In part one of this article we covered inner game and target selection. We recommend you read that section first before you continue with the rest of this article.

Nightclubs, and noisy venues can be hard to gain the attention of anyone, when drunk men are bouncing around and causing a lot of hassle for pretty girls. How can we possibly gain the attention of a girl if we expect to hypnotize them or begin to seduce them?

The key to pick up and hypnosis alike, is about building responses which start off small within a person, and then develop them to a point where you can state “You can really feel that can’t you” in Head Hacking courses for a number of years we have referred to this as progressing a linear response and turning it binary.

Read the previous article if you want to know how to start compliance with unresponsive audiences in the competitive scenarios where more than a few hundred people are fighting for attention. The rest part two will continue to describe how to increase this compliance to a goal once you’ve gained interest, fascination, attention, a look, a stare, a smile, or something from a subject.

Let them watch you – Once you notice someone in the audience is paying you interest

With hypnotic subjects, I will have them stand around me for a little bit before I hypnotize them, I tend to watch when I speak who is listening to me, who is paying attention to me when I walk around a venue, then I assume they will be responsive to me, I believe that
their attention isn’t being competed for, or that my competitors for their attention are not as unique, or as useful to the watcher as I am for them, and therefore I have their interest.

In seduction it is said that if you are unique, for example dressed in an extravagant fashion then you have social proof when people in the venue watch you. And you have this massivesocial effect. When I went out and created this effect I would also receive much higher
results as a hypnotist, which lead me to develop this theoretic that I have been explaining this far.

Who said you can't hypnotize bunnies?

It’s really important that your audience ends up investing more energy and time into you than you appear to be investing into them. Sure you need to make them feel somewhat special and not put them down, or make them feel uncool but you need to be clear that you
are to be respected.

It’s important when you are progressing with a girl that you never tell them that you like them, that you never indicate that your wanting attraction with them. This cannot be communicated in either your body language or your words. In the Pickup community this is referred to as ‘indirect theory’.

As a general overview, indirect approaches are subtle, and very “under the radar” versus a direct approach. It gives the PUA flexibility to maneuver the pickup to befriending the girls if they seem not interested in a romantic relationship, or using the targets as social proof and pivots. It also allows for role reversals where the target can qualify herself to the PUA post-attraction as she does not know the PUA’s real intentions. (source:pualingo) while your indirect in your approach in the sense that you never directly convey interest,
while you continue progressing the eye contact, the touching as much as you can get away with without alerting her that she has to make a decision about whether she’s attracted to you.

Because the moment she has to make a decision she will bring up all of her frames and expectations about what kind of man she wants, about how she feels, about work and career and friends that you will likely fail on. She doesn’t know you she has no commitment towards you the moment you force her to make a decision as to whether she likes you, whether the decision was forced by subtext or explicitly stated, you’ve lost the girl.

When you follow Vince's advice this is the response you can get

The reason why building commitment while at the same time being indirect works in persuasion, is referred to as ‘foot in the door technique’. “It’s a compliance tactic that involves getting a person to agree to a large request by first setting them up by having that person agree to a modest request.[1][2][3] The foot-in-the-door technique succeeds due to a basic human reality that social scientists call “successive approximations”. Basically, the more a subject goes along with small requests or commitments, the more likely that subject is to continue in a desired direction of attitude or behavioral change and feel obligated to go along with larger requests” (Source: Wikipedia)

Give them a quick moment to watch you, the impression should always be in their mind that they are watching you way more than your watching them. Give them a moment to see you smile into the distance (never pout into the distance) then look at them a pout a little. (both these looks have evidence sourced from http://stats.OKcupid.com).

Girls are constantly making a decision about you, they want you until they don’t want you.Allow them to find all the reasons about you that they like you and they will only be able to see through that frame. But the moment you say or do something wrong then they will see you through the frame that your ugly, etc. According to the NLP encyclopaedia (nlpuniversitypress.com) the term ‘frame’ is used to refer to a general focus or direction that provides an overall guidance for thoughts and actions during an interaction. Frames
greatly influence the way specific experiences and events are interpreted and responded to.

In hypnosis the pretalk; that is the conversation you have before you hypnotize someone often causes how the experience is interpreted by the subject. It’s the same in seduction if you lead people to believe that you are respected, and attractive, then they’ll probably just go with those beliefs.

Find a shared moment

So a lot of the time an interaction happens, that is when you begin talking, or interacting with a stranger; someone you previously had no connection to, the reason for your ‘coming together’ was that something ‘situational’ occurred. It might be that you notice something
situational about the person you spot, “I think that outfit is great”, “your so happy”, something you state about yourself “I’m in such a good mood”, or something about the environment “Its great in here isn’t it?” it could be that the song in the background is progressing towards a peak.

When doing Street Hypnosis it's so important to stay relaxed and be confident

One of the things it can be is that you two seem to share various things in common, for example you might be dancing in the same manner, or matching each other’s vibe energy, for example moving in the same rhythm, smiling in the same manner. Commonality has been shown by scientists and economist theorists to be one of the main cause for partnerships, as it lowers costs experienced as an individual as you work together producing synergies as a team. Its just a moment where you suddenly acknowledge that your both not
separate identities, you both are together under some kind of shared context and you point this out.

In Head Hacking courses we typically make the recommendation for new ‘street hypnotists’ to use the CIQ model, which is compliment, introduction, question. When meeting someone, essentially here I’m putting the same idea forwards, but I feel I’m adding a bit of
depth into the way I see the approach from a pick up perspective. If you want to get really good as a hypnotist the most important skill you can learn is the actual approach of meeting strangers and giving them a positive perception of your character as a cool person.

Touch

An important aspect of pick up is escalation of touch, eye contact, proximity, isolation without making it seem false, forced, put on, formal, arranged, pre planned etc. it should feel spontaneous, accidental, automatic, passionate, electric, sparkle, natural, lustful. So to
do this we have various recommendations when meeting girls, Lightly touch her abdomen as if by accident. Hold her back as you pull her forwards so she talks into your hear so you can hear what she’s saying loudly. And Hold her back, accidentally touch her bum as you
lean into her ear, look her in the eye as you move across her face, sometimes be very close as if your lips could touch but only for a moment as you move across to do something else.

One of the biggest mistakes that pick up artists make, is that they check that a girl is interested on every step of escalation. For example they might touch a girls arm and wait for the girl to touch his arm before he progresses to touch her back. Or he might give her direct
eye contact, and wait until she looks at him and smiles or gives eye contact before he continues to touch her abdomen, a lot of times you won’t get such explicit signals from girls. Therefore it’s a much better tactic to continue escalating, but at a pace that seems to
naturally suit the flow of events, rather than any neediness you experience.

Let your imagination run wild with this picture

In Hypnosis, hypnotists often ruin their results by checking that the subject is ‘really hypnotized’ and if they experience any evidence that isn’t with their model of what they expect the subject to be doing then they assume the subject isn’t hypnotized. The classic example is where a subject laughs during hypnosis and the hypnotist suddenly thinks ‘your not hypnotized’ and decides to wake them up, other more complex examples might be when a hypnotist sticks a subjects feet to the floor then requests that the subject steps forwards (so the hypnotist can prove to himself that they are hypnotized) but the subject does step forwards (as a response to the suggestion) which then makes the hypnotist believe the subject was not hypnotized.

I always tell street hypnosis students, the clearer you can illustrate exactly what the subject should be doing; task related instructions then the better a hypnotist you’ll be. As pick up is a very goal-orientated sport, you should be delivering the clear message to your compliant subject that ‘you fancy me’ this should be conveyed in everything you do but never explicitly stated, the equivalent scenario in hypnosis would be saying “if you can wake up from this trance then you’re not hypnotized” say this and the subject will just open their eyes and say ‘I can’t be hypnotized’.

These mistakes are the majority of reasons that a hypnotist will loose a compliant subject after the subject has agreed to engage with the imaginative process. Explicit instructions for actions, without confusing the agreed events to occur by checking or asking for conflicting signals is important in preventing labeling compliant people as ‘resistant’.

Vince shares his years of knowledge with a group of students

Your So Close Don’t Kill It

Never go meta.in your conversations; is something I constantly tell students, what is meta? Meta is when you talk about the process of something, or comment on the macro-elements about something rather than refer to the process of experiencing it. With guys learning pick up, they tend to mention attraction to girls, or expect agreement from them to actually say ‘yeah I like you’.

You should never imply anything is other than ‘of the moment’ if something’s funny it’s because it’s funny, Its like when someone tells a joke and someone goes “that’s funny” that response sounds sarcastic because they are so detached from the actual experience of the
joke that they almost analyze it in the third person. By you doing this to people around you it teaches them how to detach and speak in the third person about experiences you try to create in their head.

You can say too much, the girls preconceptions, misconceptions about what she wants, who she wants to be, her past experiences might be brought up by the things you say. Sometimes its best just to focus on what she wants and going with the moment.

In martial arts, you use the other persons energy to make your moves have more strength, it’s the same in conversation, go with the flow, be like water.

Why get consent, when it’s clearly already on

Talking about sex, talking about attraction, when your going to meet up, go round each others houses, turns it into a business contract rather than an amazing something that just happened! It takes the energy out of it, it makes it cold, formal.

You don’t need to have her explicit consent about sex or attraction or her even liking you if you know you’re the bomb, why would you care anyway?! Read her signals use that as the tell tale signs that its on.

Kissing is a ideomotor yearning, how can you tell someone wants to kiss you, because when you move closer to them they move closer to you, a kiss should never be thought about or preplanned its just your coping each other so much that you just come together in a
moment.

Conclusion

Game is simple, you want it, she doesn’t want it until it happens. If you don’t want the result ‘to get with girls’ then either don’t play or find a way to make yourself want it (i.e. change your psychology using the steps mentioned above; it will help you get over ex, judging
people, worrying about your career etc.) . Once you’ve decided you want to play, then your job is to work them up until they experience the phenomena and then go binary and say “now your experiencing that right?” but until then, it’s about the building of linear
responses, you never can explicitly state it.

Vince taking a photo with Ross Jeffries during a break at their seminar

From linear “Tighten up that arm, make a fist, no consciously make that arm really tight, I’m telling you to make that arm tight”, to binary “and Now realize it’s tightened all by itself, like it’s just stuck out there” is similar to ‘touching touching, eye contact, talking into ear, brushing of faces” to “kissing” binary to “you’re really pretty” binary.

This article was intended to show various parallels between street hypnosis and pick up. Many of the techniques described here could be seen to be advanced. I would always argue that the majority of success with hypnosis comes down to set up, yet this is something that is never talked about in hypnosis training courses and books. What we’ve outlined should be considered a model for subject selection, with particular focus on the niche of picking up hot chicks in busy environments.

