Hypnosis Trainings I Recommend
As all of you can see things have been pretty active lately. I’ve been working overtime to bring you new writers, articles, events, reviews & a lot more.
I really love working on this blog as it’s been a great journey for me and heck, I wish I could update everyday for all of you, but I do have to work for a living so that limits what I can do.
Well, let’s get on with the topic of this post. Every couple of days I get a few e-mails from Hypnotists and people interested in learning hypnosis asking me what trainings I recommend, courses, books & etc. I had a section up on the blog that dealt with that question a year or so ago, but lost the file due to a computer glitch.
So, since I have been getting a lot of e-mails about this topic I’m going to list a few of the hypnosis trainings, books, courses and etc that I recommend. Please understand that the following list is not in order in terms of reading or watching this one first and so on. Its also not a complete list of training by any means.
You can spend your whole life learning hypnosis and never know it all. The list below is just a couple that I highly recommend as I have taken the training myself in some fashion or it comes highly recommended to me by people I trust in this profession.
What I can say is that if you have studied, read or completed the entire list below you will have more insight into hypnosis then most of the people in our profession. So enjoy the list and I hope you find some value in it.
P.S. You may see some comments by certain trainings and other trainings you won’t see any comments. I just added these little notes as I went along when I felt a small comment was needed. The lack of a comment doesn’t make that training any less valuable.
Hypnosis Training I Recommend
Hypnotherapy by Dave Elman: This is one of the first books I ever read. An amazing insight into one of the greatest hypnosis teachers who ever lived. This book is a must read if you plan on becoming a Hypnotist. You will also learn how to work with certain problems.
Basic to Advanced Hypnosis Training Home Study Course by Gerald Kein: This is the first home study course I got my hands on and it changed my life. It takes you from beginning to advanced and will change the way you look at our profession. Gerald Kein is a living legend in the field of hypnosis and you couldn’t learn from someone better. I recommend this as a great starting point to build your foundation of knowledge.
Regression Hypnotherapy Advanced Concepts & Methods Training Program by Matt Sison & Randy Shaw: These two guys know their stuff and take the field of hypnotic age regression to another level. You get to see real life sessions which really helps the learning process. Matt Sison is also considered to be the heir to the throne of Stephen Parkhill. Highly Recommend this training if you want to take your training beyond Direct Suggestions.
Trancework: An Introduction to the Practice of Clinical Hypnosis by Michael Yapko: While this book may take you a while to read through it’s a must read for anyone wanting to understand hypnosis. It comes at hypnosis from the clinical point of view, but is a must read
Applied Hypnosis and Hyperempiria by Don Gibbons:
Hypnosis In The Relief Of Pain: by Ernest R. Hilgard:
Speed Trance by Richard Nongard & John Cerbone: I really enjoyed this DVD set as it’s filled with tons of examples, humor and just plain good information. I recommend anything by Richard Nongard!
Transforming Therapy: A New Approach to Hypnotherapy by Gil Boyne: A classic in my opinion
Monsters and Magical Sticks: There’s No Such Thing As Hypnosis by Steven Heller:
My Voice Will Go With You: The Teaching Tales of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. by Sidney Rosen
Uncommon Therapy: The Psychiatric Techniques of Milton H Erickson, M.D. by Jay Haley
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Basic to Advanced Techniques for the Professional by Gerald Kein & Cal Banyan: Another good reference book with tons of tips and techniques. Goes into actual techniques, building a practice and a lot more. I really enjoy this book and find myself reading it again every once in a while.
Answer Cancer by Stephen Parkhill
5-Path Hypnosis Training by Cal Banyan: I really like this DVD Training Program as it takes some of the best trainings in hypnosis and combines them into a systematic approach.
Healing The Body by Using The Mind by Stephen Parkhill:
The Power of Conversational Hypnosis by Igor Ledochowski: I know many people think this course is a joke due to it’s ad copy, but I promise you this is the best course I have come across for learning conversational hypnosis. The ad copy was designed to sell this product, but this course contains so much information and value that it’ll take you a couple of listens to understand all of it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The Confident Hypnotist by Nathan Thomas: This is a really great course for anyone looking to improve their hypnotic confidence or if you ever wondered why you weren’t getting the success you should with clients.
great starting point for teenage hypnotists. If your a teenager or young adult and interesting in learning hypnosis from a teen prospective than this is a good beginning. The course includes Manuals, Audios & Videos.
Instant and Rapid Inductions by Sean Michael Andrew: A good introduction into the world of Instant and Rapid Inductions.
The Art of Hypnosis by Roy Hunter:
The Secret Language of Feelings by Cal Banyan: An interesting insight into feelings/emotions and how they help us or defeat us. Really useful insights.
Hypnotherapy Scripts 2nd Edition by Ronald Havens: I’m not a huge fan of scripts, but they can be a good resource for new hypnotists. They can also serve as a form of reference when your not sure where to take the session.
Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Methphors by D. Corydon Hammond: One of my hypnosis instructors introduced me to this book and while it would take you months to read it’s a must have. I consider this book to be more of a reference manual. Gives you insight into working with just about any issue known to man. You’ll thank me later for this one!
Hypnosis for Inner Conflict Resolution: Introducing Parts Therapy by Roy Hunter: Really useful in terms of secondary gain. Great book by Roy, but anything Roy writes is good.
Inductions and Deepeners: Styles and Approaches for Effective Hypnosis – Richard Nongard: A collection of different inductions and Deepeners including transcripts of real sessions with break downs and examples.
Self Hypnosis Masterclass by Adam Eason: Prepare to give up most of your life to complete this course. This thing is MASSIVE! To be honest, I’m still working my way through this course. It’s over 24 disc and it keeps growing. Best course on Self Hypnosis hands down!
Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis: In Medicine, Dentistry, and Psychology by William Kroger
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy for Children by Mrs. Skott-Myhre: I was told about this DVD from a friend after I had some request to work with children. Really great product with tons of information. The presenter really knows her stuff. If you work with Children this is a must!
Well, as you can see this is not a complete list by any means, but I thought I would put out a list of some recommended training to help lessen my e-mail load
If you know of any other really good resources for Hypnotists please place them in the comment area below. Would love to hear what you think!
