I was a little nervous because as I just mentioned I don’t do this type of thing much so I had to step out of my comfort zone, but in the end I can only get better right? I want to thank everyone that turned out for the call. It really means a lot to John and me.

So How Did The Call Go?

For the most part the call went really good. The call was supposed to only last an hour, but we ended up going for an hour and a half. We did have some audio problems during the first half of the call which was beyond our control, but the problem correctly it’s self and the second half of the call went pretty smooth I must say.

We had a great turnout with some really big names in hypnosis on the call. My good friends Larry Elman (son of Dave Elman) and his wife Cheryl Elman were both on the call. Honestly I was only expecting my readers and some of John’s, but it was a great turn out.

Beside the noise during the first half John introduced himself and gave background on his experiences, his vision for our profession and why he created the Hypnosis Business Coaching Home Study Course. As I explained before the first call was going to be more of an introduction and a inside look into how his program can help hypnotists to grow their business.

This wasn’t a pitch fest by any means, but the calls were born from helping people to understand the new program from John Weir. Once we finished the introduction we got into the real meat of the Teleseminar calls which is answering questions from John and once in a while myself.

Since time for the call was limited we could only take a few email questions, but the ones we got were really good and John provided some serious value to everyone on the call. John told listeners how to book more clients, how to build websites for free, the difference between branding and marketing and a lot more.

John Weir Answered Questioned From The Audience

After we answered some readers emails ( please submit your questions to us. Anything you want to know about building and marketing your practice and well answer it live on the call.) we moved on to questions from the people on the call. We were hoping for some questions from people, but for some reason people tend to be shy about speaking up on the call. John as well as I have experienced this before with coaching programs we have put on.

Just remember that we are doing this for you. How many times in life will you get to ask two Hypnotists who are experts at building a business and marketing anything you want to know to help you promote and market your business and practice? So don’t be shy…we don’t bite!

Only after the call ended did we find out that a few people did attempt to speak up and ask some questions, but for whatever reason they had some problems with their voice coming through. This is to be expected as technology isn’t perfect and stuff happens. I wanted to use another word for stuff, but you get the idea.

While our profession does have a number of successful, full time Hypnotists the majority are still part time or just doing it as an hobby. I honestly believe that it’s a lack of knowledge on how to get started and where to go.

Hypnosis trainers teach the latest techniques, but rarely teach you how to get people into your office so you can use those techniques. This is a huge problem and one John Weir along with his business partner, Bob Bicknell are trying to solve.

In the field of hypnotism, we have 3 major pillars on which the majority of hypnotists focus their attention on. Two of these pillars are glaringly obvious; weight reduction and smoke cessation. These pillars get a tremendous amount of attention and rightfully so due to our effectiveness in these areas.

Over the years, I have conducted many corporate programs addressing these issues until it dawned on me that I have been neglected the other major pillar in our profession. This pillar is so simple to succeed with, especially in corporate programs, yet it is one of the most under-marketed programs by hypnotists.

Next, as hypnotists we offer something that no other stress reduction program can provide. Throughout the years, I have attended many different stress reduction programs and all of them were the same. All they did was talk about what stress is, and what stresses us out. People know this and don’t need more information on stress what they need are techniques they can utilize.

As hypnotists, we can teach people how to relax, do self-hypnosis, create anchors for relaxation and so on. Not only can we teach techniques, since we deal with the subconscious mind we can help implement these strategies into the mind in such a way that people actually use them when needed. Think of all the type-a people who don’t know how to relax. What valuable skills we can teach them that could change their lives.

Third, stress causes people to find ways to cope. For many this means using negative behaviors like smoking or overeating to distract from the stress. Teaching these techniques can help people resort less to these negative behaviors which can benefit a company tremendously.

Finally, the market for this work is huge. The majority of workplaces are very stressful environments. In addition, most companies have established budgets for employee programs just like what we offer.

One thing that you commonly hear from established and successful hypnotists is that a great majority of their business comes due to word of mouth. Word of mouth business is one of the easiest ways to get your appointment book filled up but how does one get people spreading the word? This blog will give you a few simple strategies to begin achieving this.

The key to creating word of mouth business is by turning your clients into raving fans. To do this, keep this principle in mind, “Under promise and over deliver.” Always go above and beyond your client’s expectations to ensure their success. If you always follow this principle then you will be always creating raving fans of your work.

