As most of you know over the last few months I’ve been posting more and more on the business side of being a Hypnotist. Since I come from a business background I’ve wanted to share insights, tips and techniques which can help improve your hypnosis practice or business. So far the response to these type of post have been really great and I have been receiving a lot of great feedback from fellow Hypnotists. Since the response has been good I’ve decided to move forward with another post dealing with taking your business online which I hope gives you something to think about in terms of growing your business and client base.

Now, if your a SERIOUS Hypnotist who wants to make the art of Hypnotism a profession then its critical to think like an entrepreneur. Most Hypnotists get into this profession to help people and seem to forget the part about making a profit. There is nothing wrong with helping people as I also got into this profession to help people, but I believe there is nothing wrong with making money doing something you love as long as you provide value to your clients or customers. The truth of the matter is how long can you stay in business, helping people if you can’t pay the bills of your business? That’s just something to think about.

An Online Hypnosis Business Is The Right Move

As you can tell from the title of this post my goal is to help you understand how critical and how important it is to expand your hypnosis business online. Anyone can have short term success, but long term success is what we really want because that means we have the power to keep going during the good and the bad. Having an understanding of business, marketing and an entrepreneur spirit is super important, but at the end of the day, in my opinion the key to having long-term success is to take your business online.

The internet is one of the most powerful tools available for business owners today. The Internet allows you to take your business GLOBAL without ever leaving your house. Your reach and influence is 1000x more powerful then anything you could do on your own in an off-line fashion. Why help 10 people when you can help the whole world. Okay, you may not be able to help the whole world, but it’s not a bad dream is it? Some of you reading this article have thought about taking the online plunge, but something held you back. My goal is that this post will motivate you to take action because I think deep down somewhere in your loving, caring brain you know it’s the right move at this point and time.

Great Hypnotists Have Something In Common

I want you to take a moment and think of all the Hypnotists in our profession that stand out from the rest. When I take the time to reflect upon those Hypnotists I come up with names such as:

• Gerald Kein
• Tom Nicoli
• Calvin Banyan
• Adam Eason
• Richard Nongard

Now, it’s quiz time here on whatsonmybrain.com and the question is beside all of these Hypnotists being great trainers, what else do they have in common? You guessed it. All of these Hypnotists have online businesses.Think of how you discovered most of the Hypnotists you look up today. I’m sure you heard about most of them from some online form of marketing or referral. These Hypnotists were smart enough to know that to be successful long term you have to get with the times and take action to combine the internet into your existing business somehow.

Google Replaces The Yellow Pages

The search engine Google has pretty much become the new Yellow Pages. People no longer need to scroll through endless pages as all they have to do now is just type in what they are looking for and within seconds they have instant results. Technology has spoiled many of us, myself included to the point where we want information FAST.  In many aspects, community has even moved online. Everything from Social Networks, Dating Sites, Online Classes, Watching TV and more.

Let me give you an example for a moment. Let’s say Sally wants to find a Hypnotist to work with for something as simple as a fear of snakes. Sally turns on the computer, starts her internet and goes to Google.com to search for a Hypnotist. She types in her area or state and then the word Hypnosis and then clicks the search button. Within moments Sally has some results right in front of her. She sees a Hypnotist located about 60 miles from her as that is the closet one Google can find. She scrolls through a couple of pages on Google and nothing.

So she decides to give this Hypnotist a call and books a session. She would prefer someone in her area, but this is the closet one in her opinion since that is what Google gave her back. Now, the funny thing is your office is just 15 min away from her house, but because your not online with a web-page, business or whatever this client never found you. You just lost a possible client, possible money and all the referral that could have come from her business. Will every  potential client seek out help in this fashion, no, not at all, but a lot will. Especially younger or middle aged people who are use to the internet.

Gerald Kein from the Omni Hypnosis Training Center has one of the biggest online Hypnosis businesses in the world. People discover and purchase his Hypnosis Trainings from all over the world. You heard me right, ALL OVER THE WORLD! People discover his site, find the product or service they want, click the purchase button and then he makes money and helps people while just sitting at home. This is a perfect example of leverage. Once you set up your site/online business it will always work for you with very little work on your part. You do the work once and it will make you money over and over again.

