Isn’t it odd how time just passes by? It’s been a little over 2 years since Sean Michael Andrews came onto the scene with his first 2 disc DVD project titled Instant and Rapid Inductions.

This was one of the first projects released within a decade that actually took the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions and broke them down into a step by step process in a classroom setting.

If you’ve been a reader of my Hypnosis blog for sometime you know I actually reviewed Sean’s first DVD when it was released. I’ve seen a lot of different trainings and as far as content went it was one of the best I’ve seen on the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions. I still, to this day recommend it as a great resource for anyone interested in learning hypnosis.

Click Here To Visit The Website For The Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition DVD

Now as much as I liked the content you also know I put everything on the table. While the content of Sean’s first DVD was great the production quality wasn’t that good. The sound wasn’t very clear and went out at times as well as lackluster video editing. Still, for Sean Michael Andrews first time out the game I thought it was a pretty decent undertaking and in many ways that released helped to take Sean from being the Street Hypnotist everyone on Youtube was talking about to being an international known hypnotist and trainer.

Sean Michael Andrews Is Back For Round 2 With His Newest Release

After 2 and half years and 6 DVD projects later Sean Michael Andrews is back with a brand new project called Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition.

Yup, Sean has taken it back to the beginning, back to the DVD that helped launched his career and decided to upgrade his popular Instant and Rapid Induction Training DVD. Now, let me be upfront and hopefully clear something up for all of you reading. When I say an update I really mean more like….Sean Michael Andrew started over from scratch and rebuilding this project from the foundation up. In reality…..this is a completely new training program, not just an upgrade.

I wanted to clear that up because as I’m sure you know when people usually create a second edition or a 2.0 program they usually keep the main program, but just add a few extra clips or scenes or maybe just add a special bonus or two. This is how most product creators handle product upgrades no matter what the industry or profession. Lucky for us this isn’t the case with Sean’s Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition project.

Exactly What Is Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition?

This program contains completely new material which comes from a variety of settings such as classroom, office and street. So you not only get to see Sean perform all his inductions and techniques within a classroom setting, but you also get to see him put them to work on the streets and his office. The first project from Sean was filmed entirely in a classroom so you only got to see Sean at work within that setting, but not the second edition.

If you’re into street hypnosis then your going to love this project as it features tons of examples performed live in the streets. If your into more of the traditional office approach Sean also has tons of examples and he also has tons of classroom examples too. In addition, Sean also provides step by step instructions within the different environments as well. So you can see how his approach changes for the different settings. Another big change from his original program is that the second edition is three DVDs instead of two. So your going to get a lot more content and the training won’t feel as rushed as it done with the first edition.

As I mentioned above Sean decided to keep this version much more open and free. It also includes clips from varies locations around the United States and Canada. Wow! Sean has come a long way since his little classroom project. I guess we can now say Sean is an international man of mystery (okay, bad joke!) I guess being a funny man isn’t in my future lol.

You Feel Like Your Getting A Much More Rounded Training

Before I start breaking down the actually product and getting to the meat of this review I feel I have to mention that this hypnosis training feels much more rounded then the first project done by Sean. When you watch the Second Edition you feel like your getting more of a complete training course.

In the past it felt as if it was just a one day class. This isn’t the case with Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition. Sean has become a much better teacher from those days and there is a lot more content to consume. Sean also spends more time with the step by step approach which helps to make this project feel as if it’s a weekend course. I still recommend you pick up the first DVD if possible, but if you haven’t I know for fact that you’ll be able to perform an Instant or Rapid Induction by the time you complete this program. (Keep in mind you have to actually watch it so no shortcuts okay?)

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Production

As most of my readers know when I do a review I like to be through. I can’t stand when people just say a course is good so buy it. If I’m going to spend my hard earned money on something I like to know it’s worth that money. So I always like to talk about the production and design quality in addition to the content the training covers. I know some of you could care less about the production value, but a lot of people do care about this and I’m one of them.

If you bought the first edition of Sean’s training DVD you know that the production on the first project wasn’t very good. It suffered from bad camera work, bad audio and pretty much no editing. The content was great, but the production quality wasn’t that good. I’m not picking on Sean because if the truth be told the majority of hypnosis products have bad video and bad editing.

