform all his inductions and techniques within a classroom setting, but you also get to see him put them to work on the streets and his office. The first project from Sean was filmed entirely in a classroom so you only got to see Sean at work within that setting, but not the second edition.

If you’re into street hypnosis then your going to love this project as it features tons of examples performed live in the streets. If your into more of the traditional office approach Sean also has tons of examples and he also has tons of classroom examples too. In addition, Sean also provides step by step instructions within the different environments as well. So you can see how his approach changes for the different settings. Another big change from his original program is that the second edition is three DVDs instead of two. So your going to get a lot more content and the training won’t feel as rushed as it done with the first edition.

As I mentioned above Sean decided to keep this version much more open and free. It also includes clips from varies locations around the United States and Canada. Wow! Sean has come a long way since his little classroom project. I guess we can now say Sean is an international man of mystery (okay, bad joke!)  I guess being a funny man isn’t in my future lol.

You Feel Like Your Getting A Much More Rounded Training

Before I start breaking down the actually product and getting to the meat of this review I feel I have to mention that this hypnosis training feels much more rounded then the first project done by Sean. When you watch the Second Edition you feel like your getting more of a complete training course.

In the past it felt as if it was just a one day class. This isn’t the case with Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition. Sean has become a much better teacher from those days and there is a lot more content to consume. Sean also spends more time with the step by step approach which helps to make this project feel as if it’s a weekend course. I still recommend you pick up the first DVD if possible, but if you haven’t I know for fact that you’ll be able to perform an Instant or Rapid Induction by the time you complete this program. (Keep in mind you have to actually watch it so no shortcuts okay?)

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Production

As most of my readers know when I do a review I like to be through. I can’t stand when people just say a course is good so buy it. If I’m going to spend my hard earned money on something I like to know it’s worth that money. So I always like to talk about the production and design quality in addition to the content the training covers. I know some of you could care less about the production value, but a lot of people do care about this and I’m one of them.

If you bought the first edition of Sean’s training DVD you know that the production on the first project wasn’t very good. It suffered from bad camera work, bad audio and pretty much no editing. The content was great, but the production quality wasn’t that good. I’m not picking on Sean because if the truth be told the majority of hypnosis products have bad video and bad editing.

There Is No Failure, Only Feedback

What I love about Sean is that he never just settles. He is always looking to improve and make every new project better. If you’ve been following his other projects such Amazing Inductions, Inducing The Trance, Deepening The Trance and others you know that the production has got better and better.  I remember talking with Sean a few months ago and he told me something I’ve been telling people for years. If your not good at something then find someone who is and then do only the stuff your great at. This is great advice and Sean put his advice to work for him when he connected with and hired Dale Gardner.

I won’t go into Dale’s background, but the guy is a genius when it comes to production, editing and directing. He has done stuff for VH1, MTV and other credible television and movie projects. The moment he started working with Sean you saw an immediate improvement in quality, sound and design. They have got better with each project, but how is the second edition?

Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition may be Dale’s best work yet. The DVDs have a professional menu which just blows you away when you insert it into your DVD player. I swear it almost looks like something you would see with 3d glasses. Once you click play an amazing intro begins that far surpasses anything done on previous projects. Dale makes Sean look like a rock star in this brand new intro.

Overall the video quality is amazing and even the clips when Sean is doing street hypnosis look crystal clear. The sound is great and you can make out everything Sean is saying even when he’s in the middle of a busy crowd or class. In my opinion this is some of his best work yet. Even the cover art is a improvement for Sean as it really illustrates what the DVDs are all about, Instant and Rapid Inductions. If your someone who enjoys good content and good production value you won’t be let down. Now that I got all of that out of the way let’s move on and see what’s awaiting for you in disc 1….

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 1:

As with previous projects by Sean each disc covers a number of different subjects. All of them which are needed to master instant and rapid inductions. Sean starts this disc by giving a nice overview of what instant and rapid inductions are, why you need to know them, how to use them and why 90 percent of hypnotists are scared to use them.

Sean makes it very clear from the beginning of this disc that his goal isn’t to have you become a carbon copy of him, but to be able to perform these inductions so well that you’ll able to create your own. Sean also goes into detail why Progressive Muscle Relaxation Inductions are just not enough.

Here’s a breakdown of the different subjects Sean Teaches in the first DVD.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that I can’t cover every single thing on the three DVDs. There will be material covered on the DVDs not listed in this review.

The Pre-Talk:

In this section Sean goes into detail about the pre-talk and the important of it when doing hypnosis in general and when doing instant and rapid inductions. Sean actually says something in this disc that caught me off guard and which I don’t agree completely with, but I can see why he does it. Sean doesn’t use the pre-talk to educate the person about hypnosis, but to get them to let you hypnotize them. An interesting statement that could be debated, but Sean does make some interesting points.

In addition, Sean shows you a number of different examples of him performing the pre-talk in different settings and even gives you his exact pre-talk word for word. Sean also covers topics such as working with men and women and how to adjust your approach to fit each one of the sexes as well as the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your clients. (I’m not talking about the Bill of Rights either.)

Suggestibility Tests:

After Sean talks about the pre-talk he goes right into talking about different suggestibility test and how they are to be used properly. As Sean says it’s not a test to determine suggestibility, but how well they use their imagination. (Nice language which I may have to steal.) Once again you get tons of examples of Sean in different settings doing a number of different test such as the Arms rising and failing, the spiegel eye roll test, hand clasp, magnetic fingers and more.

Hand Drop Induction:

This is the induction you’ve seen Sean perform on countless Youtube videos as well as other successful Hypnotists such as Tom Nicoli and Cal Banyan.  Sean teaches you how to do it step by step and provides you all the tips you need to succeed. This section is also where you’ll learn why they work and how to create an instant induction using the flight or fight system and how to spot your window of opportunity.