This is a guest post from my good friend Vince Lynch. Vince is a man of many talents. He’s a master hypnotist, trainer and an expert PUA (Pick Up Artist). Although in some circles he’s just known as an international man of mystery.

I was able to influence him (buy him a few drinks) to take a few minutes out of hypnotizing random strangers on the street with the Headhacking Crew (which Vince is a part of) and talk to us a little bit about his unique blending of Hypnosis, PUA, Influence & Persuasion.

In this post Vince breaks down his views on what Street Hypnosis can learn from the PUA community. Now I know for many of you this may seem like a very “out” there subject. I know some of you are interested in this subject from talks behind the scenes and I know some of you may not like the subject of PUA at all.

Either way, as Hypnotists we can all stand to learn a thing or two from Vince if we just keep an open mind. Whats On My Brain has always been about Hypnosis, in all it’s forms and pushing the boundaries of tradition. So pay attention because Vince has provided some really interesting insights and parallels between these two field. This is part 1 of a two part series and I promise you that by the time you read both of these post you’ll going to be a much better Hypnotist…and Street Hypnotist. Oh, and if your a guy who’s been looking to meet a beautiful women..you may even learn how to do that to in this post. – Josh –

—————————————————-

The pickup community, is a population of 20,000 plus men from estimates of those who participate in forums membership etc.

Seduction as a community really took off with progressions in telecommunications as the internet was developed and newsgroups sprang out. Ross Jeffries got hold of the newsgroup, seduction.alt which suddenly caused a rush of demand for trainings in how to get girls using the newly popularized NLP method developed by the guru.

Until 2005, Ross Jeffries had pretty much a tight grip on the community, other trainers existed sure, for example David De angelo. I didn’t become aware of pick up as a movement until 2006-7, although I was aware of Ross Jeffries when I first became a Hypnotist in 2002-3.

The main problem with pick up, is simple, girls in nightclubs don’t know who to pick to elope with. They have too many guys competing for their attention. So the solution from certain members of the PUA community is to isolate the target, which is to say to take them somewhere quiet and speak to them, historically using hypnotic language. Other members of the community argue that nightclubs aren’t worth it, and its better to meet people with more time, tourists, café’ goers, etc. who are more willing to pay attention to your ideas.

Vince Doing Street Hypnosis With Some Lovely Girls

This argument can help us understand why hypnotists tend to struggle to hypnotize a 100% of people. Because the results depend on the situation in which the target is selected. In street hypnosis, you request that someone’s time is allocated to you, to engage in a process using their imaginative capabilities, you also frame that it will be outside of their control. Providing someone follows these steps, then they will be hypnotized (I rarely use inductions, conversational has always been my thing). Although they might have a range of reasons for why their attention isn’t fully placed on these ideas, and misconceptions about what they think they should be trying to do with their mind, during the process. A hypnotist’s job is to teach them how.

So, great! Then how about we spend all day in café’s picking up girls! Newsflash; café’s have the occasional older woman, most of which aren’t single, and its not a particularly sexually hot atmosphere (unless you have some kind of weird fetish for coffee that is).

Whereas nightclubs, yes you guessed it, are full of tons of scantily clad hot young fit women, who are crammed into a dark room to grind against random strangers. Sexual harassment at its best! I’m surprised it doesn’t spark plenty of ‘if you don’t win, we don’t charge court cases’ but anyway. How in this noisy crammed competitive environment where gaining someone’s attention is so tricky can we be expected to hypnotize the most in demand girls.

People say; “Vince….Wouldn’t it be great if, someone could just point out a girl in the crowd and say ‘make her cluck like a chicken’ and you could” Under certain circumstances, people’s attention is competed for by so many other sources. They don’t know you and have friends, boys trying it on with them, etc.

For this reason, I’d like to talk about how to hypnotize hot girls in busy nightclubs. As I believe we can learn many lessons from it.

Who said Hypnotists Don't Get Girls?

People who know me think I hypnotize everyone I meet, this simply isn’t true, I work very hard to pick my subjects. If someone pointed out a subject and said hypnotize that person there… I would go through a specific procedure to defy the odds of you can only hypnotize 1 in 5 people rule. . I would always argue that the majority of success with hypnosis comes down to set up, the way you manage and select subjects yet this is something that is never talked about in hypnosis training courses and books.

Already from this article you can probably think of times you failed to hypnotize someone, and now realize in hindsight that you never properly set up an agreed relationship where they can pay attention to the ideas you present.

Inner game – is a topic that is heavily discussed in PUA, it dictates the attitudes that a seducer should have when he goes out into the field, its believed that attitude and state are the important in how the seducer acts, and how he is perceived by potential mates.

There’s various lessons we can learn from seduction and bring into our practice as hypnotists. One of which is the talk in pick up about Zen. What is Zen; it’s a mind-set and attitude usually associated with Buddhism, this attitude is referenced by many PUA instructors as what they believe is the central reason they get a lot of girls, the reason they often don’t write about it in textbooks is because it’s hard to explain what exactly the techniques, and attitudes associated with Zen are.

To quote the power of now Zen is when you “Just watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction” until you become aware of your own still, observing presence, “the silent watcher.”

I see Zen as a state of relaxation; you can be energetic in your experience of the moment. To quote another Zen philosopher, Andre Gide states “Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys” or Blaise Pascal states “I have discovered that all of man’s unhappiness derives from only one source, not being able to sit quietly in a room”

Hollywood Isn't Ready For Vince Lynch

For me, my hypnosis I didn’t feel satisfied as a hypnotist till 2-3 years after hypnotizing thousands of people, mainly because I didn’t relax about it. I didn’t just trust my own judgements, I went out and I tried to push hypnosis onto people, I set unrealistic targets and expectations on myself.

In seduction Zen is frequently cited as a kind of relaxation; I recommend being energetic in your experience of the moment. Raw energy comes from the freedom of experiencing gestaltian thought cycles. If you cannot relax because you have concerns about your career, life, etc. I really suggest that you take up meditation, naps, yoga, breathing exercises, practice ‘not thinking’ and take up drinking and doing what you feel whenever you feel like it.

Never push onto the world, let them pull into you. I never hypnotize someone who isn’t ready for it, and therefore my results can be very high as I’m only selecting targets who I expect to succeed with because they are willing to pay attention to me, rather than going out and intentionally pushing hypnosis onto people like a dealer would push drugs, I wait for people to become captivated by me, fascinated by my presence and then have them engage in a process for a time being.

If you’re thinking about all of your limitations, all of the preconceptions, all of your judgements on your own life, about which girls are attractive, which ones aren’t, then you aren’t going to get girls to be non-discriminative towards you. You can have standards of what girl your aiming for, but don’t let your wishes and hopes about tomorrow hold you back today. You’ve got from now till forever to get that girl, let’s have some fun.

Get a lot of sleep. Be aware of what time you’re going to be most active and move your sleep patterns around to match it, catch sleep when and where you can. How can you expect to sleep with someone, if you don’t sleep? Surely that’s a contradiction of terms, you need to find the time within yourself to enjoy the moment with yourself and enjoy moments with others. If she doesn’t have the zen like relaxation and enjoyment of the moment, then she isn’t going to experience REM and be able to feel attraction before the close.

Vince is sharing his wealth of knowledge with his students at one of his seminars

The reason I refer to REM is because of studies into it, one way REM is actually identified to be occurring in a research laboratory is guys will experience spontaneous erections while they are going through the REM sleep cycle, girls experience lubrication. This is why you notice morning glory at various points in the morning, because you’ve woke up during an REM cycle as opposed to a Deep sleep. Therefore one of the aims of a seducer should be to ‘stay with’ a target rather than necessarily to ‘attract them’ because the moment you stay with a target they should experience the necessarily emotions that turn the lust into attraction.

Learn to love your own sleep, your resting time, and you can get to find those who also are willing to enjoy time to rest, and relax, and teach those that don’t know how to relax, how to copy you and become more in tune with their deeper hormonal instincts.

Target selection.

“Wouldn’t it be great if a girl could just be pointed out, and she would instantly fancy you” Is something that I hear myself say, and others say all the time. The truth is, by saying that it makes it sound as if it’s really tricky to do that, as if the secret method to do that hasn’t been uncovered yet.

Newsflash; if a girl isn’t going out with someone, there’s no reason other than her preconceptions about what she wants from a guy, or about how much time she has that could get in the way. If she feels all the bodily feelings, and situational factors that makes her believe that she should get with you, then she has no reason not to. Providing you frame the experience so she only sees all the reasons why it’s going to happen, why it’s on, and doesn’t bring up the frames as to why it’s not going to happen, then she’ll get with you.

I wonder how many girls actually took this bet?

However the truth is, in noisy venues with close to a thousand people or more in a tight dark space (which still clearly due to the vast numbers and context are still the best place to pick up girls) girls don’t have the time to pick from all of the 40 guys who have tried it on with them this evening. So they just cold blank refuse them all. Except for a handful of girls who are on it that particular evening, so until further down in this explanation we are going to explicitly discuss how to target those girls your likely to succeed quickly on.

When I first became a hypnotist I wouldn’t have any process for deciding who I went to hypnotize, therefore I would choose subjects who were clearly not wanting to spend their time listening to me, and were just being forced into engaging in this hypnosis procedure with me, then I would beat myself up mentally when I failed to hypnotize that person. This mind-set does not exist in this pua-hypnosis approach that I’m outlining.

A reason why women and men are often completely unresponsive to sexual attempts is that they don’t have those ideas, that mind-set ready. It often takes an unresponsive girl from 30 minutes, to 5 hours to heat up to sexual ideas.

One reason that certain girls and guys automatically have sexual ideas present is there for various hormonal, cardio-vascular, and nervous system reasons. Which as specified can be overcome through relaxation, focus on the moment, and by staying together. However girls in nightclubs who can be spotted to be immediately on are the ones with High Testosterone levels at that moment in time.

Testosterone levels in women in men fluctuate over the week, (testosterone levels are highly linked to sexual libido, as well as blood dilation; promoted by a healthy diet of fish, vegetables, fruit and lack of meaty, fatty foods, vegetarians have been shown to experience stronger orgasms etc. although slightly chubby girls have stronger sexual libidos as a rule compared with skinnier girls) the simple fact is, they are not ready for you to progress onto sexual ideas without you placing the ideas into their heads through an often lengthy, hypnotic-compliance building procedure that we will later describe.

Who said a little bit of self promotion is bad? Not Vince...

When people aren’t in this sexualized state, they will naturally discriminate against any sexual attempt, as the guy/girl isn’t interested in engaging in that process with you as they are preoccupied with another goal in their mind. Just as sometimes men discriminate about what is their type, whether they really want the girl and bring all their preconceptions about what they want sometimes, and then overtimes they have no discrimination’s, they are just Horney, full of life, and want to stick it in something. Girls are the same, sometimes they care about types, other times they just want to have something put inside of them and feel used.

