I was taught that everyone is suggestible. The suggestibility test doesn't test whether they are suggestible or not it gathers information about whether using physical or emotional terms during induction are more effective for that particular person.

When training to be a hypnotherapist I learned a technique called Implosive desensitization; alternating between a safe spot, described and imagined by the client, and the situation causing distress, all in a relatively light trance. At the beginning the client will only be able and willing to spend a splitsecond in the traumatic situation before taking "refuge" in his/her safe spot, but experiencing he/she will not be overwhelmed simply because he is in control will allow him/her to spend more time "outside", gaining more control every time, and ultimately not needing to go to the safe spot at all (exept for relaxation only). Sometimes but surely not always just one session will do the trick.

HEY I know this guy! He taught me Rapid & Instant Hypnosis. I 1st learned "clinical Hypnotherapy" back in 1998-ish and was very disapponted. So I vanished from the hypno workld until I saw Sean on the web then in 2008 I went to Orlando and meet him and trained with him down there. That weekend I learned more usable info than the 1.5 years in clinical class not just cookie cut scripts but principles and expand from there so I wasn't stuck following scripts, & a couple other cheats that you'll have to go train with him if you want to learn. Which has helped me 100fold once I get out of BMT/AFC and start my own practice. I want to share what the cheats are but I don't want to release them unless I have his permission, so go train with him

Thank you for posting a well written and laid out Mind Model. I'm trying to help explain it to a friend in need and found more things that didn't lay it out so well than things I'd consider worthy of sharing with her.

Kudos!

If the brain creates its own reality, which is the premise we come from as Hypnotherapists, then how can you be encouraging a delusion? :)

A client believes what they want and need to keep themselves mentally safe, even when that belief may be detrimental to their ongoing lives and become completely unuseful. If they believe they are having a past life experience then aren't they indeed having exactly that? It's not our place to prove that correct nor to prove it incorrect. The clients that ask for Past Life Regression have some belief that it exists and this is part of who they are. Not our decision then to know whether they are right or wrong, simply our decision whether or not to work with them in their reality. I think that by offering PLR you are giving those that have that belief the opportunity to heal themselves by going to a place that is 'removed' from their current lives and therefore able to be objectively looked at by them. The desire is to heal and the outcome is healing! It's all good as long as the objective is obtained yes? :)

That is a great article. One of my clients, not long after I started as a Hypnotherapist came to me about his agoraphobia. Not only was he agoraphobic but he was scared of hypnosis.
I told him I wouldn't use hypnosis, only relaxation and used the same induction along with systematic desensitization under "relaxation" then tasking a few sessions later. The result of course was excellent!

I suppose that this technique would work quite well with Self Hypnosis, during the Affirmation – Visualization stage. I will put it to use and convey my findings.

Greetings from Sweden. I am fairly new at hypnosis, looking for all tips I can get. I love this. I will start using it right away. I just have a question. Do you ask your client prior to the hypnosis, if he/she admire someone or if there is a special ability, wish or something else they want to have? And do you put this wishes in the suggestions before the client go into the circle?

Nice to see a hypnotherapist talking about inner child work. I do a lot of that with my clients whether anxiety or depression or weightless a lot of what we do comes down to inner child work. A client the other day was amazed how different she felt and behaved after re-framing a childhood incident with her father that had plagued her for years. Powerful stuff.

Nice to show hypnotherapy is not just for smoking or weightless!!!

Thanks,