There Is No Failure, Only Feedback

What I love about Sean is that he never just settles. He is always looking to improve and make every new project better. If you’ve been following his other projects such Amazing Inductions, Inducing The Trance, Deepening The Trance and others you know that the production has got better and better. I remember talking with Sean a few months ago and he told me something I’ve been telling people for years. If your not good at something then find someone who is and then do only the stuff your great at. This is great advice and Sean put his advice to work for him when he connected with and hired Dale Gardner.

I won’t go into Dale’s background, but the guy is a genius when it comes to production, editing and directing. He has done stuff for VH1, MTV and other credible television and movie projects. The moment he started working with Sean you saw an immediate improvement in quality, sound and design. They have got better with each project, but how is the second edition?

Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition may be Dale’s best work yet. The DVDs have a professional menu which just blows you away when you insert it into your DVD player. I swear it almost looks like something you would see with 3d glasses. Once you click play an amazing intro begins that far surpasses anything done on previous projects. Dale makes Sean look like a rock star in this brand new intro.

If you click the video below you can check out the intro for yourself and see the type of work Dale does for Sean.

Click Here To Visit The Website For The Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition DVD

Overall the video quality is amazing and even the clips when Sean is doing street hypnosis look crystal clear. The sound is great and you can make out everything Sean is saying even when he’s in the middle of a busy crowd or class. In my opinion this is some of his best work yet. Even the cover art is a improvement for Sean as it really illustrates what the DVDs are all about, Instant and Rapid Inductions. If your someone who enjoys good content and good production value you won’t be let down. Now that I got all of that out of the way let’s move on and see what’s awaiting for you in disc 1….

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 1:

As with previous projects by Sean each disc covers a number of different subjects. All of them which are needed to master instant and rapid inductions. Sean starts this disc by giving a nice overview of what instant and rapid inductions are, why you need to know them, how to use them and why 90 percent of hypnotists are scared to use them.

Sean makes it very clear from the beginning of this disc that his goal isn’t to have you become a carbon copy of him, but to be able to perform these inductions so well that you’ll able to create your own. Sean also goes into detail why Progressive Muscle Relaxation Inductions are just not enough.

Here’s a breakdown of the different subjects Sean Teaches in the first DVD.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that I can’t cover every single thing on the three DVDs. There will be material covered on the DVDs not listed in this review.

The Pre-Talk:

In this section Sean goes into detail about the pre-talk and the important of it when doing hypnosis in general and when doing instant and rapid inductions. Sean actually says something in this disc that caught me off guard and which I don’t agree completely with, but I can see why he does it. Sean doesn’t use the pre-talk to educate the person about hypnosis, but to get them to let you hypnotize them. An interesting statement that could be debated, but Sean does make some interesting points.

In addition, Sean shows you a number of different examples of him performing the pre-talk in different settings and even gives you his exact pre-talk word for word. Sean also covers topics such as working with men and women and how to adjust your approach to fit each one of the sexes as well as the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your clients. (I’m not talking about the Bill of Rights either.)

Suggestibility Tests:

After Sean talks about the pre-talk he goes right into talking about different suggestibility test and how they are to be used properly. As Sean says it’s not a test to determine suggestibility, but how well they use their imagination. (Nice language which I may have to steal.) Once again you get tons of examples of Sean in different settings doing a number of different test such as the Arms rising and failing, the spiegel eye roll test, hand clasp, magnetic fingers and more.

Hand Drop Induction:

This is the induction you’ve seen Sean perform on countless Youtube videos as well as other successful Hypnotists such as Tom Nicoli and Cal Banyan. Sean teaches you how to do it step by step and provides you all the tips you need to succeed. This section is also where you’ll learn why they work and how to create an instant induction using the flight or fight system and how to spot your window of opportunity.

If you never knew how to do this induction you’ll know exactly how. You’ll learn where to place your hands, special wording, troubleshooting and safety tips to make sure no one is ever hurt. The one thing I enjoyed the most about this part is that Sean talks about something that I teach which is outcome. Yeah it’s cool that you can do these inductions, but you need to know your outcome before you even begin. Intent and Outcome are so important and Sean explains why.