That’s not to say that you can’t close girls who aren’t in the ‘in the moment’ state and then make her feel attracted, of course you could but you will have to do all of the kino escalation, comfort building steps before a close will feel genuine and sincere, because it comes from the spontaneity of the moment.

There are only a handful of girls in a given club who are actually genuinely dancing, genuinely feeling the moment, who are up on life. Unless you’ve got an opportunity to take the girls who are ‘cold’ the ones who have only come out because their friends are out, the ones who still have oneititus from their last boyfriend, or from the guy that they half know, or they simply don’t feel genuine because of work, career, worries, money. Sure given the opportunity for them to place their attention on you, and you talk to them you can change this, but in a highly competitive environment you simply can’t bank on that until you isolate them.

Know what you’re up against, read the venue, that way you can’t blame yourself when you don’t pick up any girls. Look around and spot the ‘hot energies’ and the ‘cold energies’ both in guys and girls, be aware that a hot energy might quickly meet a guy, or have just been with a guy and for that reason she might decline you because she is locked into his monopoly. (A girl isn’t really ever declining, she’s just doing something else)

To bring this back to hypnotism, I will often once I gain someone’s attention I might take them outside to an isolated area to perform the hypnosis, this way I can be sure that they have committed to the process in the sense that they have left their friends and gone for a walk with me. And I can check visually if they appear to be listening to what I am saying.

Vince and his friend Derren Brown...this isn't a mindtrick either!

In seduction a lot of the game is considered ‘won’ the moment that you do this exact move, the moment you have took the girl to an isolated area and begun escalating it usually quickly leads to a kiss close or more providing you bounce to a location where further intimacy is possible.

This is the end of part 1 of this 2 part article series; here we have discussed what to do up to the point that you have a subject isolated, in the sense that they have explicitly agreed to spend a moment paying attention to what you have to say. Part 2 will describe how to take this initial portion of interest gained, and progress it into further compliance and responsiveness.

Isn’t it odd how time just passes by? It’s been a little over 2 years since Sean Michael Andrews came onto the scene with his first 2 disc DVD project titled Instant and Rapid Inductions.

This was one of the first projects released within a decade that actually took the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions and broke them down into a step by step process in a classroom setting.

If you’ve been a reader of my Hypnosis blog for sometime you know I actually reviewed Sean’s first DVD when it was released. I’ve seen a lot of different trainings and as far as content went it was one of the best I’ve seen on the subject of Instant and Rapid Inductions. I still, to this day recommend it as a great resource for anyone interested in learning hypnosis.

Click Here To Visit The Website For The Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition DVD

Now as much as I liked the content you also know I put everything on the table. While the content of Sean’s first DVD was great the production quality wasn’t that good. The sound wasn’t very clear and went out at times as well as lackluster video editing. Still, for Sean Michael Andrews first time out the game I thought it was a pretty decent undertaking and in many ways that released helped to take Sean from being the Street Hypnotist everyone on Youtube was talking about to being an international known hypnotist and trainer.

Sean Michael Andrews Is Back For Round 2 With His Newest Release

After 2 and half years and 6 DVD projects later Sean Michael Andrews is back with a brand new project called Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition.

Yup, Sean has taken it back to the beginning, back to the DVD that helped launched his career and decided to upgrade his popular Instant and Rapid Induction Training DVD. Now, let me be upfront and hopefully clear something up for all of you reading. When I say an update I really mean more like….Sean Michael Andrew started over from scratch and rebuilding this project from the foundation up. In reality…..this is a completely new training program, not just an upgrade.

I wanted to clear that up because as I’m sure you know when people usually create a second edition or a 2.0 program they usually keep the main program, but just add a few extra clips or scenes or maybe just add a special bonus or two. This is how most product creators handle product upgrades no matter what the industry or profession. Lucky for us this isn’t the case with Sean’s Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition project.

Exactly What Is Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition?

This program contains completely new material which comes from a variety of settings such as classroom, office and street. So you not only get to see Sean perform all his inductions and techniques within a classroom setting, but you also get to see him put them to work on the streets and his office. The first project from Sean was filmed entirely in a classroom so you only got to see Sean at work within that setting, but not the second edition.

If you’re into street hypnosis then your going to love this project as it features tons of examples performed live in the streets. If your into more of the traditional office approach Sean also has tons of examples and he also has tons of classroom examples too. In addition, Sean also provides step by step instructions within the different environments as well. So you can see how his approach changes for the different settings. Another big change from his original program is that the second edition is three DVDs instead of two. So your going to get a lot more content and the training won’t feel as rushed as it done with the first edition.

As I mentioned above Sean decided to keep this version much more open and free. It also includes clips from varies locations around the United States and Canada. Wow! Sean has come a long way since his little classroom project. I guess we can now say Sean is an international man of mystery (okay, bad joke!) I guess being a funny man isn’t in my future lol.

You Feel Like Your Getting A Much More Rounded Training

Before I start breaking down the actually product and getting to the meat of this review I feel I have to mention that this hypnosis training feels much more rounded then the first project done by Sean. When you watch the Second Edition you feel like your getting more of a complete training course.

In the past it felt as if it was just a one day class. This isn’t the case with Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition. Sean has become a much better teacher from those days and there is a lot more content to consume. Sean also spends more time with the step by step approach which helps to make this project feel as if it’s a weekend course. I still recommend you pick up the first DVD if possible, but if you haven’t I know for fact that you’ll be able to perform an Instant or Rapid Induction by the time you complete this program. (Keep in mind you have to actually watch it so no shortcuts okay?)

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Production

As most of my readers know when I do a review I like to be through. I can’t stand when people just say a course is good so buy it. If I’m going to spend my hard earned money on something I like to know it’s worth that money. So I always like to talk about the production and design quality in addition to the content the training covers. I know some of you could care less about the production value, but a lot of people do care about this and I’m one of them.

If you bought the first edition of Sean’s training DVD you know that the production on the first project wasn’t very good. It suffered from bad camera work, bad audio and pretty much no editing. The content was great, but the production quality wasn’t that good. I’m not picking on Sean because if the truth be told the majority of hypnosis products have bad video and bad editing.

There Is No Failure, Only Feedback

What I love about Sean is that he never just settles. He is always looking to improve and make every new project better. If you’ve been following his other projects such Amazing Inductions, Inducing The Trance, Deepening The Trance and others you know that the production has got better and better. I remember talking with Sean a few months ago and he told me something I’ve been telling people for years. If your not good at something then find someone who is and then do only the stuff your great at. This is great advice and Sean put his advice to work for him when he connected with and hired Dale Gardner.

I won’t go into Dale’s background, but the guy is a genius when it comes to production, editing and directing. He has done stuff for VH1, MTV and other credible television and movie projects. The moment he started working with Sean you saw an immediate improvement in quality, sound and design. They have got better with each project, but how is the second edition?

Instant and Rapid Inductions Second Edition may be Dale’s best work yet. The DVDs have a professional menu which just blows you away when you insert it into your DVD player. I swear it almost looks like something you would see with 3d glasses. Once you click play an amazing intro begins that far surpasses anything done on previous projects. Dale makes Sean look like a rock star in this brand new intro.

If you click the video below you can check out the intro for yourself and see the type of work Dale does for Sean.

Click Here To Visit The Website For The Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition DVD

Overall the video quality is amazing and even the clips when Sean is doing street hypnosis look crystal clear. The sound is great and you can make out everything Sean is saying even when he’s in the middle of a busy crowd or class. In my opinion this is some of his best work yet. Even the cover art is a improvement for Sean as it really illustrates what the DVDs are all about, Instant and Rapid Inductions. If your someone who enjoys good content and good production value you won’t be let down. Now that I got all of that out of the way let’s move on and see what’s awaiting for you in disc 1….

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 1:

As with previous projects by Sean each disc covers a number of different subjects. All of them which are needed to master instant and rapid inductions. Sean starts this disc by giving a nice overview of what instant and rapid inductions are, why you need to know them, how to use them and why 90 percent of hypnotists are scared to use them.

Sean makes it very clear from the beginning of this disc that his goal isn’t to have you become a carbon copy of him, but to be able to perform these inductions so well that you’ll able to create your own. Sean also goes into detail why Progressive Muscle Relaxation Inductions are just not enough.

Here’s a breakdown of the different subjects Sean Teaches in the first DVD.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that I can’t cover every single thing on the three DVDs. There will be material covered on the DVDs not listed in this review.

The Pre-Talk:

In this section Sean goes into detail about the pre-talk and the important of it when doing hypnosis in general and when doing instant and rapid inductions. Sean actually says something in this disc that caught me off guard and which I don’t agree completely with, but I can see why he does it. Sean doesn’t use the pre-talk to educate the person about hypnosis, but to get them to let you hypnotize them. An interesting statement that could be debated, but Sean does make some interesting points.

In addition, Sean shows you a number of different examples of him performing the pre-talk in different settings and even gives you his exact pre-talk word for word. Sean also covers topics such as working with men and women and how to adjust your approach to fit each one of the sexes as well as the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your clients. (I’m not talking about the Bill of Rights either.)

Suggestibility Tests:

After Sean talks about the pre-talk he goes right into talking about different suggestibility test and how they are to be used properly. As Sean says it’s not a test to determine suggestibility, but how well they use their imagination. (Nice language which I may have to steal.) Once again you get tons of examples of Sean in different settings doing a number of different test such as the Arms rising and failing, the spiegel eye roll test, hand clasp, magnetic fingers and more.

Hand Drop Induction:

This is the induction you’ve seen Sean perform on countless Youtube videos as well as other successful Hypnotists such as Tom Nicoli and Cal Banyan. Sean teaches you how to do it step by step and provides you all the tips you need to succeed. This section is also where you’ll learn why they work and how to create an instant induction using the flight or fight system and how to spot your window of opportunity.

If you never knew how to do this induction you’ll know exactly how. You’ll learn where to place your hands, special wording, troubleshooting and safety tips to make sure no one is ever hurt. The one thing I enjoyed the most about this part is that Sean talks about something that I teach which is outcome. Yeah it’s cool that you can do these inductions, but you need to know your outcome before you even begin. Intent and Outcome are so important and Sean explains why.

