I was looking through my google alerts the other day and noticed a couple of interesting stories on hypnosis and I thought I would share one of them with all of you today.
A study has been released which was performed by Researchers at the University of Geneva which is located in Switzerland that sheds some light on what goes on under the surface when a person is hypnotized. Hypnotists have always firmly believed that hypnosis and the events that occur during hypnosis are real. Over the last few years more and more studies have come forth finally proving what we have been saying for a LONG time.
Thanks to advances in brain scanning and mapping technologies science can finally start to see the effects hypnotism has on the mind and the body. The study talks about how hypnosis can paralyze a limb and exactly what is happening within the brain of the person being hypnotized. It’s a really interested article and I think all of my readers will find it interesting.
The results of the research were published in the Journal Neuron and you can click the link below to read the story:
Edit: The link to the Neuron article is dead for some reason so below is the same article published by USA Today.

Theres has recently been a large study in Denmark doing brain scans on people experiencing pain with and without hypnosis. There is a video on youtube. Despite the video is in danish you can clearly see the difference in how different areas of the brain light up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xInPOCQsR0Q