Ambiguous Touch (Milton Erickson’s Handshake Induction):

If your a fan of Milton Erickson then you’ll love this induction. This is the famous handshake induction used by Milton Erickson which made people scared to shake his hand. Sean demonstrates it step by step with a number of different up close angles. You’ll discover where to place your fingers and what to do when it goes wrong, if it does. Sean actually includes a video clip of a client he couldn’t get the Ambiguous touch to work. See….if big time Hypnotists like Sean mess up

Distraction Filter:

The distraction Filter isn’t an actually induction. It’s a technique to use when working with a client so you can work with that client without them being disturbed by outside influences. Now you may think you know this technique as I taught something similar on my blog, but this goes much further then just noise. Sean uses this for sensation, sound, feelings and more.

Click Here To Visit The Website For The Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition DVD

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 2:

Arm Pull Induction:

This is the other instant induction you’ve seen Sean perform time after time on Youtube videos. As with all the other inductions taught on this DVD you’ll learn step by step how to do it. You’ll see tons and tons of examples of it being performed with different angles. You’ll see every little thing Sean is doing so don’t worry about pausing the DVD.

If you can’t do this induction after Sean breaks it down you don’t need to be hypnotizing anyone. Sorry, but I call it like I see it.

Head Roll Deepener:

You’ll finally look why Sean is always rotating the head of people when he does an induction. The purpose, why it’s done, how it should be done and a number of other deepening techniques are included. This is a pretty in-depth section and Sean covers the finer points as well such as when you should do them, how long, exactly at what point and the ones he personally uses.

Elman Rapid Induction:

Yes, the famous Dave Elman Induction (my favorite). Sean and I are in completely agreement as he also says this is the most powerful rapid induction ever created. You’ll learn why this induction is so powerful and get to see Sean perform in about 4 minutes from start to finish without ever rushing it.

You’ll learn how to study it and the properly way to perform it. Btw, if you’ve been reading it from start to finish your not doing it right. This induction should really be taught in phases and Sean does exactly that. He demo’s each section over and over again going over every little detail. You may, at times get annoyed at how much detail Sean does goes into, but take it for what it’s worth…gold. Its better to go over every detail and get it right then to skip a detail and get it wrong.

You’ll also learn how to troubleshoot the part of the Elman induction that gives most people the biggest amount of trouble…losing the numbers. You’ll learn how to get them to lose the numbers 99 percent of the time and how to transform this induction into an instant induction when needed. You’ll also learn the points of failure so you know how to recognize them and avoid them. In reality this could be an entire course on the Elman induction, but it’s included within this disc. In addition, Sean also goes over information such as hypnotic Amnesia, the use of fractionization and more.

Finger Snap Induction:

This is one of my favorite inductions because it’s so simple and looks so cool that most people would swear its fake. You’ll learn how to do it and once again tons of examples are given within office, class and street settings. I can’t say this enough. Tons and tons of examples are throughout all the DVDs.

Hand Shake Interrupt:

This is one of my favorites as well and if your a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him use this induction on TV many times. This isn’t the Erickson handshake, but the one made famous by Richard Bandler. You’ll learn how it works, step by step. You’ll see Sean do this step by step and how it even works when the person knows to expect it.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 3:

In the final DVD Sean teaches you the stuff you need to know to keep your clients safe as well as information you just need to know if your going to be hypnotizing people in general.

This is a very important to section to watch and please don’t skip it. You’ll learn how to do these inductions safely without bringing harm to your client or yourself. You’ll learn why you should never do falling backward inductions and also get Sean’s personal checklist for safety.

You’ll learn about Unrestricted catalepsy, inappropriate suggestions, false memories and how to remove suggestions properly. You’ll learn what to do when someone doesn’t emerge from hypnosis and how to tell the difference between them being in the Coma State and them just enjoying the feeling of being hypnotized.

In addition, Sean will also go over Negative and Positive Hallucinations, Deepening Techniques, the different signs of Trance and a number of different challenge test. As a bonus you’ll also get to see Sean perform tons of different hypnotic phenomena in the three different settings as well.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Review Conclusion

I know this has been a long review, but as you know I like to make sure you get all the details and facts. Now the big question is do you need this training if you own the first one and the answer is yes. Sean gave you a lot of great stuff on the first one and even some stuff on it that he doesn’t cover on the second one, but the new project is more complete. You can tell Sean has improved his teaching style. You get a lot more information in this round and Sean answers many of the questions left unanswered in the first volume in this new one.