Ambiguous Touch (Milton Erickson’s Handshake Induction):

If your a fan of Milton Erickson then you’ll love this induction. This is the famous handshake induction used by Milton Erickson which made people scared to shake his hand. Sean demonstrates it step by step with a number of different up close angles. You’ll discover where to place your fingers and what to do when it goes wrong, if it does. Sean actually includes a video clip of a client he couldn’t get the Ambiguous touch to work. See….if big time Hypnotists like Sean mess up

Distraction Filter:

The distraction Filter isn’t an actually induction. It’s a technique to use when working with a client so you can work with that client without them being disturbed by outside influences. Now you may think you know this technique as I taught something similar on my blog, but this goes much further then just noise. Sean uses this for sensation, sound, feelings and more.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 2:

Arm Pull Induction:

This is the other instant induction you’ve seen Sean perform time after time on Youtube videos. As with all the other inductions taught on this DVD you’ll learn step by step how to do it. You’ll see tons and tons of examples of it being performed with different angles. You’ll see every little thing Sean is doing so don’t worry about pausing the DVD.

If you can’t do this induction after Sean breaks it down you don’t need to be hypnotizing anyone. Sorry, but I call it like I see it.

Head Roll Deepener:

You’ll finally look why Sean is always rotating the head of people when he does an induction. The purpose, why it’s done, how it should be done and a number of other deepening techniques are included. This is a pretty in-depth section and Sean covers the finer points as well such as when you should do them, how long, exactly at what point and the ones he personally uses.

Elman Rapid Induction:

Yes, the famous Dave Elman Induction (my favorite). Sean and I are in completely agreement as he also says this is the most powerful rapid induction ever created. You’ll learn why this induction is so powerful and get to see Sean perform in about 4 minutes from start to finish without ever rushing it.

You’ll learn how to study it and the properly way to perform it. Btw, if you’ve been reading it from start to finish your not doing it right. This induction should really be taught in phases and Sean does exactly that. He demo’s each section over and over again going over every little detail. You may, at times get annoyed at how much detail Sean does goes into, but take it for what it’s worth…gold. Its better to go over every detail and get it right then to skip a detail and get it wrong.

You’ll also learn how to troubleshoot the part of the Elman induction that gives most people the biggest amount of trouble…losing the numbers. You’ll learn how to get them to lose the numbers 99 percent of the time and how to transform this induction into an instant induction when needed. You’ll also learn the points of failure so you know how to recognize them and avoid them. In reality this could be an entire course on the Elman induction, but it’s included within this disc. In addition, Sean also goes over information such as hypnotic Amnesia, the use of fractionization and more.

Finger Snap Induction:

This is one of my favorite inductions because it’s so simple and looks so cool that most people would swear its fake. You’ll learn how to do it and once again tons of examples are given within office, class and street settings. I can’t say this enough. Tons and tons of examples are throughout all the DVDs.

Hand Shake Interrupt:

This is one of my favorites as well and if your a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him use this induction on TV many times. This isn’t the Erickson handshake, but the one made famous by Richard Bandler. You’ll learn how it works, step by step. You’ll see Sean do this step by step and how it even works when the person knows to expect it.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Disc 3:

In the final DVD Sean teaches you the stuff you need to know to keep your clients safe as well as information you just need to know if your going to be hypnotizing people in general.

This is a very important to section to watch and please don’t skip it. You’ll learn how to do these inductions safely without bringing harm to your client or yourself. You’ll learn why you should never do falling backward inductions and also get Sean’s personal checklist for safety.

You’ll learn about Unrestricted catalepsy, inappropriate suggestions, false memories and how to remove suggestions properly. You’ll learn what to do when someone doesn’t emerge from hypnosis and how to tell the difference between them being in the Coma State and them just enjoying the feeling of being hypnotized.

In addition, Sean will also go over Negative and Positive Hallucinations, Deepening Techniques, the different signs of Trance and a number of different challenge test. As a bonus you’ll also get to see Sean perform tons of different hypnotic phenomena in the three different settings as well.

Instant & Rapid Inductions Second Edition Review Conclusion

I know this has been a long review, but as you know I like to make sure you get all the details and facts. Now the big question is do you need this training if you own the first one and the answer is yes. Sean gave you a lot of great stuff on the first one and even some stuff on it that he doesn’t cover on the second one, but the new project is more complete. You can tell Sean has improved his teaching style. You get a lot more information in this round and Sean answers many of the questions left unanswered in the first volume in this new one.

You get multiple camera angles, in depth details and tons and tons and tons of examples. Yes, there is no hiding it I am a fan of Sean’s training. I’ve followed him for a really long time and I must admit I wouldn’t be the Hypnotist I am today without Sean’s help. This 3 DVD set is straight to the point and follows through on the promise Sean makes at the beginning. After watching these three DVDs you should have no problem creating and preforming your own instant and rapid inductions. So if you want a tool for your hypnotic toolbox that can stay with you forever then this is a great investment.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to enter the giveaway to win 1 of 3 basic memberships to Reg Blackwood’s newest project, Streetnosis. The contest is currently closed and Reg and I have finished picking the winners for the contest. If your one of the lucky winners you’ll be notified by e-mail later tonight with more instructions.

Click Here To See What The Streetnosis Contest Is All About

I also wanted to inform everyone of a little surprise Reg has for one of the winners of this contest. I didn’t even know about this until an hour ago when Reg and I were choosing the winners. Reg has decided to choose 4 winners instead of 3 and one lucky winner will receive a FULL membership to Streetnosis.

That’s what I call a great Christmas gift! Below are the winners of the Streetnosis contest. Once again, if you’ve won I’ll be contacting you by e-mail soon.

NOTE: The winners of the secondary contest which was only for people who purchased the course through one of the links on my contest page will be contacted by e-mail as well and won’t be listed here. I’ll be e-mailing you soon to get your mailing addresses.

Here Are The Four Winners of The Whatsonmybrain.com Streetnosis Giveaway.

1. Becks – You win a FULL Membership to Streetnosis (Congratz…you were chosen personally by Reg Blackwood)

2. JohnL – You win a basic membership to Streetnosis (Merry Christmas)

3. Steven – You win a basic membership to Streetnosis (Looking forward to see some videos from you after you take Streetnosis)

4. Andrew – You win a basic membership to Streetnosis ( last but not least. Enjoy)

Once again, I want to give a special thank you to everyone who entered the contest. I also want to thank my good friend and mentor Reg Blackwood for allowing us to have this contest. Reg put a lot of work into Streetnosis and it is seriously one hell of a training program. Unique in that it can continue to grow because of the platform Reg is using to release this project. A lot of people think Street Hypnosis is for kids, but you’re dead wrong if you thing that about this wonderful art form. There is no better way to horn your skills then to work with random people.

Don’t Dismiss Street Hypnosis So Easy

The media already has crazy ideas of what Hypnosis is, but Street Hypnosis allows us to go to the street and show people what Hypnosis is all about. We are taking action and going to the public instead of them coming to us. We are bringing positive changes to people who may have never come to see a Hypnotist and that is truly a special thing.

Street Hypnosis can help us build our confidence, horn our skills and make us a lot of money while providing people a good time and truly bring changes. Streetnosis by Reg Blackwood is just the start and I promise you’ll be a different Hypnotist after watching and going through his training.

I got to go, but I recommend you sign up for my newsletter which is at the top and bottom of this post because I’ll be another contest like this before Christmas is up. I also want you to check out Reg Blackwood’s website/blog as he has some really great content which I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

If you didn’t win it’s okay as I’ll do more giveaways and contest in the future, but don’t let winning keep you from checking out Reg’s Streetnosis project.

To Your Success,

Josh & Reg

This contest has now officially ended. I will be announcing the winners in the next day or so. If you are the winners I’ll notify you by e-mail soon. Thank you to everyone who took part in my Streetnosis giveaway.

Over the last couple of weeks on my newsletter and blog I’ve been dropping hints about the newest project from one of my friends and mentors, Reg Blackwood. Well, over almost 6 months of waiting and planning Reg has finally released Streetnosis.

If you’re a regular reader of this hypnosis blog then you know Reg is a fan favorite and frequent guest writer here. Reg is an amazing Hypnotist and trainer with over 10 years of hand on experience in the fields of Street, Clinical and Stage Hypnosis. His experience as a Street Hypnotist gives Reg a unique insight into Hypnosis and how to apply it within almost any situation instantly. No hour long pre-talks or spending 30 minutes getting to know his volunteer. We’re talking about deep trance within seconds!

Beside being a walking library of hypnosis information Reg is also just a nice guy. When no one knew who I was and no one wanted to help me with the learning process when I started out Reg reached out and helped me out when no one else would. Reg’s background as a comedian combined with his hands on experience makes him a wonderful instructor who can keep you entertained as well as teach you some serious stuff. If you’ve seen Reg’s last project called Hypnosis Happens then you know I’m telling the truth. You can read my review of Hypnosis Happens by clicking the link below:

Hypnosis Happens Review

Here is a small video that gives you a little bit more information about Streetnosis:

Streetnosis is a unique project as it’s a complete training course on Street Hypnosis which is something you don’t see offered much on the internet which is odd since Street Hypnosis is so popular nowadays. In addition, Reg offers something completely unique to this project which I’ve never seen done before. He actually teaches you Hypnosis backwards.

Yes, backwards.

It’s a unique way of teaching created by Reg which allows you to learn hypnosis in a much more complete way. You’ll have a much deeper understanding of Hypnosis when done. As Reg claims you’ll now know Hypnosis backward and forward. Funny!

I Thought It Was Time For A Change

I was given early access to a full membership of Streetnosis by Reg so I could check it out and to be honest I’ve been a bit of overwhelmed by the scope and detail of this new project. Reg has really outdone himself and published Streetnosis on a new platform which gives the Reg the ability to add new information and provide more value to his students. Obviously I could go on and on about Reg and his credibility, but his reputation in this business speaks for it’s self. I am planning to do a complete review of Streetnosis in the near future so stay tuned for that as well.

I know this may seem a little odd to some of you as I usually do a review when someone I trust launches a new product, but I’ve decided to do something a little different this time. I hope you enjoy it and if I get good feedback I’ll do more of these type of post in the future. It’s time for me to move on and in doing so let me tell you how you can win 1 of 3 free Basic Access Memberships For Reg Blackwood’s Streetnosis.

In addition, I know a lot of you don’t care about giveaways and would rather just purchase Streetnosis outright which means you have no need to win a free basis access membership since you’ve already bought it. Well, I have something special for those of you who purchase Streetnosis too. So keep reading below to get all the details.

A few days ago my good friend and fellow Hypnotist, Nathan Thomas created a FREE Mini Report called:

Win Before You Begin – Frame Control In Street Hypnosis.

In the beginning this free report was only going to be sent out to his own list. You know how selfish Nathan can be some times

Discover How To Increase Your Success Rate 10 Fold With The Techniques In This Report!

So when I discovered he had the nerve to release a free report and not tell me or give me first crack at it so I could send it to my list too I became a little upset. I mean, wouldn’t you be upset if someone you thought was your friend didn’t give you access to a cool free report?