If you never knew how to do this induction you’ll know exactly how. You’ll learn where to place your hands, special wording, troubleshooting and safety tips to make sure no one is ever hurt. The one thing I enjoyed the most about this part is that Sean talks about something that I teach which is outcome. Yeah it’s cool that you can do these inductions, but you need to know your outcome before you even begin. Intent and Outcome are so important and Sean explains why.

Ambiguous Touch (Milton Erickson’s Handshake Induction):

If your a fan of Milton Erickson then you’ll love this induction. This is the famous handshake induction used by Milton Erickson which made people scared to shake his hand. Sean demonstrates it step by step with a number of different up close angles. You’ll discover where to place your fingers and what to do when it goes wrong, if it does. Sean actually includes a video clip of a client he couldn’t get the Ambiguous touch to work.  See….if big time Hypnotists like Sean mess up

Distraction Filter:

The distraction Filter isn’t an actually induction. It’s a technique to use when working with a client so you can work with that client without them being disturbed by outside influences. Now you may think you know this technique as I taught something similar on my blog, but this goes much further then just noise. Sean uses this for sensation, sound, feelings and more.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 2:

Arm Pull Induction:

This is the other instant induction you’ve seen Sean perform time after time on Youtube videos. As with all the other inductions taught on this DVD you’ll learn step by step how to do it. You’ll see tons and tons of examples of it being performed with different angles. You’ll see every little thing Sean is doing so don’t worry about pausing the DVD.

If you can’t do this induction after Sean breaks it down you don’t need to be hypnotizing anyone. Sorry, but I call it like I see it.

Head Roll Deepener:

You’ll finally look why Sean is always rotating the head of people when he does an induction. The purpose, why it’s done, how it should be done and a number of other deepening techniques are included. This is a pretty in-depth section and Sean covers the finer points as well such as when you should do them, how long, exactly at what point and the ones he personally uses.

Elman Rapid Induction:

Yes, the famous Dave Elman Induction (my favorite). Sean and I are in completely agreement as he also says this is the most powerful rapid induction ever created. You’ll learn why this induction is so powerful and get to see Sean perform in about 4 minutes from start to finish without ever rushing it.

You’ll learn how to study it and the properly way to perform it. Btw, if you’ve been reading it from start to finish your not doing it right. This induction should really be taught in phases and Sean does exactly that. He demo’s each section over and over again going over every little detail. You may, at times get annoyed at how much detail Sean does goes into, but take it for what it’s worth…gold. Its better to go over every detail and get it right then to skip a detail and get it wrong.

You’ll also learn how to troubleshoot the part of the Elman induction that gives most people the biggest amount of trouble…losing the numbers. You’ll learn how to get them to lose the numbers 99 percent of the time and how to transform this induction into an instant induction when needed. You’ll also learn the points of failure so you know how to recognize them and avoid them. In reality this could be an entire course on the Elman induction, but it’s included within this disc. In addition, Sean also goes over information such as hypnotic Amnesia, the use of fractionization and more.

Finger Snap Induction:

This is one of my favorite inductions because it’s so simple and looks so cool that most people would swear its fake. You’ll learn how to do it and once again tons of examples are given within office, class and street settings. I can’t say this enough. Tons and tons of examples are throughout all the DVDs.

Hand Shake Interrupt:

This is one of my favorites as well and if your a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him use this induction on TV many times. This isn’t the Erickson handshake, but the one made famous by Richard Bandler. You’ll learn how it works, step by step. You’ll see Sean do this step by step and how it even works when the person knows to expect it.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 3:

In the final DVD Sean teaches you the stuff you need to know to keep your clients safe as well as information you just need to know if your going to be hypnotizing people in general.

This is a very important to section to watch and please don’t skip it. You’ll learn how to do these inductions safely without bringing harm to your client or yourself. You’ll learn why you should never do falling backward inductions and also get Sean’s personal checklist for safety.

You’ll learn about Unrestricted catalepsy, inappropriate suggestions, false memories and how to remove suggestions properly. You’ll learn what to do when someone doesn’t emerge from hypnosis and how to tell the difference between them being in the Coma State and them just enjoying the feeling of being hypnotized.

In addition, Sean will also go over Negative and Positive Hallucinations, Deepening Techniques, the different signs of Trance and a number of different challenge test. As a bonus you’ll also get to see Sean perform tons of different hypnotic phenomena in the three different settings as well.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Review Conclusion

I know this has been a long review, but as you know I like to make sure you get all the details and facts. Now the big question is do you need this training if you own the first one and the answer is yes. Sean gave you a lot of great stuff on the first one and even some stuff on it that he doesn’t cover on the second one, but the new project is more complete. You can tell Sean has improved his teaching style. You get a lot more information in this round and Sean answers many of the questions left unanswered in the first volume in this new one.

You get multiple camera angles, in depth details and tons and tons and tons of examples. Yes, there is no hiding it I am a fan of Sean’s training. I’ve followed him for a really long time and I must admit I wouldn’t be the Hypnotist I am today without Sean’s help. This 3 DVD set is straight to the point and follows through on the promise Sean makes at the beginning. After watching these three DVDs you should have no problem creating and preforming your own instant and rapid inductions. So if you want a tool for your hypnotic toolbox that can stay with you forever then this is a great investment.

As many of you know I get tons of questions each days about Hypnosis.  These questions range from beginners to Hypnotists who have been practicing for years. Out of all the questions I receive the question I get asked more then any other one is how to do instant inductions.