You get multiple camera angles, in depth details and tons and tons and tons of examples. Yes, there is no hiding it I am a fan of Sean’s training. I’ve followed him for a really long time and I must admit I wouldn’t be the Hypnotist I am today without Sean’s help. This 3 DVD set is straight to the point and follows through on the promise Sean makes at the beginning. After watching these three DVDs you should have no problem creating and preforming your own instant and rapid inductions. So if you want a tool for your hypnotic toolbox that can stay with you forever then this is a great investment.

One of the most important things a Hypnotist needs to know is how to market him or herself. If you don't have new clients coming in more than likely you won't be in business for long.

Marketing Your New Hypnosis Business

Many people find that after they go through lots of hypnosis training and gather their diplomas and degrees they just have no clients and no understanding of how to market their new practice. Let me give you some real tips that will help you do just that without spending unnecessary money.

First and foremost, let me suggest that you do not waste your money with newspaper or phonebook ads. They will do little or nothing to bring you clients…they just don’t work!

11 Proven Ways To Promote Your Hypnosis Business

Here are a few ideas for you to get the ball rolling and build your reputation and client base without breaking your bank account. These are things that have been proven to work well by me as well as others I have consulted with.

1) Do Comedy Hypnosis Shows – without a doubt, this is the number #1 way to get clients. Once people see you in action on stage, they will perceive you as an expert. Far too many hypnotists avoid doing these shows and it’s unfortunate because most people get their first impressions about hypnosis through seeing these performances. You see, almost every person who seeks out a hypnotherapist for treatment, does so after seeing a live Comedy Hypnosis Show …plus you make some extra cash for doing the shows.

2) Public Libraries – check with your local librarians and see if they ever bring in public speakers for interesting and informative information for their patrons. It’s an ideal way to get the word out that there is a hypnotist in the area and you can pass out literature about your business. Perhaps teach self-hypnosis, do sessions on smoking cessations, weight control, study improvement, just pick some popular subjects and get the word out.

3) Use business Networking – if you look around at the library, you will likely find names of local Business Networking Groups and you should join these groups. You’ll find an abundance of people from these groups, as well as, their family members and associates who will easily seek your services.

4) Work with Non-Profit Organizations – Each community has volunteer organizations that gather weekly or monthly and they all seek speakers to present programs to their organizations. Contact their program directors and see if they could use your services to solve some of their problems like fundraisers. Ask to place an article in their newsletters.

5) Write Articles for Local Papers – provide new articles for the local papers on your own experiences. Give the readers tips on how to overcome stress, how to sleep better, stop smoking, lose weight, whatever. Just get the formatting requirements from the editors and build your reputation. It’s easy and effective.

6) Contact Chiropractors – Get to know local Chiropractors and most are usually fascinated by hypnosis so you can teach the Chiropractor’s clients to relax, therefore making it easier for them to be treated properly. Teach relaxation exercises right at the Chiropractor’s office!

7) Massage Therapists – Find licensed therapists and offer special discounts to their clients!

8. Hair Stylists – People who are willing to spend lots of money fixing up their hair are often ready to spend their money on other problems they face. Locate the high-end beauty salons and offer the owners a free hypnosis seminar for their customers …something like a free weight-loss seminar. This should lead to individual clients or even paid weight-loss workshops! And you can do these right at the salon.

9) Medical Doctors – eventually you will need to get a referral from a licensed physician before you can work with someone for pain or any other medically related situations. If you don’t have a referral, you risk getting prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license. Patients are always asking their doctors about hypnotists. You may benefit very well with client referrals.

10) Offer Stress Reduction Seminars – offer these seminars to local companies to help them reduce stress in the workplace. Perhaps offer the first one for free in exchange for testimonials on paper which will help boost your reputation and then charge a fee. This will also help build the individual client list.

11. Business Cards, Brochures and Fliers – Business cards are the least expensive form of advertisement and I recommend using a company like VistaPrint.com or overnightprints.com for the best deals and best quality. Don’t hang on to these cards, give them away to everybody you meet. I even leave them in diners, restaurants, just about everywhere I go. Use fliers sparingly because people tend to toss them away. Brochures are good for targeting certain groups like high schools for hypnosis shows but you can expects less than a one percents return on brochures and fliers.