Well, you know how I tend to get so I e-mailed Nathan and we had a long “talk” about the situation. (Talk really means we came to blows)

In the end a few punches were thrown, but my quick jab won the battle. Those Kiwi’s sure put up a fight and stick together as Reg Blackwood also got involved too (keep reading to learn more about THAT situation)

Nathan agreed to let me get access to the report and as usual the members of my mailing list got access first. For those of you who haven’t joined it yet please do as you always get access to the best stuff first. My mailing list is like my VIP section in many ways.

Well, the respond to the report was really great. I got a lot of great feedback from it so I decided that after a few days of my list having access first that I would put it up on the blog so everyone can have access now.

So if you want access to the free report “Win Before You Begin – Frame Control In Street Hypnosis” all you have to do is click the link above or below. You don’t have to optin or anything. Just download, read and apply what you learn.

Click Here To Download The Free Report, Win Before You Begin – Frame Control In Street Hypnosis

I hope you enjoy the free report and make sure you put the info into action.

I Must Love Fights!

As you read above I almost got into a “little” fight with Reg Blackwood as well. I know it’s not nice, but when it comes to providing my readers with cool stuff I like to go the distance.

Well, Reg Blackwood also created a special report and ONLY gave Nathan access to it. It’s a Kiwi thing I guess and since I’m not from New Zealand I’m being left out of the loop. I thought Reg and I were cool so I e-mailed him and next thing you know we’re on Facebook going at it.!!! See for yourself. Start with the post at the bottom and work your way up to the top.

Hypnosis Drama

As you can see from the DRAMA above Reg finally agreed to give me access to his special report and I will be providing it here on the blog…eventually.

Why not now? Well, I must give members of my mailing list access first and then once they have had it for a few days I’ll make sure I post it here so everyone can get a crack at it!

Warning: For those of you who can’t read in between the lines obviously I’m friends with Nathan and Reg and were having some fun and joking around….or are we????

Enjoy Nathan’s free report

Over the last few months I’ve been receiving a good amount of e-mails asking me to do more reviews. A lot of my readers have told me that the reviews have really helped them filter out the good from the bad and saved them a lot of money and time by only dealing with training material that will make them better Hypnotists.

So since you wanted more reviews I’m going to give you more reviews and I’m going to start it off with a review of Jeffrey Stephens Hypnosis Video Workshop.

Click Here To Visit Jeffrey Stephens Official Website

Let’s Get Down To The Basics

I first heard about Jeffrey Stephens through Nathan Thomas one day while him and I were on Skype masterminding our plans to take over the world. Yep, you guessed it. I watched WAY too much Pinky and the Brain growing up.

During our talk Nathan was telling me about his friend who was getting really amazing results and doing some really awesome things with hypnosis. The one thing that intrigued me the most was his claim that he could get anyone to become a non smoker within 20 min. For anyone out there who actually see’s clients you know this is a very BOLD claim. A claim so BIG and BOLD that it got the attention of Igor.

The story goes that Nathan talked to Igor about Jeffrey Stephens and then the next thing you know Jeffrey Stephens was on a plane on his way to Las Vegas to attend one of Igor’s rare live training events which was paid for by Igor. That is one hell of a first impression in my opinion.

I wonder where my first class ticket to Vegas is?

Well a few months ago Jeffrey released his first hypnosis training project which was a video recording of a hypnosis workshop he put on for a number of students. Due to being busy working on my launch of TRANCED OUT at the time I didn’t get to purchase it when it was released, but a friend of mine did and let me watch it for review purposes.

So let’s get right into the review of Jeffrey Stephens Weekend Hypnosis Workshop…

Jeffrey Stephens Weekend Hypnosis Workshop Review

This project is basically a collection of online videos which were recorded from a live event that Jeffrey put on. The video was broken up into 8 different videos with each one covering a number of different topics and subjects. Beside the videos Jeffrey also included a cool 50 page manual filled with tons of techniques and step by step instructions to help you get the most out of the training videos. Beside the videos and the manual you also get a masterclass Jeffrey did with Igor and a few other cool bonuses which you can learn about on his sales page.

BTW, This hypnosis training is completely digital just so you know. This means you get instant online access to it once you purchase it. This isn’t a physical product that is shipped to you. I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that little detail.

The Production

Now, for those of you who are into production value and enjoy movie level editing then you may be a little let down. The videos are your standard online videos and don’t have any special Hollywood qualities or effects. For the most part this is a pretty cut and dry hypnosis training course. So while the production of the videos won’t win Jeffrey any awards the content he provides is solid and to my surprise, quite unique.

The Content

The first thing you will notice is that he has a very commanding presence. There is NO doubt in my mind that Jeffrey believes himself to be the BEST hypnotist in the world. I have said this before and I’ll say it again. If you don’t have confidence you don’t have ANYTHING!

Jeffrey isn’t an academic teacher by any means, but his love and passion for this profession come through every word he speaks. He has a very laid back style and doesn’t believe in censoring himself one bit. I’m not talking about cussing or anything. I just mean he speaks his mind when he wants and doesn’t hold back just because it’s the socially accepted thing to do. He loves hypnosis, uses it all the time, attempts fun and new things with it and isn’t afraid to tell you so.

Jeffrey covers a massive amount of techniques, topics and subjects, but begins the class with a nice strong hypnotic foundation by talking about Context, Intent, Compliance and Congruity. As Jeffrey speaks on these subjects you can tell that they play a major role in the work he does and that they are the support beams of his hypnotic belief system. You’ll hear him talk about these principals throughout the entire training and with good reason.

The Intent and Context

The intent you have is your outcome, your goal. Another way to say this would be your surety of outcome or the absence of doubt. One example would be knowing 100 percent without a doubt that you are going to hypnotize this person, allow them to have a good time and exit the trance feeling great. It’s critical to know your intent before you even begin. This will serve as your subconscious guide in many ways. The context is basically anything that gets the subject mentally examining what they know about hypnosis.

These two principals set the stage in so many words and when understood properly will give you a strong hypnotic foundation. Jeffrey goes over these two principals more times then I would like, but I guess he wanted to make sure his audience/students understood how important they are for long term success.

Compliance: Are They Following Your Instructions?

Jeffrey then begins to cover the concept of compliance which is something I pay a lot of attention too when I work with people. Compliance is basically having the subject follow your instructions. This can be done in a number of different ways which he talks about on the videos. Compliance makes sure your subject is following your instructions, listening to you and also helps to build rapport. I never move on with hypnotizing anyone unless compliance is there first. From compliance Jeffrey touches on the subject of CONGRUITY.

Congruity: Do Your Words Reflect Your Actions?

A simple way to define CONGRUITY is basically when your physiology matches your spoken words. For instance, if you are speaking about confidence, but don’t stand up straight or look at your audience your may come off as not being congruence because your body doesn’t match what your saying. It’s important for your words and actions to speak the same language. Many people believe that are spoken words only make up about 7 percent of our total communication. This is a very important skill for new hypnotist to learn.

Beside those topics Jeffrey also covers subjects ranging from Instant Inductions, Super Suggestions, Complex Deepeners, Hypnotic Phenomena, Change Work, How to deal with smokers, Weight Loss, Safety and a number of other techniques which can be used for almost any situation when working with a client/subject.

Each of the different topics are covered in detail and backed up with tons of personal examples as well as detailed demonstrations of each technique on members of his audience.

Here’s a clip of Jeffrey producing the Hand Stick phenomena quickly without ANY formal induction. Remember as I’ve said before. The induction process is just a ritual…

Inside The Box or Outside The Box

Now, as I mentioned Jeffrey is quite confident in his approach and very blunt. Jeffrey let’s it be known that he does not believe in just using hypnosis in an office or a stage or on the street. Jeffrey believes that hypnosis should be used everywhere and that one of the WORST things you can do is waste a TRANCE state. I say trance state because Jeffrey does not believe Hypnosis is trance and vice versa. Jeffrey also doesn’t believe in the idea of self hypnosis. It’s outside of the box thinking like this that I enjoy. I really believe that you need to be exposed to different trains of thoughts if you want to become great at hypnosis.

Jeffrey believes that hypnosis should be fun and that your main purpose The Hypnotist is to make sure people are happy and have a good time after working with you. Overall his approach is very simple which is a nice change of pace from those out there who want to make something which is so simple so confusion and complicated.

Many of the techniques including in the course such as the “Golden Box” and the “Magic Mirror” can work with almost any type of problem your client may have. They are quick, effective and easy to remember.

My Pet Peeves With This Training

As you can tell from the review I have enjoyed this hypnosis training. I’ve taken more then one golden nugget from this course which is rare nowadays. Still, I wouldn’t feel right calling this a review unless I also listed a few of my pet peeves with this project. Please keep in mind that everyone has different taste and opinions on hypnosis trainings and the statements I’m about to make are just my own personal opinions.

I had to put that in writing so die hard Jeffrey Stephens fans don’t throw rocks at me while I walk the streets.

My biggest problem with this product is the amount of talking Jeffrey does on this course. I know, you’re thinking what the hell are you talking about Josh? Obviously Jeffrey does a lot of talking on the program as he is teaching it, but there are parts on the program where Jeffrey just seems to go off topic and takes forever to move on to the next section.

Most of these moments start off with good intentions, but eventually they just seem to become long stories which lead nowhere in my opinion. There are only a few moments like this during the entire training, but those few moments just seemed to go on forever for me. Most of these moments arrive from answering questions from students in the class and the beginning of the answer usually provides some good insight.

Still, there were times where it felt as if he answered the question pretty damn good and he should have moved on to the next section. Another example would be when someone goes off on a rant and just keeps going instead of eventually moving on.

I know some people don’t mind that type of stuff, but this was just one pet peeve for me. Don’t misunderstand me either because the majority of this program is pure content, but I had to mention it as it was just something that bothered me.

The other problem which may turn some people off is how candid Jeff is with the audience. Jeffrey loves using hypnosis and he makes no excuses for it. Some of his experiences and stories he shares may offend certain Hypnotists because Jeffery admits to using hypnosis in some very “interesting ways”. Now don’t get me wrong as he does practice safety, but just a warning for those of you who are very serious about this professional. If you are going to watch this training you NEED to keep an open mind and have a sense of humor as Jeffrey does talk about some things that are outside the box.

The Conclusion Of This Review

Overall, this is a very complete training if you’re looking to learn how to hypnotize people or just looking to add a new technique or two to your hypnotic toolbox. The videos along with the manual walks you through each step of Jeffrey’s approach. A good way to look at how this training program is set up is to think of it as a jig saw puzzle. Each piece of the puzzle is important to seeing the BIG picture. Once you take those pieces and start to put the puzzle together the picture begins to make sense and by the end you have the COMPLETE picture.