Next principle to always stay true to is the idea of “Top of Mind Awareness.” What this principle means is continuing to stay in contact with your clients so that you stay in the forefront of their minds and they continue to think of you long after their sessions are completed. Please understand that I am not implying that you spam your clients or send them tons of information all the time. What I mean by this is making some sort of personal contact with them periodically such as a phone call or personal email to check in on them and see how they are doing in addition to your normal marketing. Personal contact like this keeps you at the top of their mid, lets them know that you care, and opens the door of opportunity for other sessions and/or referrals.

Perhaps the best way to create raving fans and steady streams of referral business is to send your client handwritten thank you notes after the session. In the world today everything is electronic and handwriting a thank you note to your clients will separate you from the pack. When you take the time to handwrite a thank you note it conveys love and appreciation to your clients. Trust me if you do this they will remember you forever! Be sure to also include business cards in your thank you note so that your new raving fan can go out and spread the word.

Finally, after a successful session with a client, give them some business cards (always a minimum of 3) and ask them to share them with others who could benefit from a session. When you ask…you receive.

To summarize, in order to generate word of mouth business work on creating raving fans of your work by under promising and over delivering, keep yourself at “top of the mind awareness,” send thank you notes, and ask for referrals. If you follow these principles then you will have a free sales-force of raving fans out there and will keep business flowing in with minimal effort on your part.

In this post, I want to key you in on this mistake on the phone and teach you how you can overcome it to boost your business.

In my experience, when potential clients call my office they typically ask 3 questions. “Do you help people with this problem?” “How many sessions does it take?” “How much does it cost for a session(s)?”

The biggest mistake made by most hypnotists, not properly trained in sales, is giving potential clients direct answers to these questions. What tends to happen when these questions are asked, the ineffective hypnotist will directly answer these questions with something like, “yes I help people do that,” “it will take this number of sessions,” and “I charge this much per session.” As soon as they answer these questions more often than not that ends the phone call and the sale is lost.

If you want to increase your conversion rate and turn your calls into clients then it is essential that you get your potential clients to open up rather than just answer their questions. In life people make three types of investments; time, energy, and money. Your goal on the phone should be to get your client to invest their time and energy into the call which greatly increases the likelihood of them investing their money in your services.

So how do you get your clients to open up? This is very simple to do if you follow two crucial rules. Rule number one is never answer a caller’s initial questions with direct answers. Rule number two is answer their questions with a question. By answering a question with a question it encourages the client to divulge more information about their situation. This is crucial to getting the caller to open up and invest their time and energy.

Here are a few simple examples of this:

Caller: “Do you help people with weight loss?”
Hypnotist: “Can you please tell me more about your situation so I can best answer you based on your needs?”

Caller: “How many sessions does it take to quit smoking?”
Hypnotist: “Can you tell me more about your habit?”

Caller: “How much do your sessions cost?”
Hypnotist: “What is it that you want to achieve using hypnosis?”

These are 3 very simple examples of answering a question with a question. I would encourage you to think about the common questions you get on the phone and how to respond to a caller in a way that gets them talking rather than giving direct answers. Trust me this will increase your conversion rate significantly.

My goal is to have the caller on the phone for at least 15 minutes for several reasons. First, I want the caller to invest their time and energy. Second, I want to use questions to elicit information about the client so I know what I need to say in order to close the sale. Selling hypnosis is all about selling value. It is impossible to sell value if you know nothing about the person and what’s important to them. Finally, I want to create rapport with the person and demonstrate to them by listening that I really care about them.

This is perhaps the most important reason why I want to get them opening up to me. The ineffective hypnotist in regards to selling, answers the caller directly which leaves them with a cold, distant, and unattached feeling to the hypnotist. By spending time with them on the phone and truly listening, the caller will get a feeling of love and connectedness to you. Consequently, they will feel the most comfortable with you and more often than not will become a new client of yours.

In addition, if the caller just invested 15-20 minutes of their time and invested their energy talking about their problems they are unlikely to want to continue to call other hypnotists and do the same thing over again. Even if they do call another hypnotist, most make the biggest phone mistake, and the caller will end up calling you right back to book sessions with you due to the rapport that was created. They will have an intuitive feeling that you are the right one for the job and this all will happen just because of your willingness to listen to them and get them opening up.

By following this simple phone approach you will notice an increase in your conversion of caller into clients. Take time to develop these skills because there are so many people that need your help. Eliminate this common mistake on the phone and watch as your schedule fills up before your eyes. Many blessings to all and happy hypnotizing.