You would think I would get asked how to work with certain problems or how to even hypnotize someone, but nope. The big question I get from newbies and professionals more than any other question is how to perform instant and rapid inductions. I can’t blame the people who ask this question as Instant inductions are awesome and a very powerful tool for every Hypnotist to process. KC Johnson is one of the rising stars of our profession and just a really cool, down to earth guy. I first ran across KC about two years or so ago while looking for some Youtube videos on Instant and Rapid Inductions. After clicking and watching a bunch of really sub-par videos on the subject I came across a video from KC Johnson.

The moment I started watching the video I was hooked. I felt I was watching an actual Hypnosis training product the way KC produced and edited his videos. He was very professional and his instructions and explanations were simple and concise. Even the description of his videos read like a Hypnosis training manual by giving you more insight into what was going on in the video and the different hypnotic processes KC was using with his volunteers in the videos. It was just refreshing to see someone take a Youtube video so serious and actually provide a lot of useful value.

Patience Is A Virtue

Now, let’s skip forward a couple of months. Over time KC kept releasing more and more videos and his online popularity on Youtube kept growing. KC isn’t new to hypnosis by any means as he runs a very successful offline practice called Paradox Hypnosis, but his online presence was really building some momentum. He was also becoming well known for his use of Instant  Hypnosis Inductions within his videos.

KC was receiving comment after comment from people asking him to teach them how he does his inductions or if he would consider making a DVD on the subject. As an avid learning and fan myself I also asked KC that same question one day on the phone and his response was usually the same which was that it would be something he would have to think about.

See, you need to understand something about KC. This guy cares so much about our profession and holds himself to such a high degree of credibility and professionalism that he just didn’t want to rush into it and create some sub-par product. Can you blame him? There are just too many of these types of products out there in the hypnosis marketplace.

KC is  a very big proponent of students attending live training as you can get hands on practice, instructions and guidance from a qualified instructor which is something you just can’t get with some DVD courses nowadays. So If KC was going to create a product he was going to have to figure out a way to bring that same guidance, quality and level of training to a DVD project and that’s not as easy as you would think. (Trust me, I know) So until he could figure out how that was going to happen, a project from him wasn’t going to happen.

Well, month after month of waiting and I guess the time is finally right as KC has recently released his first Hypnosis Training project and I must say it’s one of the best DVD projects I’ve seen in a very long time. All of the waiting we had to do for a product from KC is well worth it as you can tell the moment you pop this DVD in that KC didn’t make some quick fly by night product.

So it’s truly an honor and pleasure for me to be one of the first people in the world to review KC Johnson’s first project. Instant and Rapid Inductions 2 Disc Set: Including An Overview Of The Fundamentals of Hypnosis

Not Another Instant and Rapid Inductions DVD…

I know, you’re thinking not another damn DVD on the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions. Doesn’t the Hypnosis world have enough projects out in the marketplace from people such as Richard Nongard, Jerry Kein, Sean Michael Andrews and yes, even me.

So do we really need another project on this subject? Well, obvious the answer is yes because this subject is still one of the most requested topics in the world of Hypnosis. You wouldn’t believe the amount of e-mails I receive on this subject alone. So if people are asking and waiting to know even with all of these great resources out there then that tells us people feel they need to know more or maybe have it explained in a different way.

Now, before I continue let me say that KC has done something very different with this project and I’m not talking about a nice looking cover. This is literally the first Instant and Rapid Induction DVD I have ever come across that doesn’t even teach you about instant and rapid inductions till almost 30 min into the second disc. This is not a traditional Instant and Rapid Inductions product by any means…and personally I think that’s a good thing.

Now, before we continue I feel I must give the production of this DVD its own section as it’s the production that sets the stage for this great DVD…

The Production On This DVD Is Game Changing

Let’s be honest, In terms of production quality hypnosis products haven’t had a great history of success. For the most part the majority of hypnosis training videos are outdated and many of them filmed with low quality camcorders. Don’t get me wrong as I believe it’s not always about the quality of the video, but the quality of the content, but it’s nice to have a product whose production quality can match its content.

The production of a project can help define its place in the market and is critical for branding. Luckily things seem to be changing with the hypnosis world as within the last year or so I’ve seen a small surge of really amazing production being pumped out by Hypnotists such as Richard Nongard, Sean Michael Andrews, Igor Ledochowski and a few others who’s name I forget at the moment. These have been the leaders of the pack in so many words…until now. KC’s new product is by far the best product I’ve seen to date in terms of production quality and overall direction. (Sorry Sean, Richard & Igor. I still love you guys though)

It’s a good thing in my opinion as this should start to make others step up their game which can only equal better stuff down the road.

KC hired an actual production company to film, produce and direct this product and it shows from the moment you pop the first DVD in. The quality is high definition at best and the special effects are really great. Yes, he has special effects. There is one part where KC is talking about the different parts of the mind in hypnosis and splits into 3 different people to illustrate some different points. I know I’m not doing it justice so you’ll have to see it for yourself.

Here is a screen shot from the DVD so I can give you an idea of what I’m talking about. You’ll have to watch the DVDs to understand why KC has split himself into 3 different parts, but you will find a clue within the screen shot.

KC uses special effects to illustrate certain points and enhance the learning process.

There are also parts where KC is performing a technique and another KC will pop onto the screen in a different box and describe what he is doing step by step and a lot more. These effects are really cool, but they also serve a purpose as this project uses a lot of visual effects to get his point across and accelerate the learning process. Here is another screen shot to illustrate what I’m talking about so you can get a better picture.

KC will pop up from time to time and provide useful information in the middle of performing a technique.

Something else I enjoyed and those of you who are note takers will too is that KC uses a lot of text on screen during teaching. A nice combination of visual and auditory learning going on. The cool part though is that he leaves this text on the screen for a good amount of time which allows you to take notes without having to pause or rewind. It’s a small feature, but a nice one in my opinion. The DVD is similar to a book in many ways as KC structures the context like a book would by providing you a bullet point list and then going over each bullet point in more detail.