No knowledge or prior experience is needed for this training even though some prior hypnosis training won’t hurt. Jeffrey’s approach is very simple so if your looking for complex systems, deeper meanings and all that stuff then this course isn’t for you. Jeffrey has a confident style which will appeal to some and not others, but the fact remains the guy knows his stuff and everyone could take a page out of his book as far as his confidence level goes. If you are a Street Hypnotist, Stage Hypnotist or Clinical Hypnotist you’ll get something out of this course in my opinion.

Overall, I rank this training 8 out of 10. If you’re interesting in learning more about Jeffrey Stephens and his Weekend Hypnosis Workshop Training Course then click the link below. That page will also feature a couple of clips from his hypnosis training course as well.

Click Here To Learn More About Jeffrey Stephens Weekend Hypnosis Video Workshop

P.S. I didn’t really touch on the manual that Jeffrey includes with this video training course, but it’s a awesome resource. I would say about 96% of the material Jeffrey covers in the course is laid out in the manual. You’ll get step by step instructions for all the techniques he mentions in the video as well as his entire hypnotic process laid out.

So if you decide to get the course make sure you review the manual a couple of times to make sure you get the most out of it.

I’m happy to announce that the long awaited squeal to Speed Trance: Instant Hypnotic Inductions has finally arrived. I have been waiting for this project for a while as I’m a fan of Street Hypnosis.

For those of you not involved in it you are losing a lot of money as Street Hypnosis is a great way to get clients and lots of fun. For those of you looking to spread the truth about hypnosis their is nothing better than educating people on the street, hypnotizing them, with permission of course and giving them feel good suggestions.

Street Trance: How to Do Impromptu Hypnosis is a DVD Project by Richard Nongard and John Cerbone, both who carry a lot of weight in this field. They are most known for their last best seller Speed Trance, which changed the way I use Instant and Rapid Inductions. For those who are not interested in street hypnosis you should still get this DVD because the stuff you learn in can be directly applied to your hypnosis practice or used when giving demo’s and workshops on hypnosis.

Remember, we as hypnotists have to think of ourselves as marketers. Think outside the box and you’ll find your pockets filling with cash pretty quickly. Some of the things you will learn in this DVD from Richard and John is….

Learn how to demonstrate hypnosis and hypnotic phenomena – instantly – anytime, anywhere, with anyone with Richard Nongard and John Cerbone!

Famed New Zealand Street Hypnotist Reg Blackwood decided to share some of his unique insights into the world of Street Hypnosis.

Street Hypnosis Is Cool

I recently found myself defending the art of Street Hypnosis on another forum after it was described unfairly as “public masturbation” so I thought I’d edit my post and reproduce it here:

Street Hypnosis is mainly a marketing thing for me. Not necessarily for a specific show (although I will be doing it around the venue of my stage show over the next couple of weekends) but more to showcase to people that I do something a wee bit different. To my knowledge, I am one of only two people in my country who do anything like this, so awareness is low.

Many people out there still believe that hypnosis is something that only happens either in a recliner over a long drawn-out relaxotherapy session or on a stage where they believe the hypnotist has somehow cajoled the extroverts into performing. I was delighted to hear recently from a local New Zealand Stage Hypnotist that when he asked the question of an audience “Has anyone been hypnotized before?” One young woman responded “Yes! By Reg, the street guy.”

So far my Youtube videos have earned me course attendees, clients and gigs, attracted the attention of a TV production company and hopefully spread the word that hypnosis can be quick, efficient and fun. But aside from marketing, there really is money to be made out of “Street Hypnosis” itself: There seems to be a lot of demand for “mix and mingle” roving type work at large corporate events, and this is something I’m beginning to move in to. I see it as moving with the times, but I’m also traveling backwards in time too: I’m developing a Victorian Mesmerist character for themed events and a historical heritage park here in NZ. It’ll be kind of like a medicine show type of thing, using a combination of my character acting skills and real hypnosis. (A tribute to my heroes, the likes of Mesmer, Esdaile and Coue.)

Street Hypnosis Allows Me To Become A Better Hypnotist

Street Hypnosis has also given me a great opportunity to practice “new bits” and if I have any reservations about other people doing it, it would only be from a safety perspective. I know how to deal with abreactions and the like (of which I’ve thankfully only had one) and as a six foot four English bloke from the West Midlands, I can “look after myself” and my equipment if I need to!

Truthfully, this safety aspect of the street work is what’s delaying the publication of my book on the subject. The thought of being tarred with the same brush as some incompetent beginner clutching my book in their hand is a real concern for me. If there were only a way to make sure it only fell into the right hands. Price point is probably a start. Sadly, in my experience, wealth, certification or all manner of training aren’t necessarily guarantees of competence either! If that upsets anyone, then I’m sorry. It’s just my uncensored/unedited opinion.

Oh, and contrary to popular belief, I don’t film every bit of impromptu hypnosis I do, so the usual accusations of “performing for the camera” can be ruled out. Finally, does the fact that I thoroughly enjoy all of this street hypnosis, some for no “direct” financial reward, make it public masturbation? I really hope not. Maybe I’ll have to take a long hard look at myself and my motivation!

Or maybe the fact that the subjects seem to enjoy it at least as much as I do makes it public mutual masturbation?? Which would make it OK, right?! LOL

He has also developed and leads a one day seminar in Induction Modification Theory and Instant and Rapid Inductions for those wishing to learn the art of Quicknosis.

You may have heard of Instant and Rapid Inductions, but have you heard of Speed Trance? Learn how to master instant inductions!

Speed Trance Review

As many of my readers know I’m very outspoken about my beliefs when it comes to the use of Instant and Rapid Inductions.

I personally believe that every hypnotist should know more than just a Progressive Relaxation. I also believe that you need to know other inductions as well, but as you begin to study and learn them you’ll start to see how powerful these types of inductions can be for you and your practice.

It doesn’t matter if you are a stage hypnotist, street hypnotist or a clinical hypnotist. These inductions can aid you in almost any situation.

The problem with your typically Progressive Relaxation Induction is that it can take anywhere from 35 min to 45 min depending on the ones you use. Another problem with them is that at the end of the whole thing you don’t even know if they are in hypnosis or where exactly they are. Now, don’t misunderstand me as I believe and know relaxation serves a vital purpose in the overall health of a person, but these people are paying you to hypnotize them and help them out with whatever situation they have in their everyday life. In some instances, I might use a Progressive Relaxation Induction if the client is in some discomfort or if they just want to do a relaxation session. Still, in my opinion this model of hypnosis is outdated to a degree.

What is so great about Instant and Rapid Inductions?

So what is so great about Hypnosis Inductions? Well one thing is they can be used in a wide range of settings including Street Hypnosis, Clinical and Stage. Instant and Rapid Inductions are great when you need to get straight to work as they don’t take long and they are perfect when working with very analytical clients. The reason why is because they happen so fast the client doesn’t have time to analyze what is happening. This is great because now the paying client is actually getting their money worth and you have more time to work with them if needed. Also, most of the time they also get a person into a deep state of hypnosis bypassing the need to start at a light state and work your way down or up. Some Rapid Inductions even have testing built right in to make sure you know where they are at during the session.

So If I had to put a definition on these two types of inductions than a Rapid Induction would be any induction that is 4 min or less and a Instant would be a induction that is 10 seconds or less. So as you can see they are much faster than the standard 35 or 45 min progressive relaxation induction. Now this leads me into the reason I started this post, which is, something called Speed Trance.

What is Speed Trance?

So what exactly is Speed Trance? Well if you thought Instant Inductions were fast than you haven’t seen anything yet. Speed Trance Inductions seem to take a total of 5 seconds or less in the majority of cases and maybe even faster than that in my opinion.

They are a unique style of very rapid instant inductions. John Cerbone and Richard Nongard who are both excellent Hypnotists developed the concept of Speed Trance. I have always consider myself to be pretty damn good with Instant and Rapid Inductions and quite fast at them, but I was quite surprised at how fast these inductions were compared to some of the ones I was using. Beside Speed Trance Inductions being very fast they also look very cool, which is a plus if you are doing stage or street hypnosis.

What Makes Speed Trance Unique?

I have bought many Instant and Rapid Inductions DVDs and most of them are usually just a showcase of Inductions. They really don’t explain anything beyond what they look like. Most products barely even touch on the concepts and theories of why they work and how they work. The Speed Trance 2 DVD set is more than just a showcase of creative looking inductions. It actually serves as a How to guide on how to perform these unique inductions and gives you even more value as it goes into troubleshooting, deepening, safety, rapport building and more. Some of the concepts and techniques taught on the 2 Disc set will actually improve your other instant and rapid inductions as the techniques behind Speed Trance can be applied to other ones as well.

Can’t I just watch Youtube to Learn Speed Trance?

It’s funny though because people e-mail me once in a while and ask why I should buy the DVD when the inductions are right on Youtube. I honestly feel sad for people who ask me this for a couple of reasons. One reason is just because you can imitate an induction doesn’t mean you can ‘do’ the induction. Yes, it is true that some people can mimic an induction and actually get it work. Now the other part to this is that I promise you that if you just do this method you will fail most of the time. Why? Because you don’t understand how they work, you don’t understand how to set them up and the principals behind them.

You won’t be able to adapt it or trouble shoot it if necessary. This is why watching the actual DVD set is important as it gives you all the missing pieces of the puzzle. You will know exactly how these inductions work, the concepts behind them and be able to adapt them or use them in all types of different context. This is why it’s important to know the truth behind them and not just mimic some quick youtube clip.

It’s not very professional to walk up to someone, claim you can hypnotize him or her, but if they ask you how it works you couldn’t tell them. So now that I have cleared that out of the way lets get to Speed Trance: Instant Hypnotic Inductions.

What You Will Learn in Speed Trance

John and Richard start off with a pretty fun and general discussion about Speed Trance and the theory behind Instant Inductions. This is very important as it lays the foundation for you to understand why they work and how they work. As for some reason people tend to think these inductions are fake or some form of magic, which I can promise you they are not. I really enjoy watching these two work together as they have a really great chemistry. Listening to John speak is worth the price of the DVDs as he is from New York and quite a fast talker which makes the convo between the deep voiced Nongard and the fast talking Cerbone quite funny.

A great feature on the DVD set is that Richard and John just don’t talk about Speed Trance, but they actually demo it live with a group of people at a local bar. This is really great to see because it takes classroom information and actually shows you it applied in a real world setting. No pre-conditioned people or stooges, just people who we’re at a bar looking for fun. John even demonstrates a one-man hypnosis show, which was pretty funny. The humor plays a big part of this DVD set as John has an ‘interesting’ style of hypnosis and might have split personalities. (I’m just joking John) The humor actually serves a purpose, which Richard and John cover later in the DVDs. Either way it keeps things entertaining rather than falling asleep while trying to watch the program.