Taking action is what makes your dreams become a reality. Being self-employed and responsible for generating my own income from an early age, trust me I can completely relate to all the fears, doubts, and procrastination one can face as they forge ahead to their goals. In this blog, I want to share with you a few powerful thoughts that has helped me plow past those doubts and helped me take action even when faced with fear.

“Fail Forward Fast.” This powerful thought has helped me tremendously over the years. I heard this line on my first ever audio program “Passion, Profit, and Power” by Marshall Sylver and it has stuck with me. At first glance, this saying may appear to be negative, especially to a group of very positive hypnotists, however if you really absorb what this means you will discover that it is a very positive and effective motivator. Many people worry about making things perfect, fear failure, or want to know exactly what to do in order to succeed. Instead of concerning oneself with these things, it is more important to just take action and see what happens. By taking action you will either succeed or get one step closer to what does.

“The Thought Is Always More Overwhelming Than The Task.” I heard this influential thought from my good friend as well as someone I highly respect and admire, Tom Nicoli. I find this statement to carry tremendous power and one that resonates a high level of truth to me. So often our minds want to play tricks on us in order to maintain the status quo and keep us from growing. The mind tends to make tasks, especially new ones, much bigger than what they really are and such a major thing. Once we transcend past the mind, more often than not we discover that the task itself is relatively easy to accomplish. I remember when Tom Nicoli started World Hypnotism Day and introduced the idea of getting mayoral proclamations from cities declaring January 4th World Hypnotism day.

When I heard this idea it was music to my ears. I thought what an awesome way to do something great for the profession as a whole and in the process get some free publicity. However, even though the entire process was broken down for everybody on the WHD website since it was something I never did before my mind started playing its tricks. My initial thought was it was going to be a difficult task to complete and so needless to say I procrastinated on completing it for weeks. Eventually, it was getting closer to the deadline date for this task and since I was committed to doing this I finally took action. In less than 30 minutes, I had my first mayoral proclamation from the city of Pittsburgh.

The thought of this being a big task caused me to procrastinate for weeks instead of just taking action and realizing how easy it really was. I now always replace any negative thoughts about taking action with “the thought is always more overwhelming than the task” and then just do it. This has helped me majorly. Thanks Tom.

“Champions Are Made When Nobody Is Around.” This is what my father would tell me when I was growing up playing sports. He impressed upon me the concept that time spent practicing equaled awesome results on the playing field. This saying of his has inspired me for the majority of my life. It helped me to realize that in sports, it is too late to develop your skills when you are in the game. Game time is when you demonstrate your skills and talents. The same thing is true about our profession. It is too late to learn hypno-skills when a client is in your office. Use your downtime to sharpen your skills so you can be the most effective you can be in your sessions. I recommend using this powerful saying when you are just sitting around. Trust me it will inspire you to get up and take action.

These 3 powerful thoughts have always helped me when I needed to get up and take action. It is my sincere hope that they will inspire you as well. Always remember that action is the key ingredient to success and achieving your dreams. By just doing something you are always moving closer to your goals.

It is possible to create a profitable hypnosis business without having an office space or working with clients out of your home. In fact, operating your business from a virtual office is an excellent way to keep your costs down, help others, and still grow a big business. Here is what I suggest implementing if you want to operate your business like this.

One of the most profitable ways to grow your hypnotherapy business and help a lot of people in the process is through group hypnosis. Now I understand that many people have a fear of public speaking and have no intention of getting before large groups of people, and that is ok. What I am suggesting is not doing large groups but conducting private hypnosis house parties at the homes of your clients. There are many businesses like Pampered Chef and Mary Kay that operate their business out of other people’s houses and this method has produced a huge number of people that have created financial prosperity doing this. Step one is to contact all your friends, family, and potential clients, and inform them that you are now conducting hypnosis house parties to help people create success. Step two is to get the interested people working for you to help the groups grow. To do this, let the interested person know that if they are willing to host the party and can find 5 or more people to sign up then they can get their session(s) for free. Step three is to go to the host’s house and conduct the session(s). Step four is to ask all in attendance for a list of names and contact information of people who they think would be interested in this type of party.

There are so many benefits to implementing this into your business plan. First of all, it eliminates the expenses that come with an office space. Second, it eliminates strangers from coming to your house for sessions. Third, group sessions like this increase your earning potential for your time. Fourth, when you get an interested host, it is like getting a free salesperson for your business. They do all the work spreading the word about the group and getting people there. This is worth its weight in gold because it gets people to learn about you with no effort on your part. Finally, after you do the group, you can build a new lead list by asking the clients for referrals.