Another nice production feature is KC uses tons of visual examples to get his points across and teach the subject. This makes assimilating the information easy and fun as the visual aids help you to understand the information being presented.  My hats off to his production team as they have really put together a master piece in terms of taking a hypnosis product to the next level. You have to see it to truly understand what I’m talking about here.

Let’s Explore The Secrets of DVD 1

As I mentioned early in the review this project contains 2 DVDs with each one covering a wide array of topics. I also mentioned that KC really doesn’t touch on the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions until the second disc, but there is an excellent reason why he is doing it this way.

Let me explain. Instant and Rapid Inductions are considered to be advanced techniques in this business. They are not hard to do once you understand how they work and in some cases a person can actually just copy what they see someone do and perform them, but usually with a very low success rate because they don’t understand many of the finer elements going on in the background, But still my point is these techniques aren’t hard if you understand some basic fundamentals about hypnosis.

I’m constantly telling people that the induction really is not you need to learn. It’s all the elements and processes that go on before the induction that allow for the induction to happen. Once this principal is understood then anything can become an induction. As most of you know, if you have ever seen an Instant and Rapid Induction training video, the presenter usually assumes that if you’re watching the DVD that you have a basic or advanced understanding of Hypnosis. They just assume this and so they don’t actually cover any fundamentals.

Hypnosis 101 – Always Start With A Strong Foundation

KC decided to take the approach that everyone watching his DVD may have no real experience in hypnosis or a basic understanding at best. As I mentioned in the last paragraph most people will have some type of basic understanding of Hypnosis before attempting these inductions, but what about the people who don’t? What happens if this DVD ends up in the hands of someone who has never actually studied Hypnosis? What would be the result of them attempting Inductions without basic fundamentals?

The answer would be people would be performing these techniques without proper training and instructions which could lead to sub-par performance or even worse. KC doesn’t want his name to be associated with these types of results. So how can a presenter avoid these mishaps and produce quality students?

The best way to avoid this is by making sure you provide a strong overview on Hypnosis fundamentals before even teaching the induction. Even if you’re advanced in Hypnosis it never hurts to go back to basics and refresh yourself on the fundamentals of Hypnosis. This is exactly what KC did with this project. He doesn’t provide a full training course on Hypnosis, but he does go over a lot of material and some that my trainings in the beginning didn’t even cover which I didn’t learn to later on.  So in many ways you are getting two products with this course: A DVD going over the fundamentals and a second one on Instant and Rapid Inductions.

Now I don’t want you to think that all fundamental trainings are created equal because they are not. There are some schools of thought better than others and KC has trained with some of the best and it shows. Some of his fundamental training can be considered advanced concepts and theories depending on who you train with in this business. Here are just a few of the topics covered by KC in Disc One.

- Hypnosis Theory
- Evoking The Hypnoidal State
-The Hypnoidal Five (which is something KC has coined)

- Pre-Hypnosis Protocol and safety and a lot more…

KC has a wonderful teaching style and to be honest I wish I would have learned hypnosis from him years ago as it may have saved me tons of money and time asking questions. He has a unique way of taking the material and breaking it down into steps and then shows you how to put it all together.

KC has the ability to take information and flip it upside down and rearrange it to the point where you feel you’re learning something new even if you’ve been in this business for years.

How To Become An Expert In Rapid & Instant Inductions with Disc 2

Disc 2 kicks off right where KC left off on Disc 1 by finishing up the fundamentals which eventually leads up to KC teaching how to do Instant and Rapid Inductions.

Unlike some DVDs that go over every Hypnotic Induction in the book KC only covers a handful of inductions. Why? Because the simple truth is you don’t need to know every induction in the world to be an effective Hypnotist.

A good hypnotist should know the basics along with a couple of extra ones. KC discusses some of the most effective inductions which happen to be many of the ones that have made him famous on Youtube.

KC starts each induction by first explaining what type of induction he is about to use and then gives a demo on a volunteer. After the demo KC proceeds to explain exactly what he is doing, his thoughts and some of the processes going on behind the scene which you may not notice. Then after all of this he does the induction again with a walk through. Also, during certain inductions the infamous head of KC will pop up and provide some useful thoughts. Ah, the joys of special effects.

KC has a very systematic approach to teaching which is perfect because he is really good at taking big chuck thinking and breaking it down into smaller steps. I have no doubt by the time you’ve reached the induction part of this DVD you will have no problem performing any of them in part to the training and insights you received in disc 1.

Each induction is performed multiple times, some with different angles. The words are spoken clearly so you can hear exactly what KC is saying, and each action is performed smoothly. A result of KC fine tuning each induction. Another quick note to mention is that KC actually explains why these inductions work and what is going on within the body and mind of the client during an induction. This is a critical element in my opinion as it gives you unique insights other Hypnotists may not have.

In addition to learning Instant and Rapid Inductions KC also provides you all the information you need to know after the fact as well. Remember, what’s the point of the induction if you don’t have an outcome or some type of objective? KC covers these topics with the same detail as the induction. He provides demos of each technique and more than one in many cases.

Here are just a few of the topics he covers on disc 2 after the inductions.

- The Structure of Hypnotic Patter
- Deepeners
- Signs of Hypnosis
- Waking Methods and a lot more…

Now, at the end of the DVD we get a real treat. KC takes a member of the production staff who has never experienced Hypnosis before and hypnotizes him right on the spot using the very techniques he teaches in the DVD. It was an entertaining moment and an ah ha moment in many ways as it’s a coming together of everything he teaches within this project. It’s the perfect ending to the DVD as he shows you this stuff works in the real world and not just in theory.

