On this page, you’ll find all the resources & trainings you’ll need to become a successful Hypnotist.
Since I started this blog I’ve gotten e-mail after e-mail asking me what Hypnosis training, courses, books and resources I recommend to those seeking to become better Hypnotists. I do my best to answer each and every e-mail, but sometimes I just don’t have enough time in the day to answer each and every question.
So to make things easier I’ve created this page which list the trainings, books, and courses I personally recommend. I’ve personally reviewed all of the trainings, books and resources listed below. I’ve studied a lot more material then what’s listed below, but in my opinion the resources below are the best of the best.
Resources I Recommend To Make You A Better Hypnotist
Hypnotherapy by Dave Elman: This is one of the first books I ever read. An amazing insight into one of the greatest hypnosis teachers who ever lived. Elman, who wasn’t a medical doctor taught medical doctors, dentist and other licensed professionals how to use hypnosis within their practices. This book is a must read if you plan on becoming a Hypnotist. It also includes step by step guides for working with many different problems.
The Power of Conversational Hypnosis by Igor Ledochowski: I know many people think this course is a joke due to it’s sales copy, but I promise you this is the best course I have come across for learning conversational hypnosis. The ad copy was designed to sell this product, but this course contains so much information and value that it’ll take you a couple of listens to understand all of it. You can check out a review by clicking HERE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Speed Trance by Richard Nongard & John Cerbone: I really enjoyed this DVD set as it’s filled with tons of examples, humor and just plain good information. A great starting point for learning about Instant Inductions. I recommend anything by Richard Nongard! You can check out a review by clicking HERE
Basic to Advanced Hypnosis Training Home Study Course by Gerald Kein: This is the first home study course I got my hands on and it changed my life. It takes you from beginning to advanced and will change the way you look at our profession. Gerald Kein is a living legend in the field of hypnosis and you couldn’t learn from someone better. I recommend this as a great starting point to build your foundation of knowledge.
Instant and Rapid Inductions by Sean Michael Andrew: A good introduction into the world of Instant and Rapid Inductions. Sean is known as the World’s Fastest Hypnotist and for good reason. I know Sean personally and can honestly say he is one of the best in the industry to learn Instant and Rapid Inductions from in my opinion. You can check out the review by clicking HERE
Jeffrey Stephens Weekend Hypnosis Workshop by Jeffrey Stephens: Jeffrey is a newcomer on the scene, but don’t reject him based on that fact. He has been studying Hypnosis for over 30 years and has one of the most interesting and unique trainings I’ve ever seen. Jeffrey has a down to earth approach and believes that all hypnosis should be simple. This is a great watch if you are planning on working with clients or plan on doing street hypnosis. You can check out a review of this program by clicking HERE.
Hypnosis Marketing Success by Andrew Wilke: The key to any successful Hypnosis practice is marketing. If you don’t market yourself or your practice you won’t be in business long. The number one reason most Hypnotists fail is because they just don’t understand this subject or put the time into it.
This course cuts through the thousands and thousands of marketing books and courses and teaches you only what you need to know for marketing a hypnosis practice. As a bonus you also get a ton of free interviews where some of the biggest names in hypnosis talk about marketing and how they do it. In the interest of full disclosure I am one of the Hypnotist interviewed by Andrew. My interview deals with how to use the internet to market your practice.
Regression Hypnotherapy Advanced Concepts & Methods Training Program by Matt Sison & Randy Shaw: These two guys know their stuff and take the field of hypnotic age regression to another level. You get to see real life sessions which really helps the learning process. Matt Sison is also considered to be the heir to the throne of Stephen Parkhill. Highly Recommend this training if you want to move beyond Direct Suggestions.
The Dave Elman Induction 2 Disc Set by Sean Michael Andrews: If you are a fan of Dave Elman or just interested in learning how to perfect his induction then this is a really good DVD. Sean teams up with Dave Elman’s son for an amazing interview and look into the life of Dave Elman. One disc is Sean teaching you the Elman Induction step by step and the other disc is the interview. You can check out the review by clicking HERE.
Trancework: An Introduction to the Practice of Clinical Hypnosis by Michael Yapko: While this book may take you a while to read through it’s a must read for anyone wanting to understand hypnosis. It comes at hypnosis from the clinical point of view, but is a must read
Applied Hypnosis and Hyperempiria by Don Gibbons
Hypnosis In The Relief Of Pain: by Ernest R. Hilgard
Transforming Therapy: A New Approach to Hypnotherapy by Gil Boyne: A classic in my opinion and one of the greats in our profession. Gil Boyne can be considered the godfather of modern hypnosis.
Monsters and Magical Sticks: There’s No Such Thing As Hypnosis by Steven Heller
My Voice Will Go With You: The Teaching Tales of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. by Sidney Rosen: I recommend almost every book written about Milton Erickson. Milton is considered the creator of Conversational Hypnosis also known as Covert Hypnosis or Ericksonian Hypnosis.
Uncommon Therapy: The Psychiatric Techniques of Milton H Erickson, M.D. by Jay Haley
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Basic to Advanced Techniques for the Professional by Gerald Kein & Cal Banyan: Another good reference book with tons of tips and techniques. Goes into actual techniques, building a practice and a lot more. I really enjoy this book and find myself reading it again every once in a while.
The Confident Hypnotist by Nathan Thomas: This is a good starter course for anyone looking to improve their hypnotic confidence or if you ever wondered why you weren’t getting the success you should with clients. You can check out the review by clicking HERE.
The Art of Hypnosis by Roy Hunter: Roy is well known in the field of Hypnosis and is an expert on Parts Work, which is a advanced Hypnotherapy technique. He has a couple of books and I recommend all of them. Still, this book would be where I would begin if you want to be introduced to Roy Hunter.
The Secret Language of Feelings by Cal Banyan: An interesting insight into feelings/emotions and how they help us or defeat us. Really useful insights. A must read if you are planning on working with clients.
Hypnotherapy Scripts 2nd Edition by Ronald Havens: I’m not a huge fan of scripts, but they can be a good resource for new hypnotists. They can also serve as a form of reference when your not sure where to take the session.
Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Methphors by D. Corydon Hammond: One of my hypnosis instructors introduced me to this book and while it would take you months to read it’s a must have. I consider this book to be more of a reference manual. Gives you insight into working with just about any issue known to man. You’ll thank me later for this one!
Hypnosis for Inner Conflict Resolution: Introducing Parts Therapy by Roy Hunter: Really useful in terms of secondary gain. Great book by Roy, but anything Roy writes is good.
Inductions and Deepeners: Styles and Approaches for Effective Hypnosis by Richard Nongard: A collection of different inductions and Deepeners including transcripts of real sessions with break downs and examples.
Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis: In Medicine, Dentistry, and Psychology by William Kroger
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy for Children by Mrs. Skott-Myhre: I was told about this DVD from a friend after I had some request to work with children. Really great product with tons of information. The presenter really knows her stuff. If you work with Children this is a must!