Here are a couple of other side notes. The best house parties are the ones that have mass appeal. Consider doing hypnosis house parties for weight management, stress reduction, success/abundance, and past life regression. In my opinion, weight management and past life regression parties are the best because you can make them multi-session programs. Also, be sure to get the investment for the sessions in advance to eliminate the possibility of showing up for the session and not having your minimum number there.

The technique I’m about to share with you is highly effective at achieving all these things and very simple to do yet it is the most underutilized marketing technique in the field. Once you start using this strategy and start reaping the rewards you will wonder what took you so long to implement this into your marketing plan.

The most underutilized marketing technique in hypnosis is giving free public talks to various groups in your area.

In my opinion, giving free public lectures on hypnosis is one of the very best ways to spread the word about your business for several reasons. One of the top reasons why I love this strategy is because it is free. When I first started in this business, money was very tight for me. Giving free lectures gave me a way to increase exposure of my business and get people excited about my services at no cost to me.

Besides being free, giving a lecture gives potential clients a chance to get to know you personally. When a person enters into any coaching or therapeutic situation trust, rapport, and comfort are three of the essential feelings that need to be present between hypnotist and client for the best results to be achieved. By presenting free lectures, it gives people an opportunity to interact with you, get a feel for your personality, and realize that you are a regular person, not some Svengali like in the strange movies that depict hypnosis. This personal interaction will do far more for you in regards to generating clients than a website or online video.

Becoming The Obvious Expert

Finally, this strategy immediately begins to solidify you as the obvious expert in your area. This occurs for two reasons. First, public speaking is the biggest fear among people. When you give a lecture to a group you get an instant level of respect and credibility because most people are terrified to give even a minute or two long public talk. Always remember that even the worst public speakers are respected.

Second, people make the assumption that if you are speaking to a group than you must be an expert in your field otherwise you wouldn’t be up there. Besides writing a book, public speaking is the fastest way to be seen as the obvious expert in your field. Now that you know some of the benefits of giving free public lectures, let’s cover how to get started.

The 3 Steps To Giving Public Talks

Step one is to find groups to speak for. Did you know that there are hundreds of local groups in your area such as Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, etc that are desperate for speakers to have at their weekly meetings? These groups are perfect to speak for because they composed of your area’s business leaders, movers and shakers, and people who have large networks of people. To get an opportunity to speak for these groups is very easy. Simply go online and do a search for these various groups in your local area. Next, make a phone call and express your interest in speaking for their group. Finally, once you get them to book you, ask if they know of any other local chapters or groups that would be interested in having you speak for them too. It is easier than you would think to line up a bunch of free lectures this way. So get on the phone and line up some lectures.

Step two is to develop a lecture that is 15-20 minutes long. What I typically do when speaking for these groups is give them a modified pre-talk like the one I would give to a new client at my office. In my talks, I usually spend some time building mental expectancy about what is possible by using hypnosis in one’s life, I dispel the major misconceptions/fears, and if time permits I do group activities to demonstrate the power of the mind. If you follow your pre-talk format then it should be very easy to create a 15 minute lecture.

Step three is to promote your services. This is where you can make your free talk into a profitable 15 minutes. An interesting thing that happens at live lectures and seminars is people get emotional hooked, and want to take immediate action on what is being offered. Once I get everyone excited about hypnosis then I do a quick plug for my services. I offer discounted sessions for anybody who books afterwards as well as discounts on my products. These talks have always been very profitable for me. I usually walk out with $150-$200+ in product sales and these lectures have always generated new clients.

Giving free public talks on hypnosis is one of the easiest and most effective ways to generate new business, and become known as the obvious expert in your area. Trust me this method works. Put it to the test yourself because I know you will love the results.

Another easy thing to do that will increase your visibility online is to join as many social networks as you can, such as facebook and twitter. By creating profiles on social networks like these, it is like creating mini-websites for your business all over the net. Social networks are free to join yet the potential is unlimited in the amount of business it can create. A couple simple tips you can do to maximize your social network pages is to always list your website, add captions to pictures that are related to your business, and consistently add content. All of these things can help boost your search engine optimization, or your ability to be found on general searches like Google.

Finally here is something that is new, free, and can benefit every hypnotist immediately increase their visibility online. Recently, a new directory was created that is designed specifically for hypnotists, life-coaches, and NLP practitioners to help them get the word out about their services. When I started my practice at 19 years old, needless to say I didn’t have the capital to put forth a major marketing campaign to grow my business. My abundance of capital didn’t come in the form as money, but as time and energy. As I ponder ways to utilize my resources, I was very fortunate to have been exposed to a concept called “Guerilla Marketing.”