I know, you’re reading this review and thinking it sounds like any other review, but trust me when I say this DVD is truly a work of art and KC should be applauded for the time and effort he has put into this project. You can tell from the production and little details all throughout the DVD that this product was made with a lot of love. KC could have put out another product that was just so so, but instead he made sure he came into this game with all guns firing. (I’m pretty sure he doesn’t own any guns and if he did they would be hypno guns and not real ones)

My Thoughts On What Could Have Been Better

This is going to be a hard section for me to write because I had a hard time finding flaws with this project. I truly believe that no product is perfect and I try my best to give you, my readers a good balance of the good and the bad because I want my reviews to be accurate. Either way, here are a few things I thought could be improved on, added or better in my opinion.

First off, this DVD is really good and the production is so good, but the cover art isn’t the greatest in my opinion. To me, it doesn’t have the impact I would like to see on a project of this caliber. I know this has nothing to do with content, but I think it could give him an edge in the marketplace from a marketing stand point and help to balance out the whole project.

Secondly, I would have really liked to see some street hypnosis involved in this project. KC is known for his street hypnosis work so it would have been nice to see him take some of his moves to the street. Even if he just inserted clips of him performing the inductions and various other techniques it would have been nice.  You can apply everything you learn to street hypnosis, but KC doesn’t do any impromptu Hypnosis except for at the end of disc 2 when he hypnotizes a member of the production staff on the spot.

Thirdly, as well as KC teaches I would have liked to seen him cover the issue of confidence in relation to inductions a little more. This seems  to be a major issue with a lot of people learning inductions. Once again, I believe his method of teaching and breaking down steps will provide students the confidence needed, but it would have been nice to see a little more of that in this project.

After watching this product two different times I couldn’t spot any technical, video or audio errors and I can’t fault KC for some of the stuff I would have liked to see more of in his project. There is no such thing as a project that can satisfy everyone. All we can do is put our best foot forward and hope the products we put out better the community and produce better Hypnotists.

The Conclusion

I’m sorry this was a long review to read, but this was one of the hardest reviews I’ve had to write. It usually doesn’t take me long to write a review, but this project was so good that I wanted to really capture the essence of it within my words. Did I accomplish this feat? Only time will tell in the end. I’m truly honored to have been able to review this product as it makes all those days and nights of reviewing awful products worth it. Just so you know I review a lot of products, but only good ones get the honor of a written review.

If you’re looking for a complete training on Instant and Rapid Inductions then I would give this DVD a shot. You get all the stuff you need to know before the inductions, the inductions and the stuff you need to know after the inductions. KC has a warm confidence which comes across on the screen which will make learning easy and fun. I have no doubt that you’ll be able to successfully go out and use these techniques the moment you finish watching the DVD. The key is that you actually go out and practice because as I say practice makes perfect and I know KC believes the same.

What an amazing week so far! The Pre-Launch For my first product with Taylor Sherman, TRANCED OUT is doing great! We’ve just been getting tons of great feedback, having a lot of fun and meeting a lot of cool Hypnotists.  People are promoting us on Twitter, Facebook, Mailing List, Forums and more.

It’s an awesome feeling to know people support you. Especially when you put so much work and energy into something. There are currently only 7 days left to the release of TRANCED OUT! For the most part stuff turned out really well. We had a few set backs as they were to be expected, but nothing major. By the end of that week Taylor and I had completed our first Hypnosis Training product. It felt amazing, really amazing to take all the knowledge and experience in both of our heads and put them on film for the world to see.

Sometimes Things Don’t Go As Planned

Our goal in the beginning was to release the product within about a month or two after completing filming, but that just never happened. It wasn’t because we weren’t working on it or anything of that natural, but we had a setbacks with things such as editing, production and other issues related to the creation of the product.

Let me tell you this, if you think creating a product is easy then you haven’t really created a product. Digital products aren’t so bad, but creating a physical product takes a lot more work and requires a much steeper learning curve. We really didn’t want to come out of the gate with a digital product. There is nothing wrong with them, but for the most part people associate more value with a physical product. Plus, there is nothing like looking in your mailbox and seeing something you just ordered arrive. For the most part people love to receive packages. Heck, I know I do

Another thing that sort of held us up is we kept finding little things wrong with product and improving them. Taylor and I are both big believers in credibility. We both have business backgrounds and they have trained us to put your best foot forward. I mean, if you create a crappy product you will forever be associated with that crappy product. Your name is on the cover and that is not a good way to build credibility.

When we decided to create this product we knew we were going to put everything we had into this project. We paid attention to all the little details. Stuff most people wouldn’t care about, but at the end of the day even if people didn’t like the information presented in our product they couldn’t say we didn’t put a lot of time and effort into this product. Plus, on top of all of this was we wanted to create something that our customers would love. Hell, if you paying your hard earned money you should get some actual value out of the course. Nothing worse then buying these $40.00 e-books which sell big, but deliver small.

After months of working we finally completed the project. What a great feeling to hold something in your hand that you created. This project took almost an entire year to complete, but in the end the result was worth it to us. So with a completed product in hand  we moved on with our plans.

A Early Success, But Is It Enough?

I don’t have time to go into the story behind why we created this product, but you’re receive that answer soon enough. All you need to know at this second is that we were encouraged to create this product so we decided to offer this product to this group of people first. Taylor and I have a social networking site for anyone who enjoys Hypnosis, NLP and Personal Development called FreeHypnosisCommunity.com which we created a few months ago. So we decided to do a test launch just for the people involved in this network. We thought we would do average as this isn’t some cheap $20.00 product, but the end results were really amazing and quite shocking.

We sold more copies then we had ordered from our production company. In was a nice feeling to know people wanted something we put so much work into. So the orders went out and we received some really great feedback. The launch was quite successful and we honestly thought of just releasing it to the rest of the world, but after some carefully consideration we decided to wait. I know, more waiting…what could be better then that? I say that with tongue in cheek obviously. We decided we needed to provide even more value and that is what we did. We didn’t redo the course, but we did make a few slight modification.