As I mentioned earlier they give tons of real life examples, stories, tips, and John even hypnotizes Richard, which is pretty fun to see. Now, I know some of you are wondering if these are the standard Shock based Inductions or surprised inductions? They are not those types of inductions, but instead combine the use of many other hypnosis techniques such as:

Sensory Overload

Confusion

Eye Fixation & more

This DVD does assume you have some type of previous knowledge about hypnosis or inductions, as this video does not teach you how to hypnotize someone. Remember an induction isn’t hypnosis; it’s just an induction. The Inductions start you on the path of the hypnosis, but these DVDs do not teach you about suggestions and etc.

Personally I think even if you have never learned how to do an induction you could learn it from this video. I have a great deal of knowledge on this subject and even I found a couple of good points I didn’t consider before and that made it worth the price. I think anyone who has never been introduced to these types of fast inductions will be amazed at what’s possible. I have also used every single one of the Speed Trance Inductions within my Hypnosis Practice and they all work great. Very simple, creative and easy once you understand how they work.

Flaws with Speed Trance

While Speed Trance is a really great DVD it has a flaw which is the editing in some places. There are parts that make you feel as if the editing may have been rushed. This really doesn’t affect the overall lessons learned from the DVD. So unless editing is the only thing you care about than I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Still, I feel as if it was my duty to let you know.

My Final Thoughts on Speed Trance: Instant Hypnotic Inductions

So by now, I hope I have given you a little insight into the 2 DVD setSpeed Trance: Instant Hypnotic Inductions. I personally recommend this product and no its not just because I have a affiliate link set up with them. I could set up links to a hundred different programs that provide much better rate of returns, but as you know I believe in credibility and value. I spent years of my life training in hypnosis and I spent lots of money on good products and bad ones. I can only imagine where I would have been if I only spent money on good products.

As someone who is always interested in learning new skills I’m always look for that next good Hypnosis Training Video. I made a promise to myself years ago that I would only learn from the best so I could provide the best to my clients.

In the beginning I started like most people do with the typically old Progressive Relaxation Inductions. Okay, they do serve a purpose sometimes, but I found myself putting myself to sleep after doing enough of them.

Finding a Faster Hypnosis Induction

This search led me to seek out better or at least “faster” ways to get a person into hypnosis. I wanted to be able to hypnotize people within 4 min or less, I wanted to be able to demo hypnosis to people on the street so I could show them the value of hypnosis. Eventually I discovered the answer to my question, which was Rapid Inductions. I discovered a few really good Rapid Induction/Instant Induction training DVDs and one of them is the reason I’m writing this review, which I would like to share with you today. The 2 DVD Instant Induction Training Program is Called The Instant Hypnosis Induction Course by Sean Michael Andrews.

Hypnotize Anyone Within Seconds – Quick, Fast & EFFECTIVE!

Why Instant and Rapid Inductions are a MUST to know

I hope you enjoyed the clip as much as I did when I first witnessed Sean getting people into deep states of Hypnosis right on the street. Can you imagine, how these hypnosis inductions could be applied to your clinical practice, street hypnosis or stage hypnosis show?

Fast Hypnotic inductions do much more than just “look cool” or “wow the audience” they have become a must have tool for anyone within this profession. Now, I’m not saying these are the only hypnosis inductions in the world, but I like to think we as hypnotists have a toolbox of skills and within that toolbox we have many different tools for many different jobs.

So wouldn’t it be nice to know how to use them if you ever have to use them? Let me just outline you a few of the quick benefits of why we should use Instant and Rapid Inductions.

They work great with clients who tend to over think or analyze everything. Many times this will actually keep a person from reaching a nice enjoyable level of hypnosis. Especially if you are one of those hypnotists who only uses progressive relaxation inductions.

You can bypass going through the different levels of hypnosis such as light and medium and get right to Somnambulism. (Imagine the time saved?)

The expectation of your client is met as most people think you are going to trance them out. This can be a very good thing you’ll find out.

You are able to free up tons of time to do the most important thing in your profession. Help your client and give them the attention and time they paid for.

Lets Begin

When you buy this Instant Hypnosis Induction Course you are basically getting a whole seminar/workshop on DVD. The two DVD set is taken directly from one of Sean’s many Instant Inductions and Rapid Induction seminars which he gives all across the country. The Instant Hypnosis Induction Course set starts you off with a Sean in all his glory performing his unique style of street hypnosis with normal, everyday people walking the streets. The same techniques you will learn throughout the DVD. The inductions you learn will allow you to perform this right on the street as well.

Sean basically starts off the DVD by addressing the class. You know how certain people just seem to be a natural? Well Sean comes off as if the classroom is his second home. He comes off as sincere unlike some of the hypnosis trainers I have seen over the years.

He starts off the learning process with a interactive hypnosis session. Yes, Sean actually walks the classroom along with people watching at home through a short hypnosis session. (you may want to experience the trance on the second go around as the technique he shows you should be written down or learned. Why? Well because it’s a effective self hypnosis induction which you could apply to your clients or students. All you have to do is follow along and you’ll be able to enjoy the same relaxation as the people in the video. (I always enjoy hypnosis as I find it sets the pace for learning when used in that context.)

A Review Note

Unlike another DVD I recommend Speed Trance, Sean teaches more traditional material and techniques than some of the stuff that is presented in Speed Trance. I actually think this is better in a way as it lays the foundation for you before jumping into the stuff that is taught in Speed Trance.

Now I think all of us can agree on one thing. We all like to ask questions or should I reword that and say we all wish we would ask questions. We have all had questions at some point in time and choose not to ask them for one reason or another. Sean makes this easy on his class and the people at home. Unlike most teachers who tell people to hold their questions. Sean believes people should just ask him when they have one. This is good for you because you may have questions that people in the class have so you get to have your answers now rather than later.

Tips and Techniques You’ll Learn From Sean Michael Andrews

The first hypnosis induction you will learn is one of my favorite inductions and too me is one of the most powerful Hypnosis induction ever created called The Dave Elman Induction.

This induction will teach you how to get a person into deep hypnosis within 4 min or less. You’ll learn why this induction is so POWERFUL and what makes it tick. Btw, don’t think that just because you know the Elman induction you won’t learn anything new from this DVD. I almost made that mistake and started to fast forward. You will learn techniques that will MAKE SURE you get results with this induction.

The version you will learn is one I use personally in my office now. The first version is the 3 to 4 minute version and than you will learn how to break the Elman down into a shorter version. Yes, the Dave Elman can even be a instant induction and Sean shows you how.

The short version was worth its weight in gold to me as I’m always looking for ways to give my client more time for the money. He teaches each version well and go over each of them with great detail, answering questions here and there as well that different students have. Here are some other techniques you will learn to perform

The Arm Pull Induction

The Hand Drop Induction

Confusing Inductions

Handshake Inductions & other great inductions all showed and taught in really good detail.

Rapid Inductions look good, but how do they work?

Now, its one thing to demo instant inductions and rapid inductions and its another thing completely to know why they actually work. I rarely support products of this type unless they explain the reasons they work, the theory behind them and why they work. Anyone can make a DVD or product that shows you the induction, but do they explain why they work and how?

You’ll learn the theory behind these inductions and how they actually work. I hate to tell you this in case you thought you knew, but it doesn’t work by just pulling a person arms and yelling sleep. I’m sorry, but the truth is the truth. There is a lot more to these hypnotic inductions.

It would be nice to learn what to do before and after

Beside Learning Instant and Rapid Inductions you will also learn other things that help to build a stronger foundation. You’ll learn how to set up the induction and what to do after the induction. Here are some other great things you’ll learn

Ethics

The Pre-talk

Safety

Dealing with people trying to mess you up if you perform on the streets

Deepeners

How to Attract a audience

How to approach people

How to catch people & More

A nice little bonus you get with the DVD is watching the class actually practice the inductions. (Watch these as it will help you to notice things you can improve upon with your inductions) Sean could have easily cut this out of the DVDs, but I’m glad he left it in. It allows us at home to feel like we’re part of the class. We get to see the mistakes they make and the successes. There is one part where I thought someone actually got HURT, but she appeared okay. You will have to watch the DVD to know what I’m talking about.

Is this DVD Perfect or does it have some flaws?

While the DVD is really good overall all products have things that could have been better or needed a little improvement overall. Here are a few of things I noticed that I though could have been better……

During the recording of the seminar Sean uses a remote to adjust the camcorder. This is a small issue, but you will notice times when Sean is messing with the camcorder to fit him and other things into picture. This isn’t a huge issue, but sometimes takes your attention away from the learning process

During parts of the practice session you have people walking back and forth pass the camcorder. It gets to the point where they block out some of the training and even blocks out Sean talking for a moment or two. This runs on after the practice session as well for a few moments, but than the person moves out of the way.

I may have to go back and watch, but I swore I heard Sean Michael that the class had a workbook. Where is my workbook? I love workbooks and it would have been nice to have that included as well.

NOTE: I talked to Sean and he said they we’re just for the live class. So if you do buy the course and don’t notice a workbook don’t get scared. It’s suppose to be that way.

So in other words very small technical issues which could happen to any of us if we were filming a training video. Still, at the end of the day Sean Michael Andrew’s Instant Hypnosis Induction Course is a must have for your training library. Sean does a excellent job of teaching the techniques and comes off as very passionate about what he does.

The quality of the product is great and the few flaws don’t hold much weight as the DVD gives a lot of value. If your wondering if you should buy it I wouldn’t tell you not too. The DVD is worth the price, which in all honestly I was worried about, but those fears got laid to rest once I reviewed the product. Well I got to run, but if you would like to purchase it you can just Click Here

Katherine Anne has created a list of 10 tips on what you can do to become a better Hypnotist.

10 Tips To Make You A Better Hypnotist

Out of all of the odd messages that I have received over the years, one question continues to remain prevalent and consistently the most commonly asked question about hypnosis. How can I do it? What are tips for me to become good at this craft?

I have considerately made a neat and tidy little list of ten important tips to help you improve your hypnosis ability. You’re welcome.

10. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

9. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

8. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

7. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

6. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

5. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

4. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

3. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

2. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

1. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it.

Now that I have made myself clear…..Here is the true list. Although please, take heart, I feel very very very strongly about confidence. That is the key in hypnosis….the “secret door” for all those visual thinkers.

10. Confidence. Fake it or truly have it. (Yeah, got to stress how important I believe that is.) Just go out there and do it….you learn from your mistakes! Bring along a magic trick if the hypno doesn’t work. That safety net gives you a lot of confidence.

9. Learn from the best….then lock yourself in your room and make it better. Don’t copy cat the legends….it will not work out. There will only be one Erickson. It’s important to show the flairs of your mentors, but that is just the seed. Branch out and become something different and new.