These are just a few ways to help you get the word out about your new practice without emptying your wallet. Give them a good effort and watch the returns come your way!
Are you able to get the people you are working with to produce Hypnotic phenomena? Can you get them to forget their names or have them become stuck in their seat?

Hypnotic Phenomena…What is it good for?

I am asked this question a lot by both new hypnotists and those who have been in practice for quite a while. They just can’t seem to wrap their minds around the concept, or they are afraid to try different forms of demonstration, so I try to explain what hypnotic phenomena is really all about.

Okay, so you have a clinical client or a stage subject, and you’ve hypnotized them… What now?

Most people think of Hypnotic Phenomena only in terms of Stage Hypnosis skit performances – see the guy start to sweat when you suggest that it’s hot, see the girl raise her arm like a balloon, and so forth.

Unfortunately, this is often the extent of hypnotic phenomena demonstrations you see in stage shows. But there are so many more things you can show the audience and have your subjects experience – beyond just dancing like Madonna or posing like a GQ model. Hypnotic Amnesia is a very powerful demonstration on stage, yet I’ve met tons of hypnotists who don’t use it – won’t even try it – simply because they are afraid that it won’t work.

Get over it – IT WORKS! If the subjects will follow your suggestions to pretend they are swimming like a fish, or to cuddle their shoes as if they are pets, they will also forget their name, where they are from, and who they came to the show with. Confidence – on your part – is all it takes. Full body catalepsy demonstrations were once the expected show climax, but are not really recommended these days, due to safety and liability concerns. However, you can still pull off some astonishing effects with simple arm or leg catalepsy demonstrations.

What Are Positive & Negative Hallucinations?

Positive and Negative Hypnotic Hallucination is just fascinating. Have you gone invisible in front of your guests yet, or made an object become invisible? This is an amazing type of skit that audiences just love, because there’s no denying that it’s really working.

There was once a video clip on the Internet of a stage hypnosis show where the hypnotist actually has an alligator walking across a lady. She is laying on the stage, and she does not see – or feel – the alligator that is climbing over her. This is a demonstration of a “negative hallucination;” something that is obviously right in front of their eyes – is not seen, or felt or heard, as the suggestion may indicate.

“Positive hallucination” is when you tell the subjects that they will see something that simply is not there. A common use of this is when the back of the hypnotist’s pants are said to go missing, and their bare behind shows when they turn around. This generates a variety of giggles and gags from the subjects. If you’ve seen many of Brian David Phillips’ posts recently, you may have heard the term sticky hypnosis. This phenomena generates a ton of bewildered laughs. Stick the subjects feet to the floor, or their hands to their head or to a wall, or their bottom to the chair – and no matter how hard they try, they can’t lift – the harder they try to lift, the more they are stuck. Great fun.

Now, let’s get clinical for a minute. You can easily use Hypnotic Phenomena in clinical sessions, and they can help you achieve long-lasting results.

This client has never been hypnotized before, and he needs to quit smoking for several reasons, immediately. Richard utilizes an eye-focusing awareness induction, followed by a bit of confusion. Then, to enhance the effectiveness of the age-regression ‘as if you never smoked’ suggestions, he works in an arm catalepsy effect to draw out all negative resistance and blocks to success. This video was filmed 11 months ago, and the client has never smoked since.

What Is Arm Catalepsy?

Using arm catalepsy in situations like this – gathering up negativity, anxiety, depression, fear, confusion, anger and so forth – helps to focus intensity on the suggestions, driving them deeper into the subconscious.

This technique can also be useful for ‘giving the client what they want’ when you have one who wants to ‘feel’ the power of hypnosis and to ‘know’ they are hypnotized. To achieve this, after the catalepsy is in full swing, simply have the client open their eyes and see their arm, acknowledge that it’s stiff and rigid, and then close their eyes and pick up where you left off. Sometimes this bit of ‘proof’ will exponentially enhance the therapeutic efficacy for clients who are skeptical or resistant.