It’s Time To Think Outside The Box

We finished making the changes and still thought to ourselves, how can we be different? How can we take the values that make us who we are and share them with the world. Taylor and I are both experts in online marketing and were going to do the usually. We were going to create a website, create a really long sales letter and place it on the internet. I know, it doesn’t seem like much but I promise you this method works quite well. Still, we felt our product deserved better then just some long sales page. I mean, this product is the collective knowledge of Taylor and me which we have worked on for a almost a year. This was more then a product to us. This was more then just another way to make money. This training product was like our baby in a strange way.

Take a moment and think about something in your life you worked really hard for. Maybe completing school or opening up your first practice or business. Heck, maybe even learning to drive. Can you remember those emotions? Those feelings of joy and happiness. Maybe I sound crazy, but this product contains my heart and soul. I can only hope if you are reading this post and decide to create your own product you care for it and put everything you have into it instead of just treating in as another way to make money.  A product is an extension of yourself, simple and true.

So with all of that being said Taylor and me put our brains together and after a few weeks of going back and forth we finally knew how we would bring our product into this world.

TRANCED OUT Has Arrived

So, as you can tell from the title of this blog post and the story I’ve just told we are finally releasing our first product to the world called TRANCED OUT: The World’s First Instant & Rapid Inductions Home Study Course. So what is the most important skill a Hypnotist can have in their possession? Is It the newest technique? Is it the ability to perform instant and rapid inductions? Is it knowing the exactly what to say?

None of the above is the correct answer. So what is the mystery skill that every Hypnotist needs to have? Well, if you are paying attention and if you noticed the title of this post then the correct answer would be…Confident.

Without a doubt confidence is the number one skill every Hypnotist needs. So why is confidence so important? First off, let’s look at what Hypnosis is exactly. Hypnosis is nothing more then the subconscious communication between your clients subconscious and your subconscious. Yes, I know this isn’t the technical definition of Hypnosis, but just follow me for a moment.

Are You Confident In Your Ability?

People have the ability to pick up little cues which we can’t notice on the conscious level, but the subconscious can. When you are hypnotizing someone you must project confidence or the other person’s subconscious will not allow you to communicate with that person on the same level as someone who projects confidence. When you are confident you come off as the expert, the guy who knows what he is doing.  This communicates a lot on a unconscious level to the other person.

Think about this for a moment. Would you let a doctor who didn’t seem “Confident” operate on you? Would you let someone teach you to drive if they don’t seem “confident” they can drive? The truth of the matter is that people feel comfortable and are attracted to people who are confident. Now in terms of Hypnosis would you really let a Hypnotist hypnotize you if they don’t seem confident?

Ok, Ok…I think you got the point here. Confidence is critically to your success. Still, something has always bothered me as a Hypnotist and a Hypnosis Instructor. If confidence is so important then how come almost 90 percent of the Hypnosis Schools and Training completely leave this subject untouched. They teach you techniques, inductions, scripts and none of this matters because without having the confidence to apply what you learn and the ability to sub communicate confident you will NEVER be an effective Hypnotist.

Personally I think I know why this skill is rarely touched on by most Hypnosis Schools and Training. It’s one thing to tell a person to be confident and project confidence, but the real question is how do you teach someone to become confident inside and project it outward step by step? I mean, what exactly does “you have to be more confident” mean really? I have yet to find a course or product that actually teaches Hypnotist in a step by step system how to become more confident.

Yes…we have self hypnosis CD’s and personal development books on the subject but none of them ever give you the ‘Big Picture’ of it all. I actually got access to the course a few weeks ago and I must say it’s a breath of fresh air. Why? Well, this project discusses a subject that is rarely touched on in the hypnosis world. It’s nice to check out a project that isn’t about weight loss, self hypnosis or stop smoking.  It’s a fresh perspective which is much needed in the world of Hypnotism. Another nice benefit of this product is that it actually provides value to the customer. Confidence is something all Hypnotist need to know if they want to be successful. This is something you can apply to your personal & professional life.

Another nice feature that some may not pick up upon is that Nathan combined the teachings of both NLP and Hypnosis to tackle this subject. Nathan is smart enough to understand that the teachings of Hypnosis provide benefit to the subject of building confidence, but it’s not the sole expert on the subject. NLP isn’t the sole expert on the subject either, but you combine both of them and you have a pretty powerful combination. So when you get into the main part of the course which is the step by step guide you’ll notice a nice combination of NLP teachings and Hypnosis Teachings.

Now, don’t get scared if you don’t know anything about NLP because I don’t study NLP myself and I was able to figure it all out. I have nothing against NLP, but I have just never gotten around to studying the subject. I know a little bit about it, but a knowledge of it isn’t needed to enjoy this program.

Nathan was also nice enough to include a transcript of all the audio’s and video and this is critical I think. One of the reasons is some people learn better from reading and then some people just like to have a written version of what was said laying around. Nathan does talk a little fast sometimes so you may find the transcripts to be a great resource.

What Included In The Confident Hypnotist Program

As I mentioned above the Confident Hypnotist Program is actually a combination of different pieces of content which create the full course. Here is a small breakdown of each piece of content and a few little things I noticed about each piece of content.

• The Ultimate Confidence Secrets – This is the main meat of the course in my opinion. This would be considered your step by step guide.  It also contains some graphs which I found to be very helpful. So if you purchase the course I would start on this one first.

• The Utilization Audio -I found this to be a really great piece of content and one that actually evolves the program. While the Confident Hypnotist is designed to help you become confident you have to ask yourself what to do after the fact. This audio will help you understand how Utilization can be a powerful tool to have in case something goes wrong. Now, to pull this off you will need confidence so it’s a nice addition to the program. Nathan provides clear cut examples and give you step by step instructions on to fully take advantage of this technique.