What Hypnosis Services Or Products Can I Sell Online

Now, this is assuming you have some type of service or product to offer. It’s not hard to create products to sell but it does take some time and energy. Now, you don’t have to create products to have an online business. You can just have a simple website which tells people about your hypnosis practice and how you can help them. I still recommend every Hypnotist have at least some type of product or service to sell. I hear you saying well, what about you Josh? Where is your product? Well, I actually have two products which are in the finishing stages which will be released within the next few weeks. Better late then never is what my mom always used to say.

Here are a few ideas of different services or items you could sell

• Training DVDs
• Audio Programs
• Recordings
• Consultations
• Sessions – using Skype
• Books
• Home Study Courses
• E-Books & More.

Those are just a few services or items you could translate into an online business. All it takes is some effort and some brain storming.

I Just Don’t Have The Skills To Start An Online Hypnosis Business

Now, I know your thinking this sounds great Josh and I can see the benefits of moving my business online, but I don’t know where to start as I don’t have the technical skills or knowledge to set something like this up. This is actually a very common concern and it’s a valid one. The truth of the matter is that starting an online business is not rocket science. It’s no different then learning a new skill. Think of it in terms of when you first got involved in Hypnosis. When you got started you didn’t know anything about Hypnosis, but eventually after some time you learned.

I highly recommend you seek out some good training in the field of starting and running an online business. Now, you know I’m going to provide you with some resources and tips so don’t worry. Don’t let the FEAR of not knowing something stop you from TAKING ACTION. I personally build and maintain all my online businesses and  yes, I have a few beyond this website and even beyond the niche of Hypnosis. Now, you got to remember I’ve been trained in business, management, marketing and online business and marketing. I know for a fact that not everyone will be cut out for building an online business themselves and that’s fine. It’s actually super simple and all you really need is a wordpress blog to get started. Start small and then make small improvements over time which yield big results.

For people who don’t want to mess with building a site and setting it up then don’t. I highly recommend you use a service called Elance.com which is a online company that allows you place a job online and hire people who respond to your job request. I’ve been using this service for years and it’s gold and it’s free. I have found employees, writers, editors, website designers and just about anything you need.

All you have to do is visit the site, post the job you need done such as building you an online store or website and then wait for people to bid on the job. Then you can hire them based on their bid and other items. Now this brings up another issue which is how do I know what to tell him I want? This goes back to what I said earlier. I highly recommend you get training in starting and running an online business as it will save you time, money and energy in the long run. I also don’t want you to worry because I’m about to give you access to a resource which could change your business and life forever because I know it changed mine and many other successful Hypnotist.

Learn How To Start An Online Business From One Of My Teachers

Now, we all know I didn’t start out with massive amounts of knowledge in the field of online businesses and marketing. Hell, I still learn new stuff every day. The only reason I know some of this stuff now is because of my background in business and marketing. I, like everyone else on this planet learned from other people. People who are where I want to be eventually. I’ve learned from a lot of them, but there is one teacher  I would like to recommend to all of you interesting in learning how to start and run an online business and his name is Eben Pagan.

Some of you may know the name, but I’m going to take a wild leap and assume most of you don’t know who this man is. Eben Pagan isn’t a hypnotist, but he is one of the leading online business trainers in the world and has trained some of the most successful people and many well known Hypnotists in how to start and run an online business. I would like to give you some of the names of Hypnotists he has trained, but those people may get offended that I gave that information out to the general public. Hell, to be honest, I may get some hate mail from this post because I’m sharing an insider secret here with all of you. Eben Pagan is very well known by the Hypnosis Gurus and I know many of them keep this guy a secret because they don’t want others to learn the same stuff and become their competition.

Please excuse me for what I’m about to say, but I think that is a load of Bullshit! If we want our profession to grow by leaps and bounds we should all help each other to become the best we can. There is plenty of clients to go around for eeryone.I’m sure most of them would be okay, but I rather not start an internet war. Either way, I don’t believe in hording information. I know Eben Pagan is a powerful business resource and I have no problem sharing that with all of you. Eben isn’t a Hypnotist, but he is an avid personal development student and teacher and he, himself has learned from some of the best. He was even recently featured and interviewed by Tony Robbins for a new make money online program that Tony has released.

In Conclusion

Having a physical business is great and you can still be quite successful without being online, but going online along with your physical business is a smart move in my opinion, but you must remember that just because you start an online business doesn’t mean your going to explode with success overnight. Just like anything in life you must put time and energy into it. I can’t make you take my advice, but at least I’ve provided a few resources to help you along the way.