In this video demonstration, Richard has the client’s arm drop to release the tension and let go of the negative blockers – but another powerful effect is to have the client open their fist and feel the built up negativity shooting out of their fingertips, out into the ether, dissipating into harmless nothingness, never to return.

Age regression is useful in many clinical situations to help the client remember what it was like before (they smoked, gained weight, became phobic, etc). This helps re-center the subconscious, generating the valid idea that what once was, can be again, and offering a set of emotions and behaviors as resources to draw upon for altering today’s behaviors towards the desired goal.

That’s all I have time for now, but I hope to have offered some interesting thoughts to ponder as you create your next show or get ready for your next clinical session.

Do you know what the best stage hypnosis induction is? Have you spend hours looking for that one perfect induction, which does it all?

Stage Hypnosis – The Best Induction

I think just about every hypnotist has gone through a phase early in their career when they spent a good amount of time searching for that “perfect” hypnosis induction …the one that was going to put anybody and everybody into hypnosis quickly and deeply.

Stage hypnotists are probably deeper into this quest more than anyone. It is truly important to a stage hypnotist to be able to get those volunteers onto the stage and into a good state of somnambulism in the shortest amount of time with the fewest number of people being sent back out into the audience to enjoy the rest of the show from their seats.

After spending a lot of money, I am here to tell everyone to STOP wasting your time and cash and just use the classic stand by, The Dave Elman Induction. Yes, I said, The Dave Elman Induction. Look, there are few inductions out there that do exactly what Elman’s does …it’s all inclusive and works like a charm.

After a good, solid pre-talk, you have only to roll right into the Elman induction and you will find that those people on that stage will respond as easily as they do in the hypnotherapists chair! Of course, you will need to adapt the script to suit your theatrical needs but by following the basic format of this timeless induction, you have a sure fire way of dropping a good number of your volunteers into that sweet lullaby-land we call hypnosis.

How I Do The Dave Elman Induction On Stage

I generally follow the induction as it is with exception at the end when they would normally be asked to count backwards from one-hundred. I just tell them that I will begin counting from 15 down to one and with each count they will go deeper and deeper. It always works!

If you are wondering about testing …don’t! I mean, you’ll know soon enough when you start lifting and dropping wrists who is really with you and who is not. With just the right amount of fractionation, you’ll see first hand who is dropping in and out of state without much difficulty. Throw in a false count from time to time and you’ll spot those fakers in an instant.

Don’t re-invent the wheel here. Take that quality induction given to us by Mr. Elman and alter it theatrically for your show a little and watch the success and the speed of your show increase tremendously without a lot of money being spent on long, foolish inductions and Dave Elman knockoffs that we don’t need. The faster your induction, the more time for your routines, and more you’ll find people booking you for repeat performances.

Thanks,
Stage Hypnotist work with people each and every day and the safety of their volunteers is more important then making people laugh. Stage Hypnotist Rich Wilson shares with us why safety is so important in the field of stage hypnosis and shares some tips to make sure you stay safe...

Stage Hypnosis – Safety First!

The world of Stage Hypnosis is a wonderful world that many of find exhilarating to say the least. Taking a group of individuals and placing them somewhere between Cleveland and the Outer-Limits can really make you feel “special” but, in all honesty, you MUST keep your feet planted firmly on the ground …at all times. Let me explain.

Recently, there have been a large number of insurance claims being placed due to people getting hurt during stage hypnosis performances and this is unacceptable. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for anyone to be getting hurt at a stage hypnosis show …except …if the hypnotist is not being 100% responsible during the show …period!

Look, people step onto that stage expecting to experience something unique and they are automatically thinking that there is no real risk to sitting in a chair and zonking out. WRONG! If you are not taking every single precaution prior to and during YOUR show, then you are the number one risk to those volunteers on that stage. No way around it. They are YOUR responsibility from the time they walk into your showroom.

You Must Be A Stage Hypnotist and Secret Service Agent!

Long before the show begins, before the attendees enter the room, before your sound check is completed, you need to be there and looking everything over like a secret service agent. You should leave no stone unturned because, again, YOU are responsible. Let me tell you a few things to think about when getting ready for your audience to come through those doors.