• Interview With William May – William May is another good friend of mine and an expert at Conversational Hypnosis. I personally found this to be my favorite part of the program. One reason is because the Interview discusses a massive amount of different topics related to confident. The second reason is because this recording tends to really get you thinking about confidence in a way you may never have thought of. William gets you thinking about the good and the bad and gives a lot of great examples. I would recommend you listen to this audio second after the Ultimate Confidence Secrets

• The Instant Induction Inner Game – This is a very useful power point presentation…especially for newcomers who have had trouble with their first induction. Confidence is highly importance when it comes to Inductions. In reality, the induction really doesn’t exist and the other thing going on is the subconscious communication between you and the other person. I really think a lot of people will find this useful. This doesn’t actually teach you step by step how to do an induction but more of an overall on the processes behind the actual induction.

• Subconscious Confidence – This is a a self hypnosis audio Nathan produced to help install many of the unconscious processes of Confidence. This actually is a nice thing to have because confidence starts on the inside of us and Hypnosis helps us to make changes to our internal beliefs. Nathan has a very calming and relaxing voice which I think you will enjoy. I personally recommend listening to this last, but it can’t hurt you no matter what time you check it out.

• The Transcripts – These are really helpful for those of us that don’t like to listen to audio or just like to have a written resource. As far as I know all the transcript for all the above pieces of content will be available. I’m glad Nathan was able to get these made as he was having some problems with the person making the transcripts in the beginning.

• The Silent Hypnotist – This is a special bonus so I’m not going to keep this under wraps for now, but it’s some really great content you’ll enjoy.

So as  you can see Nathan has included a lot of content in this course. I could go into a lot more detail for each piece of content, but I don’t want to give all the beans away. Each piece of content is great on its own but when combined it makes for one hell of a complete course on becoming confident.  Each piece will build upon the foundation you receive in the main content and by the time your done you’ll have a complete and solid  understanding. Now, understanding is one thing so if you buy this course just make sure you take action on the stuff you learn. Knowledge without action is a waste of time in my opinion.

A Few Problems With The Confident Hypnotist

While I have enjoyed this course I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t give you some of the pitfalls of the course as well. We all know that no course is perfect and to only talk about the good parts isn’t fair to you in my opinion. I believed the better informed you are, the better decisions you make.  So here are a few of the issues to me with Nathan Thomas’s The Confident Hypnotist program.

• Sound Quality – The sound quality of most of the audios is very low and hard to hear in my opinion. You have to turn your speakers up to a decent level to really hear.

• Lack of Instructions – I received an early copy of this program so Nathan may have decided to add this to the program when it is actually released. Since this is a digital product it consist of many different pieces of content. So without instructions on what to listen to, read or watch first you really don’t have any idea where to start. Now most people will figure it out by playing around with the different tracks so it’s not a huge problem. Still…It would have been nice to know which direction the author intended us to take with the program.

As you can tell none of these issues are anything that would stop you from enjoying the program, but they are small issues none the less. Either way we all know content is king and that is what we really care about.

The Conclusion Of The Review

In closing The Confident Hypnotist Is A Really Awesome Program that needed to be created in my opinion. We have so many new Hypnotists coming into our profession lacking the knowledge of this skill. This isn’t just a skill for your Hypnosis career its a skill for your personal life as well.

So many people focus on technique when that isn’t the answer. My business partner and friend Taylor Sherman who is an expert on teaching Confidence as well once told me something that I think applies here. He told me before you can win the game on the outside you have to win the game on the inside. Obviously he is talking about developing your inner confidence.

With all of this being said is Nathan’s Program perfect or the end all for this subject…No, it’s not, but it does give you the tools and resources needed to get where you need to go. You get a complete education on the subject as well as the step by step system to install killer confidence in yourself, but at the end of the day you will still have to take action on the information you learn. I’ve been following Jeff Stephens for quite some time and I can promise you…This guy knows his Hypnosis. Now, a lot of people KNOW hypnosis, but what makes Jeff Stephens unique is the way he views hypnosis. I hope everything is going well for you today? Things are going pretty good for me as well. I just got out of the hospital and I’m still alive and kicking so that’s always a good thing. I recently came down with a nasty case of Pneumonia which put me in the hospital for about a week, but things are going better and I’m slowly on the road to recovery.

If anyone wants to send me some healing energy please feel free as I could use as much as I could get. I recently got an e-mail from a young hypnotist in training that was looking for some advice on a particular topic so I thought I would share his question and the answer I gave him in return.

I get a lot of questions, but due to time restraints and the daily joys of running multiple businesses I can’t answer everyone I get, but I do try as I really do enjoy helping people. Rodney is 19 years old and just recently got into hypnosis after seeing a stage show. So just like me when I was his age he started to research the topic of hypnosis and questions began popping up like bubbles. So first I’m going to paste what Rodney wrote me and than I’ll post my response.

Hello Mr. Houghton,

My name is Rodney Witsat and I’m 19 years old and interested in learning more about hypnosis. I ran across your hypnosis blog when doing some research and just thought I would send you an e-mail to see if you could help me with a question. I’m not sure if this address I’m using is correct, but hopefully it is as I would be really, really thankful for any help you could provide.

I recently saw a stage hypnotist at our local fair and it has got me really interested in wanting to learn more about Hypnosis. I don’t have a background in hypnosis and only know about the stuff I have read so far around the internet which hasn’t been really helpful. When the stage hypnotist was up on stage he mentioned hypnosis could also be used to help people with everyday problems and situations. I found this interesting as I just thought hypnosis was done for entertainment purposes, but I see I was way off on this one.