This approach to marketing focuses on inexpensive ways to reach the masses of people. These strategies not only influenced my business when I started but they are the things I am still implementing to this day to inform the public about my services. Of all the guerrilla marketing strategies, the one I am most fond of is the use of the press release.

What Is A Press Release?

A press release, or news release, is a short article submitted to the press that reports news or something that is newsworthy. What is newsworthy? Virtually anything can be considered newsworthy such as completing a certification course, winning an award, speaking at an event, and so on. It is important to know that press releases are not disguised ads. Press releases report nothing but the facts (who, what, where, when, or how) and are written as if you are an unbiased reporter on the subject. When a press release is written proper and accepted by a media forum then it usually turns into free articles in the newspaper, appearances on radio shows or television, and other opportunities in the media. The intention behind this post is to inform hypnotists and coaches of the benefits of using press releases to grow your business as well as to hopefully inspire you to look into this simple process more deeply.

In my opinion, there are 3 key benefits that make press releases one of the absolute best ways to grow your business.

The first reason why I love using press releases is the fact that they are 100% free. When I looked into putting advertisements into the major newspapers or magazines, I was quite shocked how much a single printing of an ad would cost with no guarantee of results. However, most people are unaware that there are other ways to get into the media and get what people pay top dollar to have for free. One of these ways is by writing and submitting press releases. People don’t realize that the media is desperate for news. It takes a tremendous amount of content to fill radio shows, newspapers, and television programs each day. The media wants you as much as you want to be in the media.

All that is required to get thousands of dollars of free advertising is a little creative, time, and energy.

The second key benefit of using press releases is massive amounts of exposure. It’s always been my belief that the golden rule of marketing has always been “more expose equals more business.” Sales and business is a numbers game. The more people who are exposed to what you do the greater the likelihood of someone taking action. Not only are press releases free but they have the potential to reach hundreds of thousands of people. Back in my hometown of Pittsburgh, the major newspapers there had readerships in the range of 400,000 people. Wouldn’t you like to expose your business to 400,000+ people for free? This is the power of the press release.

Massive exposure and for free, doesn’t get any better than that.

Perhaps the most important benefit to using press releases to grow your business is the increase in prestige it brings. Elsom Eldridge wrote a book called “The Obvious Expert” which focuses on establishing yourself in your community as the go to person or the obvious expert in the area. Getting featured in the newspaper and appearing as a guest on radio and television shows is one of the easiest ways to be considered the area’s best. People have the perception that what’s in the media is true and since you were featured than you must be the best or why would the media be featuring you? Press releases are what generate these media appearances and give you instant boost in prestige in your community.

Being The Expert Means More Business

The more you get featured the more obvious your status as the expert becomes which consequently creates an increase in business. Plus, since your feature in the media isn’t a paid ad, it carries greater credibility with the public and potential clients.

When I was asked during the 2009 NGH Platinum Panel of Success “If I could pick just one marketing strategy to grow my business what would it be,” I immediately said the use of press releases. Regardless of where you are at in your business, utilizing press releases is a sure fire way to attract more clients to your office and increase your expert status in your area. In the past decade of working as a full-time hypnotist, I have come to realize that despite all the different approaches to creating wellness through hypnosis there are two things that every hypnotist has in common; we all have to wear two hats to succeed in this profession. The other primary hat that all hypnotists must wear, but the one most often forgotten about, is the hat of the entrepreneur. In order to get people into your office so that you can provide your life-changing service, it is essential that you embrace the entrepreneurial spirit in you. I would encourage you, like I do with all of my hypnotism students, to take the time to get educated on business especially sales and marketing with the same enthusiasm that they study techniques related to hypnosis. Follow the advice of Michael Gerber from The E-Myth, “Take time out to work on your business not just in your business.”

You Always Have Time To Learn A New Skill. No Excuses Please

When I first started my business at 19 years old, I felt very comfortable with my skills as a hypnotist but not so much with my new role as someone who suddenly found themselves self-employed. I can honestly say that I didn’t have the slightest clue on how to grow a business when I got started. I knew that I needed to find ways to let people know about my services however I didn’t know what to do or even where to start. Instead of an education from academia, I decided to get educated through what Zig Ziglar calls “automobile university.” As I cruised around in my car, I would listen to one audio program after another on different business topics in order to understand how to make my dreams become a reality.