8. Become a well rounded performer, but focus on your strengths more than you focus on your weaknesses. If we all focused on our weaknesses, how will we soar above the rest? Perform differently, use different techniques, see if you like scripts or impromptu inductions, see what language patterns work best for you. Once you find them, focus on them, utilize them, use them, and excel in them.

7. If at first you don’t succeed….drop them differently. Every person can be hypnotized, it just takes a serious and persistent hypnotist who can adapt to the volunteer or client. But please, if they don’t want to be hypnotized, then in the name of Ormond don’t force them to go under. That’s unethical, immoral, and quite frankly, creepy.

6. Engage every sense. Not everyone responds the best to a certain sensation you suggest. Everyone learns differently (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) so be sure to cater to every sense. Hypnosis is a journey through a created situation….the hypnotist’s job is to create the situation clearly. That can only be done with effective suggestion and engaging each and every sense.

5. Build that rapport! It is ten gazziolion times easier to hypnotize someone if they feel at ease with you. Study techniques that build good rapport…mirroring, finding what learning style they understand better in, ect. Loads of information about this can be found in studying NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and your time will be very well spent in investigating further.

4. NEVER come across as arrogant. As a hypnotist, yes, you need to be authoritative in the sense of commanding the stage, and (I think I forgot to mention this) confidence is 60% of hypnosis in my opinion. However…an audience hates nothing more than an egotistical and arrogant performer. That completely kills your rapport with the audience. And being a hypnotist where your show depends on the audience….that can easily destroy a show. Keep a level head, just be….what was it again? Oh yes, confident.

3. Become empathetic. Now personally….this was difficult for me. I have never been one to comfort drama queens and cry babies… but it is very possible to run into those clients. (That sounds a bit mean…*DISCLAIMER* no harshness intended…). Not only do we need to become empathetic towards our clients with their problems, but we also need to empathize when inducing trance. Whether in the office or on the stage, the mark of a good hypnotists is when he/she is under with the volunteer/client after the induction. This makes inducing trance easier, as you can follow along with the hypnotized and get a feel for what is happening first hand.

2. Document progress. I keep a journal of every experience I have done with hypnosis. This helps me get a clearer picture of how I am progressing, some trends that I haven’t noticed before, common occurrences, and so forth. Not only is it fun to go back and see how well you have progressed, but you tend to notice how one style suits your more so than the other.

1. Keep a strong sense of moral ethics. Hypnotists have a responsibility to our volunteers or clients….we are handling their minds, even though they have ultimate control, you are still looking at and investigating their minds. It is our responsibility to handle our clients or volunteers with the upmost respect and safety, avoiding any possible abreactions and understanding how to handle those situations safely. Out of all of these tips…although confidence is exceedingly important…a sense of moral ethics is of upmost importance.

Putting Lots Of Excitement Into Your Hypnosis

People learn hypnosis for different reasons. Maybe you’ve seen a stage show, and you couldn’t stop laughing at the skits. Maybe for you its clinical hypnosis, and the person to person interaction intrigues you. At some level, we’re all here because we think hypnosis is cool and a great thing to learn.

But…sometimes, despite our BEST efforts, we’re not being the best we can be in this arena. The reasons vary, the results are the same.

But what would happen if….You are able to strengthen that passion, to renew that enthusiasm, and feel excited now about learning hypnosis? If every new person was a new adventure, a new mind to explore, a new theory to test, and when the –momentum- takes over and you’re starting to become natural, now that is an outcome worth exploring!

Let’s Talk About Passion

I talk a lot about passion. That “passion process”, or –drive-, is one of the most important things you want to start looping when you’re out in your life practicing hypnosis. In this intensified rapport and congruency channel that we call hypnotizing someone, that other person is going to feel that passion. They’ll pick up your commitment and your enthusiasm, and they’re going to love it.

When you are convincing someone that they can quit smoking, do YOU sound like a revivalist preacher with total conviction and excitement? Do you jump up and shout out the answers, or do you sit back in your chair and mutter the answers as if it is nothing new?

Lets get passionate, lets get EXCITED, right now. Now STAND UP, rub your hands together like you’re about to make a LOT of money and get a really big kind of crazy grin on your face, large enough so that you know it can stay there.

Now, Think about the water on the sun in the sky, and one of the most beautiful mornings you have ever seen. Add in some stereo and notice what happens when… you hear one of your favorite songs. And can you remember what it’s like to hear children laughing to their friends and playing in the background?

When was the last time that you went to the circus? Think about the punchline to one of the best jokes you’ve ever heard…

You know, I was seeing a client the other day and this one was just starting to get it. You know when someone is about to have a huge breakthrough, and how their face looks right before they get it? Yeah, she had that look.

We were getting in really deep, and everything was going great and her challenges were steadily flowing right into the past, with lock and key where they belong. I made it so she couldn’t get to them, and then started to amp up the pleasure in this moment now, in the body so it starts to feel really good. And then all of a sudden, she started to giggle… I mean REALLY giggle… and this girl just could not stop giggling…

They say that laughter is contagious, and I found myself starting to smile a little bit, and then started laughing along with her right out of the blue. Just then, an idea came into my mind. And I yelled out to her, “That’s right! Just LAUGH it out…Haha!” and she kept going and laughed her way into happiness. She giggled her way into feeling great.

And I stopped after it was all done, and I had a chance to reflect… and one of the things that I kept thinking about is the magical power of what we do. Through methods that we all know, we induce these things called “altered states” (like a sorcerer), and we lead people through powerful experiences that they aren’t able to access themselves. We’re like spiritual warrior guides and shamans, only we do it in every day life with every day people.

I don’t know if you’ve ever felt really really good, but people say that when that’s what is on your mind, the smallest things can start to make you happy, as if you are rejoicing your own ability to experience intense emotions. It’s a great feeling that we want to tap into.

Become The Passion You Want To Send Out Into The World

When you go out there to hypnotize people and to influence them, carry a bit of that passion in your pocket. Bring some enthusiasm to your life. Share your positive thoughts and energy, and smile a lot with them. Circle this around in your mind, so that when you are out hypnotizing people, you will be –amazed- at the results. Your congruency and confidence will come naturally, and you will become a walking example of the changes that can come from hypnosis.

As Buzz Lightyear says: To infinity, and beyond!

Best Wishes,

Reg is currently working on creating a unique show that will combine Hypnosis and Magic. So he decided to write a article that goes a little bit into Magic and Hypnosis.

Magic and Hypnosis

I’m currently working on a new stage show which combines magic and hypnosis. I don’t mean the kind of show where the first half is a magic show and the second half a stage hypnotist show. I mean a true “mash-up.” Mixing the two together, really blurring the lines.

Using mentalism, suggestion and fast inductions on just a couple of volunteers at a time, with the intention that nobody can see where the illusion starts or the hypnosis ends. Nor am I talking about a “Derren Brown” type of psychological illusionist show, as mine is much more overtly a hypnosis stage show than that. So at the risk of being plagiarized the world over, I’ve decided to share some of my ideas here.

For those who don’t know me, my “thing” is instant and rapid inductions. I do street hypnosis and impromptu hypnosis in bars and train others to do the same. I also teach Induction Modification methods to speed up and improve any old induction you might have heard of. Being able to do such fast inductions (as many others can) under virtually any conditions and with a great success rate, started me thinking about how I could utilize the hypnosis in other ways – in addition to getting entertainment out of giving the usual suggestions; sticky/stiff/numb/forgetful/funny etc. (Not that there’s anything wrong with any of those!) So, on with the show:

1. Icebreakers

You will know that many stage hypnotists use suggestibility tests to select the somnambulists from the crowd. Personally, I’ve always felt a bit sorry for those whose hands don’t stick together or whatever. Sure, they get to see more of the show than the volunteers who end up on stage, but I can’t help feeling they must feel a bit left out at first. So, whilst delivering my version of the pre-talk, I combine traditional, “real” suggestibility tests with a number of other demonstrations of suggestibility.

These range from a couple of magic tricks with a suggestible angle to classic optical illusions (printed or projected large-scale) of the type where the brain creates movement or “fills in the blanks.” Not only are these interesting, informative and entertaining for the whole audience, but by carefully watching the reactions to these, I can easily select my volunteers for the stage demonstrations in the rest of the show.

2. Hypnosis as misdirection

Many of you will already know that hypnotic language, anchoring and other hypnotic techniques can all help to enhance the performance, atmosphere and perception of even the simplest of magic tricks. However, I often use a genuinely hypnotized volunteer to help with the misdirection of an illusion.

I.E. Having witnessed a trick involving a fully hypnotized volunteer, even magicians can be fooled into thinking that the hypnosis MUST have somehow played a part in the effect. Of course, that is hardly ever the case. An added bonus in this is that before emerging the subject, you can suggest they will have no memory of the actual workings of the illusion and so will not have to field any questions from curious spectators!

3. Magic as induction

Where an unhypnotized volunteer is sufficiently mystified/astounded/confused at the climax of a magic trick, I have them in the ideal state to lead right into a fast induction, so needless to say, I rarely waste that opportunity! That’s just one example of using a magic trick as the lead-in to an induction but I also have built a collection of effects which can be used as a reinduction cue.

The idea of using something external as a reinduction cue first occurred to me during a hypnosis event in my local magic shop: I had one hypnotized subject focus on one of those rubber dome pop-up toys (The kind where you turn them inside out, place them on a flat surface and wait for them to pop up into the air) as I gave the suggestion that the moment it popped up, it would take them back into hypnosis, taking them even deeper than before.

Without giving away too many magical secrets, this use of an external, inanimate object for reinduction works really well with a number of “psychokinetic” (PK) type effects where there is usually a delayed sudden movement of a prop. I have since seen a video of another hypnotist using Banachek’s commercially available “PK Pen” to great effect in this way and I’m only just beginning to scratch the surface.

4. Pseudo-psychology

Finally, I never use any of the so-called psychological forces, but I will often convince volunteers retrospectively that this has actually been the case. Once a prediction is revealed to be correct, I will convincingly improvise (lie) about how I influenced their choice of card, symbol or object etc. Often attributing this to the color of my shirt, the position of my hands, the shape of the table or anything else that springs to mind at the time! I find many easy, self-working tricks can similarly be enhanced by asking the volunteer a series of unrelated, closed questions to “assist me” in a seemingly miraculous divination.

To conclude:

I have found that if you’re a competent enough hypnotist, letting the audience in on some of the science of suggestibility (even if you do use a little bit of magic trickery and misdirection to reinforce some of it) takes nothing away from, and can even enhance the presentation of the wonderful art of hypnosis.

It’s all about making it appeal to a new generation of audience, but if you still think your audience will be entertained by seeing a subject perform like Madonna or Michael Jackson, then you’ll probably never encourage the Playstation generation off the couch and into your show.

OK. I’m out of here!