I’m going off of subject a little, but I just wanted to let you know my background a little bit. Let me just get right to the point and ask you my question. During my research I have come across the word “Abreaction”, but no definition was given for it and I’m curious as to what it means.

The e-book I read mentioned they happen sometimes, but instead of going into detail the writer of this e-book skipped over the topic. I was wondering if you could tell what an Abreaction is or what it means. Once again any help you could provide would be great.

Here is my response to Rodney…….

Hi Rodney,

First off, I just want to let you know that you’re not bothering me at all. I enjoy helping people and especially younger hypnotists in training such as you. It wasn’t too long ago that I was 19 and looking for answers.

I hope you stick with it and please keep me updated with your progress. So let’s get down to business and see if I can help you with your question. Before I answer your question I want you to keep something in mind so you don’t get confused later. Hypnotism is a vast profession and just like any profession different people have different ideas and thoughts on different subjects. For instance, you may see 17 different definitions for hypnosis over time so don’t get confused.

It’s not about who’s right and who’s wrong as each definition, idea or theory is correct in some sense. People create definitions to match their beliefs and you would be wise to always keep your mind open to new ideas and new ways of thinking about hypnosis. You’re going to get to a point where you are going to be wondering why some people do one thing and some people do another.

I like to take whatever works for me out of something and leave whatever doesn’t work for me behind. Over time you’ll build up your own ideas and theories about hypnosis, but in the meantime study everything you can and keep an open mind.

Okay, sorry about getting off topic, but I felt that needed to be said. You asked me about Abreactions and what exactly are they in terms of hypnosis.

An Hypnotic abreaction in my opinion is nothing more than an Emotional Purging or outburst by talking out or acting out repressed, or partially repressed, harmful or emotional material. In other words it’s an emotional outburst or a release of held in emotions. This definition will vary depending on who you talk to, but I have found that this definition serves me well.

I learned it from one of my teachers named Gerald Kein. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend you take training from Omni Hypnosis. It’s a great investment and no I’m not affiliated with them lol.

You will hear this word pop up a lot in our profession and most of the time you’ll hear things such as avoid them at all cost or you’ll hear stories of them happening out of the blue and the hypnotist doesn’t know how to handle them.

In my opinion abreactions are a normal part of hypnosis and everyone who practices hypnotism should be trained in how to deal with abreactions.

There are different types of abreactions, but that is beyond the scope of this e-mail at this moment. When I get a chance I’ll send you some more information on that subject. Abreactions are actually quite rare depending on what road you choose to take with our profession. For instance, stage hypnotists or street hypnotists rarely run into abreactions, but they can happen so you should know how to deal with them.

Hypnotic Abreactions do pop up a little bit more if you are going to go the route of actual office based hypnosis also known as Hypnotherapy. Some office based hypnotists avoid abreactions if possible and some hypnotists actually bring abreactions on to do the work they need to do. You tend to see this much more if the hypnotist is trained in Hypnotic regression work.

I do recommend you seek out additional training in regression work before attempting it in the future though. It’s not hard, but it’s a little different then common direct suggestion work. Now I’m getting off of subject here so let’s get back on track. When a person has an Hypnotic abreaction they are reliving the event. It’s just as real to them as the computer screen you’re looking at right now. Some abreactions are very small such as sobering or crying and some can be violent outburst involving screaming, kicking, throwing arms all around and more.

I know it seems scary, but you must remember that the client is reliving some traumatic episode of their past. While it might sound awful sometimes please be aware that the client is not in physical danger and they will not die from an abreaction.

Since you mentioned your doing research on Hypnosis I’m going to assume that within the next few months you are going to start attempting to hypnotize people. I’ll send you some resources later, but let me give you some tips and advice for working with abreactions as I rather you know them now than never learn them later.

Keep in mind they are rare, but if you are in this field for a decent amount of time you will run across them. Here are some simple guidelines to help you out:

1. Never touch the individual when they are having the abreaction. When you are touching the client you risk the chance of anchoring them to the abreaction. What this means is that sometime down the road when someone comes along and touches them on the same spot, which may be the shoulder or hand then the abreaction could be triggered again and they are right in the middle of it again and no one around knows what’s going on.

Now, if your hand is already on the shoulder before the abreaction it’s okay to leave it on the shoulder, but I recommend you remove it completely.

2. Never ever let the client know that you are scared or nervous. The desired outcome would be for you to keep yourself voice nice and calm. This doesn’t mean you can’t up the level of your voice or speak louder so they can hear you over the screaming or crying. The key is to remember you are the hypnotist and you are the one in control. Think about this for a moment, would you let a dentist work on you if he seemed scared of the tools he needed to use? Just say calm and know everything is going to be fine.

3. When working with an abreaction there are 9 very special words that I want you to burn into your brain. These 9 words have been one of the greatest tools available to me. I learned these 9 words from Gerald Kein and I have yet to see an abreaction they didn’t stop.

The nine words are “The Scene fades and you tend to your breathing.” I’m not telling you that other words don’t work, but this is what I use and they work fine for me. Sometimes you may have to repeat them once or twice and the abreaction will not stop the moment you say the words. It may take a moment or two, but just say them in a calm in control voice and you’ll be fine.

4. You are to never work with an abreaction unless you are being paid too. For instance, if you are on stage working with someone or doing street hypnosis and someone has an abreaction it’s not your place to work them through this situation at this time and place. To me this is just very unprofessional.

The proper way to handle this I have found is to let the person know that something emotional came up that they may need or want to deal with and if so they should schedule an appointment with you at the office. Most people don’t remember having the abreaction and sometimes they can be confused. Just let them know if they want to work with it to see you in your office. Please make sure you actually have regression training before hand if you tell them this though.

If you follow these guidelines above you should be fine and remember that abreactions are a normal part of hypnosis and nothing to worry about as long as you know how to deal with them.