Some of my favorite speakers that influenced me in business include Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, Tom Peters, Stephen Covey, John Maxwell, Les Brown, and Anthony Robbins. Besides automobile university, it took a lot of persistence as well as trial and error on my part in order to get my practice to grow and make a living serving others. If you are in a similar situation as I was when getting started, I highly encourage you to turn your car into a university to begin filling your mind with ways to succeed in business.

Wear The Two Hats And Experience Serious Success

Understand that embracing your role as an entrepreneur is just as important to success as being a proficient hypnotist. Take time each day to develop both of these roles so you feel comfortable wearing the two hats of a successful hypnotist. Use your hypnotic skills and link tons of positive, fun energy to spreading the word about your business so that you have more opportunities to share your talents with others in need. When your business grows then that means you have the ability to be a positive influence in more people’s lives and expose more people to the power of the mind.

In my last post Controlling Pain with Hypnosis Part 3 I mentioned I have something cool coming to the blog in the next day or so  and that day will be tomorrow, Friday the 4th.

As we all know when a new year rolls around people like to make changes, improve themselves and set goals. I’m one of these people and one of my goals this year was to add even more value to the hypnosis blog. How Can I Build A Successful Practice?

One of the most asked questions I receive beside “how to do instant inductions?” is how can I build a profitable hypnosis business and get more clients to my office? How can I make more money with my practice?

It makes sense that this question would be asked a lot because without a steady influx of clients you can’t stay in business.  If you can’t keep your doors open for business then you can’ t help people and make money doing what you love. During my years as a professional hypnotists I’ve noticed something with most hypnotists. Most hypnotists seem to have problems with the business and marketing side of things. The truth is if you want to be successful in this business you have to know how to do more then help people. You have to wear two hats, one as a healer/helper and one as an entrepreneur. ( Don’t worry if that didn’t make sense. It will all be explained tomorrow for you.)

Oddly enough I have always found the business side pretty easy as my background is in business and marketing. The troublesome part for me was actually learning hypnosis in the beginning. Another odd thing I’ve noticed is the huge lack of hypnotists taking advantage of one of the biggest marketing platforms available, the internet. My father constantly told me they these powerful words as he instilled the belief in me that in order to be at your best you must do the things champions do in the off time, when nobody is around, in order to perform your best in front of the crowd.

My father taught me many lessons while coaching me in sports and little did I know that some of these lessons would have such an incredible impact on my professional and personal development.

Success isn’t an overnight phenomenon or something that just happens to some lucky people. People who achieve a high level of success are the ones willing to do the necessary activities in their downtown so when the time is right they are prepared to succeed. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and all other sports legends didn’t get to that position without putting in a tremendous amount of time practicing their skills. Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins, and all the other great motivational speakers just don’t go and wing it hoping to deliver a great lecture. Ormond McGill, Gerald Kein, and all the other legendary hypnotists never woke one day with hypnotic powers nor were they born hypnotists. All of these greats lived by the philosophy that my father preached to me as a child. They became the best in their fields because of what they did when nobody was around.

The End Is Just The Beginning

In order to be a successful hypnotist you must commit yourself to a lifetime of learning and constant development. There is a direct correlation in the activities you do in your off time and your ability to achieve success with your clients. During your downtime, you must spend it developing and sharpening your skills so you can be as effective as possible. I tell all of my students, at the end of their certification course, that this isn’t the end it’s only the beginning. Every single day there are new developments in our profession, people developing new techniques, and new ways are discovered to maximize our potential with our clients. The best in our profession are well aware of this fact and spend lots of time reading books, trade journals, and website forums so that they stay up to date with a profession that is constantly growing.

A success deficiency that many people possess is that they wait until they landed a big gig before they start developing the program for it. Successful people do the opposite. The major successes in our profession are always in their lab during their off time developing new programs, products, scripts, and courses. They always think in terms of “when” they get the big jobs and never “if” they do. This attitude keeps their motivation levels high and in the spirit of constant development. When a person combines practice, preparation, and action with opportunity it creates massive success.

Learning Hypnosis Never Stops

It is amazing just how many familiar faces there are at all the major conventions, advanced training programs, and lectures. When these people aren’t at the conventions, you constantly hear them on tele-seminars, or see them logged-on video conferences yearning to learn more. This isn’t by accident. The same way their success isn’t a mistake either. They are constantly learning doing the things that nobody sees.

To be the best you can be, commit yourself to constantly develop your skills and expand your knowledge everyday just like the best in our industry do. So the ultimate question is.what are you doing when nobody is around?