When it comes to your staging area, you MUST make certain that the area where people will be seated as your volunteers is completely safe and clear of anything that could cause harm and this includes extra items left on or near the stage like furniture where someone could fall and crack their heads, like slippery spots on the stage, like making sure the stage itself is deep enough and wide enough so that no one falls into an orchestra pit and breaks a neck, like making sure that all of the chairs on stage are secured together with something like strips of Velcro at the base so that they don’t move apart and someone pinches an arm, leg or neck when sliding down. Make sure you also have “spotters” all around the stage area and down in front and be certain the spotters are responsible and are aware of what to look for.

You are the one in charge and you are the one who must keep an open eye for anything could possibly go wrong during that stage performance. There is not a single hypnotist in the business who should be going out on stage and standing on any person to prove catalepsy. I don’t care how much you want to show off. You have no idea about that person’s health and even if you do, you shouldn’t take a chance.

If you step on someone, you look like the all-powerful Oz but you may soon get a lawsuit from someone who suddenly discovers a way to make some money. Why chance it? My point is this, you are an entertainer but you must always be thinking “safety first.” Your eyes must scan the stage at all times during every second of your show so that nothing, nothing gets away from you.

These people are placing their trust into your hands that they will be looked after so that you can make some money so, you owe them by being the safest hypnosis show anywhere. Maybe if more hypnotists would think like this, there would be a lot less of the claims being made against the insurance companies.

Thanks,

Many who start out with the greatest of intentions and dreams of being the best stage hypnotists often drop out shortly after they begin. There is no doubt that stage hypnotists have somewhat of an advantage over a hypnotherapist simply because of the theatrical advantages associated with being on stage …there’s a mystique that naturally comes along with the lights and curtains and showmanship.

It is difficult for any hypnotherapists to compete with flash and glitz. This is why many who start out as a hypnotherapist turn to doing stage shows. Almost every stage hypnotist will tell you that they are approached after their shows by people who want help losing weight or to stop smoking …these are simple leads that could be considered as part of the BOR (Back Of The Room Sales) like CD’s and DVD’s. What could be better than performing a show, showing how you can drop ten to twenty people into hypnosis and then having several audience members rushing the stage and asking for an appointment for your services?

The problem for many stage show wannabe’s is that they get the usual Las Vegas seminar trainings that teach you a limited number of so-called techniques and then they are sent home only to find that they really don’t know what to do. I have seen it hundreds of times and it’s sad to see so many waste hard-earned money only to search elsewhere to find the “real” secrets to stage hypnosis. I truly feel bad for these people and would be more than happy to offer up solutions if they contact me.

Even Stage Hypnotists Need A Hypnosis Pretalk

Now, to the reason for writing this hypnosis blog. I have gone to many lengths to watch new and upcoming performers do a stage hypnosis show and I have witnessed many a perplexed face as one volunteer after another walks off of the stage …never to be hypnotized. “What went wrong?” is written across the forehead of the hypno-newbie standing on stage. There should be no reason why these people didn’t drop into a deep trance, everything was done by the book …almost. There is one very important thing missing and it’s the one main advantage that the hypnotherapist has over the stage hypnotist – A Good Hypnosis Pre-Talk.

If you want make certain that you will have the odds in your favor when you begin your stage induction, you had better make sure you provide the best Pre-Talk possible to your audience. I mean, cover as much as you can to dissolve any doubts, fears and misconceptions that every individual sitting out there might have.

Dispel the untruths, wipe away the Hollywood images of zombie-like people being forced into following the wishes of the evil hypnotist (people still believe this stuff) and provide a sense of safety to everyone including yourself. Believe in what you are saying and your volunteers are more likely to believe you too. Take the time to perform a few suggestibility tests like the locking hands, locking fingers or even the lemon test and get the entire audience involved. You may not locate all of your best subjects with these but it’s a great way of showing many that you know what you’re doing.

I would also suggest that you take the time to learn some solid, tried and true rapid and instant inductions (I can make a few suggestions on these trainings). Nothing blows away an audience better than having a hypnotist pull someone out of the crowd after a few suggestibility tests and drop them into a deep state of hypnosis BEFORE there was even an induction! Remember, you are an entertainer at that time …entertain them! Stack the deck in your favor every night and you will not be one of those who quickly dropped an exciting career before it ever got off the ground.

Go out prepared and come home feeling good about your performances!
